Overview

Attica Villa Rental Photos and Description

An excellent place, full of character, to enjoy the best Greece offers: sea and countryside + Acropolis and Athens city center, all from a most convenient base.

It is located in a place looking like a far Aegean island, feeling like you are away from it all. You can't believe this place is only 50 km from down town Athens!

Acropolis, a World Class monument, its famous new museum, all major archaeological sites, the picturesque old Plaka and the modern city are at a little more than an hours reach, along with numerous cultural and recreational possibilities.

Schinias in Marathon where villa is located, is a top rated beach of Athens, boasting more than 6 km of sandy beach, with crystal clear and mostly calm waters, and a rare cone forest reaching to the water edge!

The Villa itself, is a rare example of traditional architecture, built with stones from its own land, in an inspired 'castle like' design.

The intended abudant use of natural and low treated materials, like stone, wood and iron, create a feeling of immediacy, comfort and inner relaxation in a way that few places can do.

It is tastefully decorated in a country but luxurious manner, with antiques, hand crafted wooden and iron furniture, that invite you to unwind in casualness comfort and style.

The house is built in the gated settlement of Judges & Attorneys.

It is positioned on the cliffs, 50 meters above the sea, providing privacy, and great views to the picturesque bay underneath and the Aegean sea.

Schinias, belongs to the municipality of Marathon, where the famous ancient battle took place and where the world renowned Marathon run originates.

Why Michael chose Attica

One of the joys of travelling abroad is to experience different places and feel the local culture.

Architecture and tradition are important cultural parts of a country's culture, especially for travellers. So, having the opportunity to stay in a Villa which is a rare example of the vanishing local architectural forms, building materials, and inspired design, is an important advantage for many travellers. Universal and plain identity buidings, that you can be in any place in the world will add litlle to your Greek experience.

What makes this villa unique

The Villa is located in a quite settlement, overlooking the sea and next to a 'top rated' sandy beach of 6km long with a rare cone forest in it's back reaching the water edge.

Yoy nave the option to enjoy the sea and nature as you wish as there are busy or isolated spots to choose from.

Small villages or bigger cities and a lot of archaelogical interest places are within easy reach for you to visit and spend your holidays interestingly.

Besides, the city centre of Athens, is within an hours reach.

Fabulous Villa close to Athens

  • 5 of 5

Our party of 4 adults couples stayed in the villa for a week and it was perfection! The villa is amazing Michael the owner cooked us an incredible, authentic greek dinner on our first night and it was one of our best meals all week. The pool is clean and the perfect temperature. The rooms all have air conditioning and black out shutters so we all slept very well and much longer than usual. There are 2 lovely restaurants nearby and there are incredible beaches to go to each day that are perfect for swimming. You must go to Karavi Beach Club and on the way there are a few others such as Playa de Sol. You will need a car and the drive from the airport to the villa is quite easy with Michael's excellent directions.

Fantastic holiday in a fantastic house!

  • 5 of 5

When I read what everybody wrote earlier about Stone Villa Castle, I thought, that if half was true, it would be good! Maybe the reviewers were all friends of Michel? But it was better than that! As soon as You meet Michael You feel that you have got a new friend. His kindness, hospitality and generosity concerning everything. It gives you a sense that this is something more than You can imagine. We were a family of 18 persons, including two small children. Everyone thought the house was fantastic. And the surroundings magnificently beautiful. We could easily reach what we wished of activities and excursions. The house gave the opportunity for pleasant social life. But also the possibility of isolation for those who wanted. Therefore, we had a lovely week and we warmly recommend the house to anyone who wants a holiday out of the ordinary.

Highly recommended villa! Would give 4.5 stars if I could.

  • 4 of 5

I stayed here recently with 8 adults and 3 children, and I want to start by saying that my family and I had an absolutely lovely time. I would definitely return. But there are a couple things I think could be improved and then the villa would be just perfect, which is why I haven't given it 5 stars.

Here's the good:

- Beautiful location

- Very spacious home with plenty of separate areas for people to have privacy

- Michael was truly the best host ever. Very responsive to all my emails, questions, and requests. He really made us feel welcome.

Could be improved:

- My in-laws stayed in the "guest house" area of the house. Although it was May, they said it was so stuffy and musty that they needed to keep the windows open and heat on the whole week to try to dry the place out. My mother-in-law needed to take sinus medication because her sinuses became clogged and painful while sleeping there. Maybe it just needed to air out more before we stayed there, I don't know.

- The internet was a challenge. Michael told us that the coverage was inconsistent at the house, so he very thoughtfully connected a hot spot we could use instead. It worked ok, but frequently ran out of pre-paid data and we had to contact Michael to reload the data. This was a bit annoying for us since we were often trying to research things to do and were unable to do so. But maybe this kind of internet coverage is common for the area...

- The refrigerator seems a little old - we woke up the first morning after shopping to find much of our food had frozen. We turned the temp down, but it continued to freeze things placed on the top shelf.

I think that the few negative points I've highlighted could be easily improved, and then this villa would really be 5 stars. Even now, I would definitely recommend it to large groups/families and people looking to relax in a beautiful place.

I also would like to recommend the chef that we hired to cook for us at the house one evening, Nikolas. I do think his prices are a little high, but he cooked us a TON of food (sadly, much of it froze in the fridge and we couldn't save it all) and it was delicious. Despite the cost, I would also definitely hire him again - we had a lovely evening.

Overall, we had a wonderful time. Thank you again, Michael for a great stay and for being such a thoughtful host!

Owner's Response: Dear Kaitlin, I am very happy you felt you had an absolutely lovely time during your holidays at our place. It is very nice to enjoy a comfortable house with all amenities, in a great location with large families and friends We work to make your holidays as good as possible. Let me also give some information regarding the points you suggested that can be improved. Guest house, recently we had an unusual terrible storm in the area which damaged the fence and some water passed in the guest house. We have repaired and refurbished it immediately, fitted a dehumidifier to absorb moisture and before occupying it again it was aired for prolonged periods of time. We checked ourselves and felt it was OK before opening it for guests. Maybe there was still some residue of humidity that only a very sensitive person could feel. Your parents in-law would not have stayed there for the whole week if they felt uncomfortable. They knew there where 4 other vacant bedrooms spread in both wings of the villa. Maybe this issue was misconceived, its level or in total. Internet, the phone company serving the area was changing their local infra-structure to optical fiber. Now they have completed it and we enjoy high speed internet. Fridge, the fridge-freezers (2) of the villa are modern, high quality, General Electric brand, side by side models. I will have it checked by the service man to ensure they work properly. I keep that you highly recommend the villa and that the point of comments is to raise a good level higher. Your intention that you would definitely return is indicative of your stay experience. It was a pleasure for us to meet you and have you and your extended family as guests. We wish you all the best and kind regards to all.

Amazing Views!!

  • 5 of 5

Two families: 6 adults and 3 kids age 7, 6 and 1. This property has it all: Views, proximity to tourist sites (yet very private), cleanliness and comfort. Michael was an excellent host and explained many features of the house. He provided us with a GPS system which was programmed with various destinations to include an excellent Argentinian Steakhouse and ATM machines. It was a lifesaver as we did not have set plans day by day on our vacation. Michael kindly provided many baby necessities such as a high chair, crib, stroller, bedding and playpen. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool, barbeque area and safety of being in a compound like setting with small kids. The kids especially liked the house because they could have the freedom of exploring, playing hide and seek and spent most of their time outside within the compound instead of indoors. The house itself is very well decorated and complimentary of its ocean views and Greek culture. The master bedroom balcony took our breath away with its unobstructed views and swing. I was able to rock the baby to sleep easily. (Nearly every room had its own balcony with views). During our stay, we managed to tour several sites to include Acropolis, Parthenon, Acropolis Museum, Agora, Erechtheion (all in Athens), Delphi Theatre, Cape Sounion, Ancient Corinth and Sparta. (We chose sites appropriate for small kids hiking abilities and nap schedules.) Also if you are interested in running the 26.2 marathon the start point is mere moments from the property. Enroute to the property is also a private beach. Our additional family occupied the south wing and they too were in awe of the views, house and peacefulness of the setting. The pictures don't do this place justice. Thank you Michael for being such a gracious host and giving us a piece of your paradise.

Fantastic location for a company retreat

  • 5 of 5

The Stone Castle Villa was far beyond any expectations, it was built in classic greek style but with all the modern luxuries you need. It offered a fantastic view and great social areas. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a calm trip to Greece, thank you Michael.

Truly a Dreamy Castle Experience!

  • 5 of 5

Our family (including kids age 10,7,7) loved our stay at Stone Castle Villa. Michael welcomed us very warmly into his exquisitely designed home. The kids squealed when we walked in and continued squealing for quite some time as we explored this lovely space with many special touches to delight all of us such as the upper level bedroom that seemed as if it were in a castle tower. We greatly enjoyed the time we spent talking with Michael and getting to know him...beyond logistics...we felt we got to know a lifelong Athenian which was a highlight for us. Getting in to Athens was not difficult...we drove a ways to a metro/train stop and the train let out right at the entrance to the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum. Michael recommended a full day cruise to 3 of the islands that we enjoyed very much, especially the live music and dancing in which everyone was welcome to join in on the dance lesson. Our 7 year old daughter loved dancing and the staff was very sweet to our kids. If we ever have a chance to return to Athens again we would definitely return to Michael's Stone Castle Villa.
