About Lucy or Len Myers

Len and Lucy grew up in Minnesota and having lived a number of post graduation years in southwest Florida, decided they missed having seasons and decided they wanted a more moderate climate than where they grew up and to escape the rat race.. They discovered the beauty and peacefulness of western North Caroline and fell in love with the mountains.

Lucy or Len Myers purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Lucy or Len Myers chose Franklin

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is what was written in the guest book. When we booked our stay at your cabin, we had no idea we would feel so at home. The view is spectacular and the cabin is absolutely beautiful. It was a great escape from the south Mississippi heat. Thank you so much for the blackberry jam. It was a huge hit with my family. We are already planning our next trip! Thank you so very much for your kindness and hospitality.

All the feel of home.

The surroundings and quiet. We were fortunate the leaves were at the peak of color, what beauty.

Owner's Response: Jacksonville, Fall this year has been late and extended. The pear trees are putting in a stunning show now with their peach, orange, red and green, all in the same tree!

A perfect, cozy getaway cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our 6-day stay at the Myers Snuggery! The location, although remote, was a perfect distance from all of the sites and attractions that we wanted to visit. The cabin was clean and had just about everything we needed for a perfect stay. Just a couple of suggestions (these do not affect my review in any way):

1. The path up to the cabin is gravel and pretty steep. We did make it up fine in our 2WD SUV.

2. The cabin is equipped with internet, but the speed is not fast enough if you're looking to work while on vacation (which was something we truly enjoyed as our main goal was to break the stress-tether and get away from our busy lives).

I can honestly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a comfortable, quiet time in a place with a gorgeous view!

Owner's Response: Jax, The cabin is located at an elevation of 3500’. The driveway provides a gravel access easy to navigate with all wheel drive. Many have made it work without. We have WiFi internet access which occasionally will slow down due to phone line power flux. Management

Quiet and Cozy!

Luxury camping. The kitchen had ample dishes, Cookware, small appliances and utensils. It could use more lights or brighter light bulbs for us with older eyes. It was a very nice week.

Myers Snuggery is the perfect little get away.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. Myers Snuggery was the perfect place. Close to everything. We left everyday and was happy to return to our home away from home. It was clean and had all the comforts we needed. Thanks Len and Lucy for everything.

Nice get away

  • 4 of 5

Cabin is as shown, clean, working well, water tastes great and hot water is good. Lucy & Len are not far way and very responsive to any inquiries.. Neighbors are unseen due to the woods and mountains but there are a number of homes. The single lane gravel roadway is steep and bumpy in sections. Going slowly in a weighted down Elantra, we did fine though. Internet during our stay was minimal. As roving retirees we depend on the internet and had to spend 2 half days, of our 8 day stay, at the library in Franklin. We could usually get email but could not upload video to Google, nor reliably pay bills using the cabin network. Our AT&T mobile phones also had connecting problems. We REALLY enjoyed Cafe REL in Franklen. The gem museum and old jail museum was very interesting and free plus their gift shop prices were low.

Owner's Response: Wisconsin, We regret every aspect of your stay was not perfect. In defense of the intermittent Internet access problems that week, it was right after the hurricane & a tornado came through our area and there were lines the phone/power folks were working to get up and running. Created a lot of downed trees and devastation which has mostly been cleaned up. There was not a lot of compassion on the part of guest. We ARE in the mountains and the phone that works well here is Verizon. We have no problems using our cell phone. Owner

The" cabin feel "with all the extras was totally GREAT!

  • 5 of 5

Tom and I totally loved being up in the Great Mountains of North Carolina. The full month from Aug.15th to Sept 15th.

The friendly little town of Franklin down the mountain had everything we needed. Went to Shoney's for the Buffet Breakfasts opens at 7:00am. The buffet allowed us to have that one big meal a day. Giving us time to see all the adventures. and snacking late afternoon and eve.

The water falls near by. Tallulah Falls was oh so great. The museum was filled with so much information of the past and present.

The cabin (really a home ) was so cozy. Cool nights to sleep but also radiator heat if needed. The deck was a favorite place every morning with coffee. (days we stayed in the Snuggery cabin. The Direct TV service worked all the time as wanted. Also enjoyed having the DVD's . The appliances, bathroom, bedrooms were clean and good sized. Having the washer and dryer (full large sized) made our month stay a lot easier. Did not have to pack too many clothes. The provided laundry soap , the shampoo and soaps as well as all dishes etc. all helped the stay so much nicer. The walks around the high top of the mountains and

the beauty of nature all around was wonderful. All the people we meet are totally caring and friendly. helping others in so many ways. The special event was this year was the ECLIPSE.. the pot luck party up on Top of the mountain by Betty & TJ pluse 35 + was tons of fun.

We plan to be back again next year, maybe even before, to try out the fall and winters months. So many interesting comments in the comment book which many people wrote in helped us to know how staying in the Snuggery cabin in all parts of the year makes us think about staying a few more weeks this year.

Thank You Len and Lucy for the hospitality the home soup was oh so good, and the beauty of the art work all around us was wonderful.

May God Keep Blessing you both with good health and Happiness.

Peggy & Tom Ellers.
