Appartamento Limone is situated on an award winning organic olive farm, surrounded by olive groves, orchards and sweet smelling pines.

The apartment offers both rustic charm and simplicity so typical of Tuscan rural houses. This is the ideal place to stay if you are looking to immerse yourself into a typically authentic Tuscan lifestyle.

The apartment has its own private entrance and is situated opposite the main mill house with lovely views over the gardens, fruit trees and olive groves.

You will be able to see the farmers at work, the mill where the oil is produced and sample the wonderful tastes which are produced on this charming farm.

The bedroom has a traditional Tuscan wrought iron bed (queen size) and a single bed which can be used as a child’s bed or as an additional seating /lounging area.

There is plenty of storage in the way of a large wardrobe and antique dressing table and the bedroom is air-conditioned.

Additional pull down/Murphy beds are also available in this room. A large ceiling fan keeps the room cool in the warmer summer months.

If you need to pick up supplies the village center is just a 2 minute drive away or for those who like walking it’s a 10–15 minute picturesque wander past the kiwi plantations and Medieval towers.

Come in the spring and witness the fruit trees in blossom and buttercups meadows, visit in the summer and see the surrounding sunflower fields.

In September you will see the harvest of the grapes and in October you will see the harvest of the olives but to see the olives turned into the golden nectar you must come and visit in November!

Vicopisano is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful region of Tuscany and the cities of Pisa, Lucca, Florence and Siena, as well as being just under a 30 minute drive away from the Pisan coast, its beaches, Thermal Spas and Golf Course

Surrounded by a beautiful landscape of sunflower fields, pine covered hills, and olive groves this is an ideal location for walking, hiking, cycling and mountain biking.

About Marie and Lorenzo

The Farm Il Frantoio di Vicopisano came into being from Nicola Bovoli and his family’s love for food, quality and the Tuscan landscape.

The adventure began in the Eighties when they bought a farmhouse, a mill and about ten hectares of olive trees in the beautiful Medieval village of Vicopisano, on the lower slopes of the Monte Pisano.

Today the organic farm produces an award winning olive oil, a wonderful red wine from the Sangiovese grape, and various other organic produce which is available for purchase not only throughout Italy and at the farm's own shop but also in exclusive outlets in America.

Nicola and his wife Lucia are both from Tuscany and have 2 children: Simona their daughter lives on the farm and works in the office and is very much hands on in the business and she is also a qualified and professional olive oil taster. Nephew Francesco and his wife Valentina also work at the farm. Francesco works the land, tends the olives and sometimes jumps off his tractor to offer guided tours round the mill and farm!

Valentina helps with bookings alongside Marie and Lorenzo (pictured) who are English speaking booking agents who are based in the village, it is Marie and Lorenzo who will initially deal with your booking enquiries.

Marie & Lorenzo are not Bovili family members but have come to know and love this idyllic place on the hill and the hospitality of the family. Marie is British and will be on hand for all English Language enquiries, although all the Bovili family do speak English and there will always be a family member close at hand during your stay.

Marie and Lorenzo purchased this apartment in 1980

Why Marie and Lorenzo chose Valdarno Inferiore

The property was purchased initially with a view to starting the olive oil business, however it was the love of the Tuscan landscape and the favorable micro climate which swayed the decision for the Bovili family to settle in this area. The farm is surrounded by almost 3000 olive trees, a large vineyard, a rich orchard and a sweet smelling pine forest. At the heart of the estate stands an ancient olive oil mill (Frantoio) where all the freshly picked olives are turned into the golden oil .

What makes this apartment unique

The farm (Frantoio) is also ideally situated close to the village of Vicopisano and all its amenities. The village is known as one of the most beautiful villages in Tuscany and is ideally situated close to the city of Pisa and it’s international airport and within easy reach of the beautiful Tuscan cities of Lucca and Florence and just 30 minutes away from the Pisan coast and golf courses .

Beautiful apartment on a working olive farm - we just loved the people and the location!

  • 5 of 5

The location, near Vicopisano, was perfect for our trip. We stayed for 10 days and split our time between day trips to nearby towns and cities or just chilling on site or in Vicopisano. Small towns like Buti were charming, Pontedera has the Piaggio ( Vespa) museum and Pisa was amazing! Vicopisano was home base and we loved the people, the tree-lined streets and the amazing history that you could see and explore.

The apartment had everything we wanted to relax or to cook and we often had espresso on the patio. Everything you could want was available just a short 12-minute walk into Vicopisano. From fresh produce, bread, cheese, WINE and even prepared meals! And of course, restaurants and coffee shops, when you want.

Marco, was very helpful and was a great host/guide when we took the tour of the farm, in explaining the process of making olive oil right on site and the olive oil tasting - complete with wine - of course!

Marie and Lorenzo were amazing hosts. We spent an evening with them and other travelers over Prosecco and olives! We heard many great stories of travel in the local area and got great advice and suggestions on some of our day trips. One suggestion was for our walk to the tower in Pisa that would take us past many other sites. It made that day a hit!

I would not be surprised that we book another stay here. Still so much more to explore!

Authentic Tuscan apartment with stunning views. Set on an olive farm with the backdrop of olive groves up the hillside. Our second stay here was better than the first. Ideal location for visiting all of this part of Tuscany. Great restaurants in Vicopisano. Excellent hospitality from the hosts and advice on where to visit and eat.

Loved it....

quiet, with beautiful views, well equipped but within walking distance of the village

  • 5 of 5

Marie and Lorenzo made sure that we had a great experience, from the exact instructions for how to get to the apartment from the airport, to having us around for a drink, to Lorenzo taking us to the garage to get our tyre fixed. The information left in the apartment was very comprehensive. The apartment itself is on a farm with olives, kiwis and grapes in a beautiful location. The owners were always on hand if we had any queries or problems. A wonderful place to stay.

Outstanding setting

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 16 days here. The weather was perfect. The apartment was situated so we had the most amazing view of the tower in Vicopisano and we so enjoyed sitting outside for breakfast etc. The owners, staff and Marie and Lorenzo couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. We had a tour of the olive farm with Marco and tasted the various oils and of course, some wine! We were only sorry we could bring back such a small sample of the delicious olive oil. We will look back on our holiday every time we use them.

Ideally situated for visiting Florence, Lucca, Volterra etc. We took the train to Florence which was cheap (27 Euros return for 2), on time and hassle free. Train station is in the heart of Florence so easy walking to all the beautiful sights. We had a car for whole holiday so were able to explore all the hilltop towns and villages including the birthplace of Andrea Bocelli.

The little square in Vicopsiano is the perfect spot to have a drink or a gelato and watch the world go by!

Our apartment was adequate, only small gripe was the lack of hot water and noise from adjoining apartment. Due to the tiled floors every time a chair was moved it was very loud (obviously our neighbour would have the same problem with us), only minor problems really.

This is such a lovely part of Tuscany plus the food and wine are terrific. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property and would love to return.

Owner's Response: Dear Christina M, thank you for your fabulous and informative review of Appartamento Limone. We are sure future guests will love hearing all your hints and tips for getting around. It was great to hear that you managed to see all the majour sites in addition to the smaller hilltop towns and villages. You like many of our guests love to spend the evenings in the village square at one of the small bars, you are right it’s a great place to stop and watch the world go by! We are also lucky to have a superb gelateria in the main square who provides us with delicious artisan ice- cream! We are sorry to hear that there was a lack of hot water and that you heard the moving of the chairs in the next-door apartment. This is something as property managers we will pass on the owners and we are sure it will be quickly resolved. We thank you for this feedback as it’s very important for us to know about these issues so we can resolve them immediately. We thank you for recommending Appartamento Limone, it was lovely to meet you and we certainly hope that you will return. Until then take care and best wishes Marie and Lorenzo

Wonderful vacation on an Olive Farm in Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

We can't say enough about how we fell in love with the farm, the town of Vicopisano and Tuscany in general! Thanks to Marie and Lorenzo for helping us get our stay organized. Marie was always responsive to questions and gave us lot of information for our stay - driving instructions, where to eat & shop and what to enjoy!

Lucia (the owner) and the farm staff were helpful any time we needed something. Marco was the host for our olive farm tour and tasting. What a wonderful way to truly understand the journey of olives from the tree to your table!

We loved our apartment; cooked most of our own meals on site and enjoyed the patio, especially at coffee time! We spent our time walking to and around the town of Vicopisano and driving through the countryside, visiting the small towns along the way. The tour of the Brunelleschi tower (which is the view out the bedroom window) is well worth it. This location provides easy access to Florence, Pisa and Lucca as well as lesser known sites like the Vespa museum in Pontedera.
