About Jennifer Sproul Whitesell

Welcome to the Sproul Family Ranch, located in the heart of the beautiful Davis Mountains! The original Sproul Ranch was founded in 1886 by Robert Stuart Sproul. Over 125 year later, the ranch is still a working cattle ranch, owned and operated by the fourth, fifth and sixth generations of Sproul descendants.

Jennifer Sproul Whitesell purchased this cabin in 1998

Why Jennifer Sproul Whitesell chose Big Bend

We love Limpia Canyon and want to share a piece of our paradise with you! We built the cabin in 1998 so that people could come experience the serenity and majesty of the Davis Mountains.

What makes this cabin unique

The quiet, peaceful solitude of La Cabana Escondida will make you love this place as much as we do!

Very nice cabin, private and beautiful.

My wife and I stayed at this cabin. It is private and secluded yet near to Ft. Davis and the State Park. Very clean and perfect for a getaway. Very beautiful scenery right out the front door and rear porch!

Fantastic cabin!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful cabin! The location was perfect, very easy to find. It was located just outside of town but you feel like you are far away. it was extremely clean and had everything you could possibly need. Jennifer was excellent to work with, answered all questions in a timely fashion. We will definitely stay here again. This is the only place to stay while you are visiting Fort Davis.

What a gem!

  • 5 of 5

What a great remote property. Very simple, but all the comforts you need. Jennifer (Owner) extremely easy to work with. If you have any intentions of visiting the McDonald Observatory or other activities in the Fort Davis area, and you are a couple with 1 or 2 kids forget about other lodging and hotels and rent this gem. Fully equipped kitchen, a much better choice than most restaurants in the area. Unbeleievable views from the cabin. Easy access to lots of activities in the Fort Davis, Marfa or Alpine area. We will definitely rent this property again

Absolutely wonderful cabin and area

  • 5 of 5

The description doesn't give this cabin enough credit. Not only is it as nice as it looks, it is wonderfully stocked with everything you need except food - linens, towels, paper goods, flatware, small appliances, etc. What is not mentioned in the description is that the cabin comes with a whole valley with groves of cottonwood trees, beautiful rock formations and abundant wildlife. The cabin and the valley are accessed through a locking gate so even though it feels far from civilization you feel safe. Of course, in reality, you are only about 10 minutes from the village of Fort Davis. I forgot to mention it comes with your own small herd of very sweet cattle. As you can tell, my wife and I love this place.

Family of 4

  • 5 of 5

This place was adorable, clean, fully stocked, fun to get to (its a bit of a trip down a dirt road but worth it for the privacy), roomy for its size and in every way perfect for our family of four. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors, the fire pit was a fun way to stay outside star gazing, the screened in porch was great for meals and the views from every window were amazing. This is a beautiful part of Texas and this modest but charming cabin fits right in.

Fort Davis Cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is nicely furnished and perfect for a couple looking to get away to the the mountains for a few days. We really enjoyed all the wildlife surrounding the cabin especially watching the eagles soaring above the cliffs. The stars on a clear night are spectacular and the porches are great for just kicking back and enjoying a glass of wine.
