The Landing Restaurant is on the water just a few steps up the road next to the Public Boat Launch. When David and I first married we had a dream of owning a cabin on Lake Vermilion. I grew up canoeing in the Boundary Waters National Park and Vermilion borders this park. In 1995 we bought island property on Vermilion and have raised our family enjoying the summers on Lake Vermilion.
The time we spend in this magical place have created memories that have bonded us together in a way that would not have happened in Minneapolis. The beauty of this place never ceases to take my breath away. My muscles relax the minute we see the water.
In 2012 we bought the cutest vintage 1950's cabin on the mainland and named it Caroline's Cottage. It has been lovingly restored with hand-craftmandhsip.
We want to share the Vermilion experience with you! We want you to feel like it is your own retreat and to offer you a place to create memories you will not forget, year after year.

Amazing fishing lake too!
Location is fabulous, wide open view of the lake but also convenient.

Caroline's Cottage is right next door to vrbo cabin 217602
It was exactly as we expected. It was private, close by boat, car or a nice walk to restaurants and stores. We loved the beach although you will want some water shoes because if you go in a bit deeper than a few feet, there are some rocks but no weeds! We didn't have one complaint! The cabin was clean and comfortable. I will agree with one previous review but only because we had a few rainy days, one more comfortable chair would be a great addition to the living area. However, outdoors you have all the seating you need - we brought extra outdoor chairs just in case and didn't need them. The private dock was really nice to have. The beds were comfortable and that is always a concern for us. The refrigerator was a very nice surprise as it was large enough to hold all of our food and beverages for the week. We used the grill so we didn't miss the oven at all. Stovetop was all we needed.
Thanks for making this available No doubt, we will be back!

We enjoyed our stay and had a very relaxing week. We just had a couple suggestions that would have made our visit even better: 1. Kitchen: provide ice cream scoop, rubber spatula , new can opener and new barbecue tongs; 2. Bathroom: provide hair dryer, soap, shampoo and conditioner. Possibly new flat drain in shower? Not much water pressure so I didn't wash my hair. 3. Living Room: Maybe change out the Rattan chair for a comfy chair? Need more seating that's comfortable... My husband has a bad back and would lie down on the sofa and then I would end up sitting in the Rattan chair which, if you're watching a movie at night for 2 hours, is not very comfortable at all. Also, there were some burned out bulbs in the kitchen and living room and since we couldn't find any that fit the living room we went out and bought 2 bulbs.
It's a very cute cabin and was very clean. It wouldn't probably take much to just upgrade a few things (like maybe the TV, remove the stained area rugs) to make it even better. Just some feedback from us. It's a great location...so quiet. Docking the boat was easy. We sat outside everyday on the patio and had happy hour and watched the sunset. Also, we loved eating at The Landings and going down to Moosebirds for ice cream....great location! Thank you!
We had a great stay at Caroline's cottage. Boat lift was an extra "nice to have." Cabin was in great condition and owners were attentive throughout the entire process. Kitchen was well stocked and firepit, smore sticks and shed with dry wood were all great touches. Thanks for a great stay!
We really enjoyed our time at Caroline's Cottage. The weather was perfect. We caught some nice walleye and got to see at least some of the lake. We drove up to Crane Lake and hiked in to the gorge, then stopped at Vermillion Falls, which was WELL worth the drive! We used the kayaks and even took our little Min Pin along. All-in-all, this is a very quiet spot, not too far from town and many resorts and restaurants.
Enjoyed the view, the walks, the water and canoe. Took some side trips on windy days. Found the cabin clean and comfortable. Walked up road 24 numerous times and saw deer and ate a lot of ice cream at Moosebirds. Had a good dinner at the Landing and a good fish fry at the Crescent. Cooked several meals over the fire pit at the cabin and enjoyed s'mores over the open fie also. Thank you for a relaxing time.
We had a great visit at Caroline's Cottage! We actually live on a lake in central Minnesota, but lakes in Northern Minnesota are such a treat for us---less busy, cleaner, & more wildlife. We loved being only steps away from the water. Our 10 and 13 year old daughters enjoyed how handy the beach and dock were. We all used the canoe and kayaks almost daily and loved having the bonfires right by the lake. We brought our own boat and tied it to the dock with no problems, leaving our trailer at a neighboring parking lot. When searching for a vacation cabin, I was specifically drawn to the newly remodeled kitchen and bathroom pictured on the web site, and was pleased with how clean it all was. There was plenty of space for our 4 person family. When I did have questions and concerns, Marci was prompt and thorough with her responses and addressed all our needs. We spent most of our time at the cabin or on the lake fishing, tubing, and skiing. The other boaters were extremely friendly, with almost all of the boaters waving and smiling at us. We did find some time to visit the Soudan Mine (a must see!), the North American Bear Center (excellent), ate the famous pizza at The Vermilion Club (try the Bamboozler!), and boated to the Wolf Bay (good food, great atmosphere). I would highly recommend this for a family or couple who is looking for some relaxation, fun, and time outdoors.
