This well-maintained mid-century Crestview haven is our home. It's 1 block to a bus stop that goes to UT & downtown. It's 3 blocks to grocery, restaurants & shopping, & 8 blocks to the Crestview rail & bus station. You’ll love our home because of the convenient location, its simple, elegant, timeless style, & the quiet, safe hood. Our home is good for couples, business travelers, families with kids, and explorers in town for discovery and events. Live like a local, in the home of a true local.
This house is typical of the Crestview neighborhood: 1100 square feet of mid-century modern, single story ranch home built in 1953 and renovated in 2018. Original hardwood floors, large trees, quiet streets, and convenient access to all that Austin offers. The interior style reflects our personal tastes: simple, durable, functional, timeless, and aesthetically elegant. We are not trendy. This is our primary residence of many years, so the space will feel alive (complete with live plants and fish aquarium), open, and comfortable to live in.
We've made accommodations for pets. The back yard is enclosed, though the fences are low as typical for this neighborhood. Escape artist dogs will be able to jump them. There is a dog door on the back door. It can be blocked if needed. Leashes, a crate, food and water bowls are available. Dogs may poop in the back yard, just clean it up with the dog waste bags provided, and put it in the city trash bin by the garage. No pets on the beds or furniture please.
Guests have access to the entire house and rear deck. There is also a detached garage and studio that are not to be used by guests. Guests must park on the street and leave the driveway clear for the owner to come and go.
Most of the homes in Crestview were built in 1952-53. The neighborhood is quiet, safe, and full of friendly people of all types. It's always been a great place to raise a family and now it's one of the most convenient places to see Austin due to its central location and easy access to freeways and public transit.
There is a bus stop at the end of the street where the #5 Woodrow bus will pick up to go to UT and downtown. The crestview rail and bus station is walking distance, near the corner of N. Lamar and Airport. The MetroRail goes directly downtown, and the #801 MetroRapid bus goes through downtown to South Congress and beyond. Also in the vicinity of Crestview Station is a rental car place as well as a car-2-go parking area. There are bike lanes nearby that take you all over town. You do not need a car to enjoy Austin from this location.
