Located in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, just off the Royal Mile this home from home is a light and airy period property. It offers unrivalled access to all that Edinburgh has to offer: among others, the Castle, the Palace, John Knox’s House, St Giles' Cathedral and the Scottish Parliament are all within easy walking distance. There are some great bars and restaurants in the area but, if you want to dine at home, the flat boasts a fully equipped kitchen with everything you might need to prepare a home cooked meal.

St Mary's Street: St Mary's Street has two award winning restaurants, Empires, a warm and inviting Turkish haven and Stac Polly, a beautifully decorated dining room serving exquisitely prepared Scottish delights. And local pubs the Waverley and the World’s End each have bags of character. There are supermarkets in the area but the closest grocery shop is just at the end of the road on the Royal Mile.

Beaches: Edinburgh’s closest beach is at Portobello, a 10-minute drive from the centre. A little further afield, within a 20-minute drive you will find Seton Sands and further still (40-minute drive) Aberdour's Silver Sands (my favourite beach in the area). The East Coast, within a 30-minute drive towards North Berwick, also has beautiful beaches to explore

Golf facilities: The home of golf, St Andrew's is a 90-minute drive away and well whether a visit whether you are a golf enthusiast or not. The golf course and University are world famous and the beaches are beautiful.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Elspeth,

Thanks for the rent of the apartment. It was perfect for our 4 day break. Great location and warm after a days sightseeing in the cold air.

Once again thanks.

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

Close to the Royal Mile. Plenty of space to sleep. The one bedroom does front a busy road so road noise while you sleep can be an issue. Easy check in. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Great city, great flat!

  • 4 of 5

The flat is wonderfully located. It's within reasonable walking distance from Waverley Station and just off the Royal Mile so you can walk easily to all areas of the city. The flat is comfortable, clean and spacious. The fittings and furniture are not super smart but everything works and there was everything we needed. There is traffic noise, as you would expect in a city centre, in the front bedroom but that quietens between midnight and 7am and is not too bad anyway.. A great base and if I return to Edinburgh I would book it again.

Well located but missleading

  • 3 of 5

This apartment is well located but noisy. The title says spacious, but in reality it is average sized with a narrow kitchen where only one person can cook at a time. When we arrived the place was barely presentable and a lot of old food was left in it. The mini fridge had parts that came apart and there was no dryer (it says tumble dryer in the post but we couldn't find a dryer). TP is provided but only one roll even for 4 people! Please note: This is a third floor flat no lift. It left a lot to be desired even though it somewhat served our purposes. We left it cleaner and tidier than how we found it... I guess we expect it more.

Perfect location for Fringe & exploring Edinburgh

  • 4 of 5

We'd been to Edinburgh a few times before so we couldn't believe it when we found this apartment at the price.

The accommodation is fairly basic as you'd expect but it's comfortable & plenty big enough for 6 to 7 people. We used to fight over the high table & stools next to the window - great for watching the world go by.

It was a little noisy for those sleeping in the front but during Fringe that's to be expected. If you're looking for luxury this isn't for you but if you're looking for a base in the heart of Edinburgh then it's perfect. We would definitely recommend it & hope to stay again in the future.

Excellent Edinburgh Apartment

  • 5 of 5

This flat was exactly what we wanted for our first visit to the Edinburgh Fringe (and my friend's first visit to Edinburgh). We could hardly have been more central to the Fringe action, which meant it was easy to pop back to the flat for a quick rest and refuel between shows and/or sightseeing, before going out again for more. Also very easy walking distance to Edinburgh Waverley station and local supermarkets. If you're looking for luxury then I guess this isn't it, but the flat is comfortable, light, spacious and has everything we needed for our stay. Communication with Andrew is easy via email and/or WhatsApp and he responds quickly and helpfully. I would happily book this apartment again any time, and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting this beautiful city.
