Great condo with beautiful view right in the middle of Tamarindo

We had a pleasant family vacation. The condo was perfect for our family of 4 with two bedrooms and 1 bath. Kids loved the pool and it was only a short walk to the beach. The view from the balcony was amazing. It's not the fanciest condo in the area but was secure, pleasant, clean, and cool. It would be hard to beat it, especially for the price. Joel was accommodating and offered excellent suggestions of places to eat and see. Thanks!

Horrible Property Manager

This condo is fine.The issue is the property manager, Joel.

We are a family of 5 with 3 young children.We've been to Tamarindo many times renting homes from other people with no issues.This time we arrived, Joel told us the condo we rented was being worked on so we'd stay in a different condo then move to our condo mid week.Its an issue to unpack and re pack for 5 people.But what can we do?So the day we had to move,I stayed home all morning to pack,kids came home for lunch and we called Joel to say we are ready to move.He said the people in the other condo just left and it needs to be cleaned.So obviously it was not being "worked on".In truth he had double booked the condo He says leave all of our bags, money, groceries, passports in the condo and he will move them outside behind a gate or maybe a closet.Obviously this is unacceptable.We finally convince him to let us move the bags, groceries to the other condo even though it's dirty and just set them in the living room.I take the kids to the beach, and my husband waits over an hour for Joel to come let him in to the other place.As he's moving our bags,Joel yells and curses at both my husband and the CR man helping my husband move.The day before we are leaving I email him to remind him that I paid for a van to the airport and our flight out of Liberia is at 3pm. We want to be picked up at 12:00. It's an hour drive to the airport.I've paid $90 already to Joel for this.

He replies that he wants to "walk through" our condo with us when we leave.I say that's fine, we can walk through it as we load our stuff into the van at 12:00.

The cleaning lady shows up at the condo at 10:00am.I happen to be there because I ran back to get something for a kid.She wants to start cleaning which I say is fine.At 12:00 we are all packed sitting outside waiting for the van.12:15-no van.My husband calls Joel who says it's coming in 15min.12:30-no van.I go ask the cleaning lady if she knows the van driver and can she call him.After making 2 calls,she says he's not coming and there is no other van available.We call Joel he says a different driver is coming in 30min. It's already12:45. So we say no thanks, we will get a taxi.He screams at us on the phone says we "are fired!!"We find a "taxi"a Hyundai from the 80s with 4 of us in back,luggage on our laps,no seatbelts. Got to the airport 50min before the flight.Almost miss it,etc.Joel now refuses to refund $90 for the van.Ive seen similar reviews of him on other properties

Owner's Response: This is a very nasty mean spirited review the does not tell the whole story of this guest's experience. It is full of frivolous, dilatory, and absurd assertions most of which are exaggerated or never happened. A foreshadow of things to come occurred when the guest booked the property with five people two adults and three children which was a two bedroom one bath condominium and was really too small for their family however they insisted this would be OK and I relented and rented them the property at a very good price better than They could've gotten from anybody in my opinion . Prior to their arrival I saw during an inspection of the unit that there were some issues with the plumbing electrical and air-conditioning that I felt we needed to address immediately. Their assertion that we were overbooked is not true. What I did to atone for my misdemeanor of not having the property ready for their arrival in time THAT THEY NEVER MENTIONED IN THEIR REBUKE was to put them in perhaps the finest property in the entire Diria New Tower Building; a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom, newly re-furnished apartment that had a full -on Western view that was spectacular and exquisitely furnished but slept six comfortably and was over $100 more a night more with really memorable ocean views of course never asking them for an additional dime in payment. I ask anyone reading this review, are these the actions of a miserable and bad manager trying to make a guest suffer? If this professional man with obvious significant means had any respect for his family's comfort he would've never selected a two bedroom one bath property to stuff them into . I manage many properties in this, one one of the best condominium properties in Costa Rica, and I have dozens of unsolicited five star reviews to attest to my efforts always to please my guests. Any one wishing to stay at one of my lovely properties in great locations that are clean and wonderfully appointed can get the numbers of my properties and judge by the reviews for themselves whether they're worth staying at and they can make their own conclusions on whether I would be a proper host. What really gripped this Master of the Universe who was very fragile and delicate in his disposition was that he had to leave the magnificent property I , out of the goodness of my heart furnished him and his family that he wouldn't do so with his own funds, and move him into a less appealing digs which he had selected and rented himself.

Couldn't have been better

If you are looking for location don't look further. This condo was located right across the street from the beach and everything was an easy walk away restaurants, shopping and grocery store. The condo itself has an amazing view of the pool and ocean which was great for us since we have two young boys. We could go out to the pool without them or they could go to the pool without us and we could easily check on them from our balcony. The condo was very clean and in order. Joel was easy to deal with and very available and accommodating. I would definitely book this condo again in a heart beat. Keep in mind you do not get all inclusive with this rental but that didn't bother me one bit there is a fully stocked kitchen to make breakfast and plenty amazing restaurants a walk way to eat at.

Gorgeous views and the best location

We loved our stay at the Diria condo in Joel's appartment. Staying in the flat gets you the best of both worlds since you can enjoy all the services the hotel has to offer - pools, cocktail bar, sun loungers on the beach and security within the complex - while keeping your independence and being able to cook your own meals.

The flat had everything we needed - a fully equipped kitchen, very relaxing sitting room and bedroom, TV, stereo...

If you don't know Tamarindo, the Diria is the best location to stay in as you are close to everything.

Diria Condo

We had a wonderful stay in Tamarindo! The condo had everything we needed, plus an amazing view. The pool area was beautiful with easy access to the beach. The adult pool is also a nice amenity. Our kids could go back and forth between the beach and pool safely which made the trip more relaxing for us. Would definitely recommend to others.

3rd timer

This was our third time to Tamarindo and our second time renting a condo managed by Joel. As always, Joel does a great job of mapping out the area for you and where you can find great meals. The location is incredible and the views outstanding. The family splits time between the beach and the pool. My youngest daughter's highlight is to get a mango smoothie at the swim up bar every day. As far as the condo it was nice and a great value for the money. The last time down we stayed in the newer condos and they were definitely nicer but also cost more. To sum it up I would not hesitate to book this condo again and our family will most certainly be back to Tamarindo.
