About Margaret

We built this log home in 2005, , we love the peace and quiet of the mountains, We welcome your family and pet dog,

Margaret is from Liverpool England, and you will notice the references to the beetle's music, including of course the name of the street which the house is on.

John is an avid golfer and can tell you about every golf course in Tennessee and North Carolina.

Margaret purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Margaret chose Asheville Area

Golf is available in nearby Tennessee, Name is Buffalo Valley golf course

and also in Weaverville, Rheems Creek golf course which is half an hour away. there are many other golf courses in the area.

besides the beautiful view, we have paved roads and a paved driveway, which makes you feel safer when driving.

What makes this cabin unique

having the owners close by, gives you more amenities for instance, stuck in the snow, we have the vehicle to pull you out, need a cup of sugar just ask, need baby sitters or dogs fed, just ask, or anything else you might have forgotten.

We also have a larger Home that sleeps twelve in the same area

VRBO #768697

Guestbook comments from the owner

first, I would like to apologize if my guest felt that way about our cabin, we do explain in our listing that we (my husband and I) live on the lower level of the house, I am at present unable to go upstairs as I have broken my foot and cannot walk, but I will speak to my cleaning staff about the condition of the house, I have never had a complaint in all the years I have been in business,

My Husband always goes around the driveway and greets each new guest when they arrive, he knocks on the door if they have already gone inside and they don't hear him he will go in to see if they need any help with their luggage, or need firewood, or any information, which most people do.

Perfect. Best vacation in years, if not ever

  • 5 of 5

The house was such that the pictures don't do it justice. From the minute we arrived we were in awe of the view and the property. We didn't turn the TV on once as we spent all of our time on the FANTASTIC deck and outdoor living area. With the exception of one night we took advantage of the fireplace in the outdoor living area and the firewood supplied by John and Margaret. We found it very convenient to have the owners living on the property, it was nice to have them there to answer questions and give advice about local attractions. For those that may be a little apprehensive about having them there, don't be, they were very unobtrusive and when we did interact with them they were very, very nice and you could tell they were good people. The property is far enough away from everything that at night the only thing you could hear were the crickets and see zillions of stars, yet close enough that a large grocery store was 20 minutes away and a convenience store/gas station is 10 minutes away. Asheville is a scenic 30 minute drive if you want to check out one of the dozens of breweries or restaurants, or if you want to shop. For the adventurous sort there are multiple white water rafting choices as well as zip line, hiking, scenic drives etc. If you are a cyclist you can head out the front door and descend the switchbacks that come up from the main road and explore the back roads of western North Carolina. We ran out of time to do everything we wanted to do. Highly recommended!!!! One little nugget of advice. Take your bike or walk up to the abandoned airport about 1/8 of a mile away. It's a 2500 ft runway that was constructed and never used. It is back a road (Airport) marked private, but you should be okay. There are more amazing views there as well. I wish I could give more than 5 stars.

Wonderful, relaxing mountain home

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely 2-night stay this summer. The home was spacious and comfortable and the view was stunning! Margaret and John met us there, showed us around the property and made sure we had everything we needed - they even had wood in the fireplace on the deck ready for use (which we did use Friday evening)! Lots of hiking trails with beautiful views and an easy drive to Asheville. We had a wonderful stay!

It felt like home.....but much cooler VRBO property # 428492

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we met John and Margaret Steiger, we knew we would he having a very pleasant 4 week stay. It just had to be better than Florida in July and at 4166' above sea level, it was. We did have some apprehension about living above our landlords, but it was fine. Absolutely no problems, and sometimes a blessing.

Both were very quick to meet our needs. The pantry area contains at least one on every appliance ever made, but alas, no griddle! Margaret ordered it the day we told her of its absence and our need for one. John played the role of plumber, exterminator and all around handyman.

The home itself had dramatic views and had a large living area. We felt the best aspect was the outside covered lanai which was even cooler than the wraparound porch. The Beatles theme was throughout even to the selections we made for the outdoor speaker system. Lots of books, CD"s, and stuff for children to while away the hours.

We had a great stay and hope to return in the near future.

This is an amazing home with a million dollar view

  • 5 of 5

This was truly a lovely vacation. The home is very nice with everything you need. Kitchen is very well stocked. If you need anything the owners were always available. We went into Asheville several times as it is only about 30 minutes to downtown. The best feature of this home however is the outdoor covered living area. The pictures do not do it justice. We lived out there the entire time. Outdoor fireplace, Webber gas grill and very comfortable nice furniture and the view is magnificent. We will come back here for sure.

Went for a couples weekend getaway and thoroughly enjoyed the cabin! The views were breathtaking and the wrap around porch with hot tub, fire place and dinning area were perfect for enjoying a night in.
