Quiet and Charming
We stayed for one night- our annual Mother/Daughter trip. Communication was very good and Rachel was kind enough to accommodate a late check out for us. This farm house is as unique and quaint as pictured!!
We truly enjoyed our time together and slept well!! Furnishings were adorable and amenities were adequate. WiFi and tv apps did not disappoint. We were offered to visit the farm animals but declined since the weather was quite chilly. We opted for sitting by the cozy fireplace and having a little wine and great conversation.
Take note that this IS a farm. If you are not too keen on a few spider webs and dead bugs, then this may not be the place for you. Also should mention that there is no microwave. Not a big deal if we had known, but we brought food with and made the assumption that there would be one. Other than that the kitchen had everything that we needed.
This was the perfect spot for our quiet get-away. We would definitely stay here again!
Rachel was very welcoming. It was the perfect setting for us. A step back in time to get a small glimpse of what it might have been like when my grandfather grew up in the area.
An extraordinarily charming and quiet place to stay.
This was an absolute delightful place for our visit to MN. Located in a pleasant country setting down a dirt road only a mile or so from Hwy 169 but absolutely no road noise to be heard. The house is located close to the owner’s residence, but we did not hear their comings and goings as well. What we did hear were the horses and a particular chipmunk on the back side of the house. He had plenty to say. LOL! But this is to be expected with a working farm. It’s a rather large home with plenty of space and was beautifully decorated. The attention to detail was amazing. We were very impressed immediately with cleanliness, personalized gifts and notes. The cozy table settings radiated a very charming welcome. Rachel went out of her way to provide favorite refreshments and homemade snacks on check-in and offered at check-out for the ride home. They weren’t expected but certainly appreciated. With it being a fully stocked home (kitchen, bathroom, bedding, furniture), you don’t need to bring a thing except food and drink. We felt safe and secure no matter what time we were up and moving. The WiFi worked great and I’ll assume the TV did as well, but we never turned it on. I would suggest the same for your visit. With these surroundings, it’s a perfect place to pay attention to the people with you. This is a beautiful older home with no A/C (that we found and I didn’t think to ask due to the provided fans). Those fans circulated the air very well downstairs in an attempt to fight back the humidity that nature threw at us during our stay. There were two bedrooms. The bed in the master suite downstairs was a bit too uncomfortable for us and the one upstairs was not an option due to the heat/mugginess. However, the sitting room had the best air circulation and the couch and chair were very comfortable. Yes, Goldilocks could have easily been involved in this scenario. We enjoyed the farm and watching/listening to the animals. A fire pit is available for a quiet outdoor evening. Call/text Rachel to assist in getting it started. She will ensure that the small farm critters are a safe distance away and not hiding in the wood pile.
Our overall impression was that this was one of the best places we’ve stayed while traveling to MN. Unfortunately, likely will not request a stay here again during the summer months but could be an option when it cools down. We would highly recommend this location as a viable option during your visit to the area or for weekend getaway
Courteous host, beautiful place to stay!
Rachel was a wonderful host, she made sure we felt at home as soon as we checked in. When we had a minor issue she was able to get it fixed right away and kept us in the loop as it was being resolved. The cottage itself was gorgeous, couldn't have asked for a more beautiful place to stay!
Next time, we'll stay more nights!
Among the warmest welcomes ever! This very neat little house is easy to find, spotless, and full of interesting accents. Rachel's personable welcome included wine or freshly perked coffee, tea, cookies, bagels/cream cheese and cold cucumber water in the fridge, chocolates on the pillows, farm fresh eggs to cook for breakfast - "above and beyond" hospitality! Home run! Next time, we'll want to stay longer and enjoy it all more slowly! Thank you Rachel!
