Can you imagine a rural, contemporary/nautical, waterfront home only 45 minutes from the famous seashore of the Outer Banks, NC? Ten minutes away there is a ferry that will take you to Knott's Island for a day of fun there as well.
This 10 acre slice of paradise is located just south of the VA state line, with a quick 30 minute drive on the Chesapeake Expressway to the Norfolk/VA Beach shopping areas.
For complete privacy, the driveway is 3/10 of a mile long, which ends at the beautiful home that sits on 250' of bulkhead waterfront.
The bulkhead includes a 100' pier which takes you to a sandy bottom swimming area only 3' deep. Located on Tulls Bay, just off the water way, the water level is 6-7' foot deep in the channel for boating, skiing, wake boarding, tubing, or just floating by your boat.
Surrounded by a wildlife paradise, you can catch a glimpse of Egrets, Blue Heron, Purple Martins and an occasional American Eagle along the protected wetlands of the area. Fishing is superb; along with crabbing, clamming, and net fishing at night, with proper fishing license. By water, you are just a short run to the Northwest River, Back Bay and The Albermarle Sound. Boating is a must!
The yard is approx 2.5 acres with lush flower beds and of course, the expansive veiw of Tulls Bay. Each evening the western horizon illuminates with some of the most breathtaking sunsets your eyes have ever seen. A property like this is 'few and far between' and a great escape from the hustle and bustle of nearby Hampton Roads.
The house is a 2300 square feet contemporary design, professionally decorated by Sondra Cooke, of Creative Designs by Sondra. Her works have been acknowledged on MTV 'CRIBS' ( Missy Elliot's house) and she has won mutliple Golden Awards from the Tidewater Building Association. She has also won an award for 'Best Swimming Pool Design', a National recognition.
Highlights of the home interior include a complete work out gym, master bedroom with full view of the bay, hot tub on the back deck and jacuzzi tub in the master bath, and attached garage for boat or car storage.
The house is equipped with Direct T.V. with DVR capability and two large screen T.V.'s. The kitchen is complimented with an oversized refrigerator with commercial features and all the usual kitchen amenities. The back deck faces Tulls Bay and connnects to an enclosed Sun Room/Porch with sliding patio doors. The pier is just a short walk away, in addition to a masonry 'burn pit' for night time relaxing and star gazing.
So, get ready for a break from 'Rat Race' living! Launch your boat at the public ramp just approx. a mile away, tie up to the pier, and set sail for relaxation, recreation, and the discovery of one of the most diverse waterways on the east coast.
Wonderfully relaxing location! The backyard was peaceful and opened to Tulls Bay. It was hot but comfortable because of the breeze from the bay. There is plenty of sunshine and plenty of shade...great for eating outdoors. We sat at the end of the pier half the time and the kids played in the shallow water. The house was adorable though we weren't inside much!
Looks like a cute place. Was interested in staying here, but no one answered any of the listed contact numbers, or returned phone calls. Best of luck to those thinking of staying here!
Thank you, Sondra, for your kindness and hospitality! We had such a memorable vacation in your lovely home. Sitting on the dock and watching fish jump out of the water while sipping coffee is something I'll remember for a long time! Watching the children playing Frisbee in the very large yard, kayaking on the lovely bay, roasting marshmallows and hotdogs by the fire - just wonderful memories! Thank you so much!
Loved the outdoor space from the covered front porch to the wonderful deck with hot tub, fire pit and dock. We kayaked, fished, crabbed and lounged in the hammock. Peaceful, quite and beautiful. Great for us and two boys. Day trips to obx. Nice to come back to the quiet and privacy after the day at the beach. Thanks for sharing your place with us!
Beautiful piece of property on the bay. Our family (mom & dad and 4 kids (ages 11,8, 2 & 2) enjoyed a week of outdoor activities. Home has hot tub and awesome fishing pier which is 2nd to none! The owner (Sondra) is awesome to work with and eager to make your stay special. Her home has everything you would ever need on a vacation...from fully furnished kitchen to an awesome burn pit out back on the bay. Oh and a nice grill for use is available. We had a great cookout with our family! The home is quite large and being that it is a ranch it was ideal for chasing our toddlers around. Will definitely stay again. Great owner, great value, great time! A+
This home had everything we needed to have an amazing vacation. With an awesome pier, hammock, fire pit, hot tub, and a comfortable, beautifully decorated house, we couldn't have been happier with our stay. We had a little blip with the power going out due to a storm and the heat/AC didn't want to work right after that. Sondra went out of her way to stop by and do what she could to remedy the situation. She's a rock star!
Ate at some great restaurants/carry outs in town. Went to Sakura's for lunch a few days - it was an all you can eat sushi/hibachi place - phenomenal! Also hit Frog Island - a little hole in the wall place with AMAZING seafood. Try the alligator bites!
The fishing off the pier was was the highlight of the trip! We caught catfish, blue gill, bass, eel, perch, and a HUGE 40lb+ gar. So much fun. We want to come back when the crabs are in season.
Located 45 minutes from Nag's Head at the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Also only 30 minutes from Virginia Beach ,Va.
