About Dorothy Hall

We live only about 2 hours away and have always loved the Twin Lakes area. This is a great vacation area for our friends and family. It's our home away from home and a place for great family get together!

Dorothy Hall purchased this house in 2009

Why Dorothy Hall chose Kentucky

We chose this home because it was neat ,clean, spacious, with lots of closet space. It was in a safe area with really friendly people all around for neighbors. We love the wooded lot behind us and the wild flowers in the spring! So close to so many things to do, while definitely in the woods too! Our house sits one street off the lake on a hill. There's a few less critters that I don't miss up there ( not so many snakes as by the water and bugs are not as plentiful!) Not directly on the water, but it has its perks too!

What makes this house unique

We love to tour the small lake roads that intertwine one into another and check out all the views of the lake area... Around sunset, you can go see all the deer with their babies and since they are used to seeing people, you can sit and watch them up close. Red Fox are a common site also. There are lots of places to fish from the banks, as well as quick lake access.

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!

I'm not sure what is wrong with the one lady above, but I believe she either accidentally reviewed the wrong house, or she took a wrong turn on the way to the Ritz-Carlton. I stayed at this place and it WAS SPOTLESS!!! The view was nice, house was clean, and I was accomadated as advertised. The only problem with my stay is that it wasn't long enough!! Would recommend to anyone and I will be staying here again!

Great Place in the midst of Nowhere.

The property was exactly as advertised. The owners are very informative and friendly. It is several turns off the beaten path and has virtually NO cell phone services, so make sure to print directions before leaving home. And realize that you will be "off the grid" unless you go down to the owners house and tap into their wi-fi (nice perk).

I rented the property so that family and friends could come and visit with us. So, we had a flux of folks coming and going and the space was more than adequate - nice size kitchen with all the amenities - separate dining plus kitchen table (good for extra folks) - nice back deck - plenty of grass for kids to run around. All three bedrooms were very well stocked in pillows, blankets and linens plus enough bathroom/kitchen rags and towels that we didn't have to wash while we were there.

It's also important to note that this property is not on the water - this was what we wanted (keeps small kiddos away from water) - but this might not be for everyone. That said, there is access (directly behind the house, across the street, and down the hill) to a boat dock and small inlet of water. This year's flooding kept us out of the water, but the $5/day access fee to the Lake Barley Fitness Center delivered a GREAT swimming experience for all.

Our stay at property 428660

  • 2 of 5

We enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful visit with our Grandson and his family from Iowa.

The house was big enough to comfortably give everyone the space needed. As we were told,

ahead of time that the roads were curvy, this was not good for our great-ganddaugher who got

car sick. I do need to report several things that could be improved on:

Most curtains and blinds could not be opened, therefore the house was dark in day time, except

the sliding door in the kitchen eating area that could not be closed enough to keep out the very hot

sun in the afternoon. The biggest problem for ME was the street light outside our bedroom window

which the curtains were not heavy enough to darken the room.

Being Clean - The front and back porch and furniture was very dirty, and we could not get clean. The

bar-b-que, took my husband two hours to clean enough to use. And there was mold in the master

shower. We will not be staying at this house again.

Owner's Response: i am glad you enjoyed your stay , your visit with family and the house provided you with plenty of space. Sorry about any inconveniences. I will check out the blinds to make sure they open, close properly. The street light does shine toward the front of our house more than I wish and causes light to reflect from the White House. Bugs seem to be attracted to this! I'll work on that! I and my housekeeper were unaware of any mold in master bath shower, but we will certainly check throughly and make sure to zap that! We received 16 inches of rain in July ,,severe thunder and wind storms, so keeping things outside has been very challenging! I would imagine the grill, which was only one month old, may have got missed due to this. We will certainly check this better! I'm just glad the new roof kept that 16 inches of rain out and the central air kept the 90 plus heat and extreme humidity under control. Your review is the first to be considered not a good one. I hope in the long run the things that were less than perfect were minor, not major. Thanks for your stay at our house and taking good care of our place.

Six month renter

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in this rental for six months. Myself, and my family on the weekends, absolutely loved it. The unit is spacious, comfortable and well maintained. The owners are genuine, honest individuals who will get you anything you need and provide you with a clean, well kept, rental.

You may not be directly on the water, but have water access for fishing, have unique and relaxing views from your windows, encounters with wildlife, kind neighbors and a relaxing stay.

I highly recommend this unit!

Great place to stay. Everything as advertised.

The owner was very helpful with the house and area information. Just what we expected with no surprises. Great place for a family or couple's get away. We were told to expect wildlife and were not disappointed. Deer, squirrels, groundhog, chipmunks and birds are always visiting.

Just as advertised, had a great stay.

  • 5 of 5

This house worked great for our stay and I would recommend it. The relator Misty was great to work with and was happy to help us every time we called. The drive coming in was beautiful but I would recommend a GPS because it's a little confusing at night getting there with all the turns and hill's. The property was clean and well maintained as advertised.

Owner's Response: I just want to say as the owner "Thank You for choosing our place to stay and especially for taking such good care of the property". Our property management team does really try to please and help the guests. You are correct about finding your way there at night, if you have never been there. We can help with that! We are better than a GPS! Just ask us for special directions! Thanks again!
