Superb house

  • 5 of 5

Hello Nick

I just wanted to say how much my extended family enjoyed their stay in Upton House last week. The house was superb, equipped with everything we could wish for or require, and is situated in a fantastic location. The welcome pack was very welcome, with delicious biscuits. The house is big enough so that 3 generations could spread themselves out without getting in anyone's way. The first day one of my sons had to work so he was able to do so in one of the living rooms without being disturbed. The kitchen was amazing to work in and we all enjoyed cooking in it, when we weren't barbecuing. The garden was incredible and the 3 and 4 year olds had great fun playing in it quite safely (thank you for caging the ponds!). On your recommendation we got Nicky Vereker and her friend in to cater for us one night for a celebration meal. What fantastic food she provided - I would recommend doing that for any future guests! We were even able to eat it outside as our stay coincided with the hottest week of the year so far. So thank you as well, Nick, for putting on such good weather! This meant that with the proximity to a number of beaches, footpaths and the canal, we were able to run, walk, and swim each day, and even cycle. None of us wanted the holiday to end - we were having such a good time. I hope we will be able to return sometime and I would recommend this house for any large family gathering.

Thank you again

Jane Duckworth

Owner's Response: Thank you for such a lovely review and I am delighted you enjoyed your holiday with us. You were certainly very lucky being here in the heatwave and so close to the sea to cool off! I very much look forward to seeing you again in the not too distant future. Nick

A imposing large stone house with lots of room

  • 4 of 5

Apart from the mixed weather, the house was very comfortable. The main bedroom bed had a very soft mattress which was not to our liking but the other rooms provided much firmer ones. High chairs were provided as was wood for the fire pit which was glorious on the three nights we were able to enjoy it. Kitchen well equipped, too. The windbreak provided was an essential requirement on the windy beach as were the two surf boards.

Also a bonus were the two bicycles which made it very easy to get into Bude via the nearby cycle track, and very quick. Walking down the canal towpath was also enjoyable (30 mins to Bude centre).

Spent time visiting nearby big houses. Pencarrick near Bodmin was worth a visit, lovely gardens.

Beautiful stay in Bude!

  • 3 of 5

We were three families with 5 kids between us and we had a wonderful stay at Upton and a great time in Bude. The house was spacious, the kitchen well equipped, beautiful grounds and enough bedding and towels for all. Lots of castles, hiking, beaches and trails nearby. Plus the sound of sheep outside the window - what more could you ask for?! Thanks to Nick for a wonderful vacation. I would highly recommend Upton house and the area.

Lovely house in super setting for exploring Cornwa

  • 5 of 5

We were delighted with our stay at Upton House which was exactly as expected and ideal for our extended family of 12 adults, one baby and a dog. The downstairs was large enough for everyone not to feel cramped and for people to be with others or to move around and do their own thing. The kitchen was spacious, easily accommodating everyone for breakfast and evening meals. We spent time in the conservatory relaxing, reading, playing games and completing three jigsaw puzzles.

The bedrooms were tidy with clean bedding and towels and lovely comfortable beds for a wonderful nights sleep. (We did find the shower in the smallest double bedroom a little feeble and the door wasnt lockable.)

The gardens were very pretty with nice seating areas and a lawned area where the boys played golf. We even had a barbeque one evening. We did think it was a shame that the pond had to be covered with net presumably for health & safety reasons. Maybe it would be better with no pond at all!

The parking area was more than adequate for our five cars

Nick, the manager, was very helpful & provided excellent customer service and kept us informed through every stage of the booking.

We can certainly recommend Lansdown Dairy for providing us with very good basic food when we arrived (we ordered in advance but picked up order from shop where it was waiting for us).

We enjoyed walking to the local beaches, where some went surfing, walking along the canal into Bude, hiring bikes & riding into Padstow where we ate the best fish & chips ever at Rick Steins place. (watch out for seagulls waiting to grab some!) We visited Boscastle, Trebarwith Strand (loved it), Port Isaac & Tintangel & the house & gardens at Lanhydrock. Two of of us even went to a car boot sale!

The property was clean & tidy & well maintained and we would have no hesitation in recommending Upton House to others. Hopefully we might even return one day for another family get together. We will certainly use Home Away another time. Thank you so much.

To the Manor born

  • 5 of 5

This property is very impressive, from first entering the gates to the circular drive, with more then ample parking for a number of cars.

The house is beautiful and very spacious, with everything and more that you would need for a perfect holiday. We would highly recommend this property. The gardens are large and very peaceful.

It is only a short drive to local beaches Bude or Widemouth

If your looking for a relaxing holiday, we would certainly recommend this property and we enjoyed a wonderful week there.

Thank you again Nick for a lovely holiday.

Excellent family house

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a wonderful weeks stay at Upton House with all our family. It exceeded our expectations. The impressive entrance gates and drive were very welcoming. It was beautifully decorated and clean. We appreciated the welcome hamper, it was a nice touch. The description and photos were exactly as described in the brochure. The configuration of bedrooms was perfect for our family which consisted of 6 adults, two teenagers and two young children. The house is very well maintained and equipped. The garden was amazing and much bigger than it looked in the photos. We particularly enjoyed the close proximity of the house to the canal which enabled us to walk to the beach every day, that was an added bonus and priceless to us. I would thoroughly recommend this house and we hope to return soon. The service we received from Nick at Elite West Holidays was excellent and made booking our holiday effortless.
