About Margaret

We built this log home in 2005, , we love the peace and quiet of the mountains, We welcome your family and pet dog,

Margaret is from Liverpool England, and you will notice the references to the beetle's music, including of course the name of the street which the house is on.

John is an avid golfer and can tell you about every golf course in Tennessee and North Carolina.

Margaret purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Margaret chose Asheville Area

Golf is available in nearby Tennessee, Name is Buffalo Valley golf course

and also in Weaverville, Rheems Creek golf course which is half an hour away. there are many other golf courses in the area.

besides the beautiful view, we have paved roads and a paved driveway, which makes you feel safer when driving.

What makes this cabin unique

having the owners close by, gives you more amenities for instance, stuck in the snow, we have the vehicle to pull you out, need a cup of sugar just ask, need baby sitters or dogs fed, just ask, or anything else you might have forgotten.

We also have a larger Home that sleeps twelve in the same area

Guestbook comments from the owner

first, I would like to apologize if my guest felt that way about our cabin, we do explain in our listing that we (my husband and I) live on the lower level of the house, I am at present unable to go upstairs as I have broken my foot and cannot walk, but I will speak to my cleaning staff about the condition of the house, I have never had a complaint in all the years I have been in business,

My Husband always goes around the driveway and greets each new guest when they arrive, he knocks on the door if they have already gone inside and they don't hear him he will go in to see if they need any help with their luggage, or need firewood, or any information, which most people do.

Beautiful mountain home - close, but not too close to Asheville

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this lovely home. It is very well appointed and looks exactly like the pictures. The kitchen was equipped with lots of pots, pans and cooking utensils. It also has all kinds of appliances like a coffee maker (no filters required), toaster, etc. The view is spectacular and the logs already prepared in the outdoor fireplace were a very nice touch.

It is a little challenging to find on the first try. Google maps is not accurate, so be sure to print out the written instructions you are sent. You will need them as you get closer to the home.

The other thing that was different about this home is that the owners actually live in the basement area of the home. You can hear them, smell their cooking, hear dogs barking, etc. We also received a visit from John. He came in to make sure everything was okay and ended up staying for a bit and sharing some funny stories, etc. We enjoyed that, but some other travelers may find that uncomfortable. So, if you are not interested in getting to know the hosts, you may just want to mention it in your correspondence and they will make themselves scarce.

Asheville is about a 30 minute drive, so it is great for a day visit. Overall, it was a really nice stay.

Gorgeous view, unfortunately the interior of the cabin were disappointing.

  • 1 of 5

We are accustomed to staying in clean and well maintained homes. This particular cabin needed a major cleaning and makeover. We were not aware that the owners live in the same house on the first floor. The owner surprised us when we arrived by just showing up in the living room. There was no knock or announcement of any kind that he was entering our living space.

Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful mountain views; covered outdoor area is perfect for visiting and eating; spacious kitchen/dining/great room.

30+ minutes to Asheville (where we did a wonderful Foodie Tour) and just over an hour to Linville Falls.

John & Margaret are delightful hosts - you'll never know they are there unless you need something.

We'll be back!

Beautiful Week in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at John and Margaret's lovely home in the mountains for a week with 4 adults and 2 toddlers. The house is gorgeous, had everything we needed for our vacation, and had more than enough space for our group. The location was a little far for our daily drives to Asheville/Biltmore (only 30 minutes), but the breathtaking views from the deck made it all worth it!! John was very helpful with anything we needed during our stay and Margaret responded almost immediately to any questions we had leading up to our trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already talking about the next time we will visit the area - and when we do, we plan to stay in this house again! Thanks for being lovely hosts, John and Margaret!

Incredible!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I stayed here for just a weekend and did NOT want to leave. This home is so gorgeous and it was so easy to enjoy and relax. Margaret and John are some of the most hospitable people ever! Everything was ready and set up for us when we arrived. The hottub was a great, the outdoor patio was awesome for grilling, and the rooms were cozy. I highly recommend this home for a getaway! We are already planning a time to come back and stay!

absolutely beauiful

  • 5 of 5

My family met my husband and I there over the Valentine weekend. The house was amazing, completed furnish and everything worked. (dish, Netflix and DVD, big screen TV's). It had breathless mountain views for miles, We never stay at a rental home more then one time, but i assure you we would rent this one again. There was no snow getting there, but when we turned to go up the mountain, it was snowing, having 4 wheel drive was a must, which was very much welcome. It was awesome to see snow, as we are from South Carolina. I have four grandchildren. They absolutely loved it. At the bottom of mountain we all went tubing. We also went to the Biltmore Estates which is 30 minutes away. If you have not seen that it is amazing place to visit and to eat there also, I recommend getting reservations. The food is unbelievable. If you like to gamble Cherokee is only one hour away. I also talked to the homeowner Margret several times and she was always very helpful. You will not be disappointed with renting this property.
