The living style in Coronado is relaxed, tropical and luxurious. Take walks on the beach.
Coronado has many restaurants, 4 supermarkets, medical clinic, eye doctor, dentist, hardware stores, artisan shops, beauty salons.
Laura, the owner, lives near-by and manages the property herself. She has experience with vacation rentals for over 20 years. She knows direct contact between owner and guest is important. She also knows that keeping up the Calendar of availability is important.
Laura purchased this apartment in 2012
Coronado Beach has grown in conveniences and is a fun place. It is very Social. A great place for expats.
Walk on beach, 3 good restaurants down the street (walk a few minutes). Roof pool, gym, social area top notch. Fitness classes on site in the mornings (xtra charge). In Coronado there is a High concentration of expats and North American vistiors. Lot's of social activitives for NA's.
We really enjoyed staying in Laura's apt. She was great at communicating before our stay and gave us a good tour of the place upon arrival. We stayed here with our so kids and there was plenty of room for them to sleep on the couch. The bed was very comfortable and there is a nice breeze during the day. We enjoyed the pools and was access to the beach. We'll be back!
Also, the restaurant up the street, Luna Rosa, is owned by Florentine natives who make some great Tuscan food. Just a cool bonus.
We recently stayed 4 nights in this lovely and spacious 1 bedroom condo. We had to change our dates and the owner was very accommodating.
Since they do not live onsite, they conveniently met us at the main intersection and we followed them the short distance to the property where they not only toured us around the unit but the entire complex as well. Since they have been residents for many years they were happy to answer our many questions regarding everything from restaurants to is it safe to swim (it was). There are two lovely pools, one on the roof and one beachside. A shower and restroom are available by the beach entry as well as plenty of chaises, table, and chairs.
The unit is well appointed and comfortable with a nice patio. The entire wall is glass and you have spectacular views of the mountains and beach, with a gorgeous sunrise from the bedroom, living room, and dining room as well.
The kitchen has everything you will need and the owner has made available a large number of spices, herbs, oils, and vinegars, making it a little easier to prepare meals.
The washer and dryer came in very handy. The bed is comfortable. The cable has some english language stations, though we didn't use it much. There are three air conditioners which allowed us to keep things at a comfortable temperature as it was hot and humid for us (from San Francisco).
There isn't much within walking distance. A small market, a fonda, and a good Italian restaurant (Panama is big on Italian food, pizza in particular). I had a delicious lasagne there. A little further back towards the highway is Picassos (they have a delicious pizza, wood fired) and across the street, another pizzeria. You may be starting to get the point.
We enjoyed the rooftop pool in the evenings and a number of residents and guests come up during happy hour to socialize.
Shopping is very convenient...everything you will need is at the main intersection or within one block of it. 4 grocery stores, Target like stores, lots of little specialty shops. We want to give a shout out to the owner at California Hamburger. It IS a very good burger. Get the yucca fries.
We spent a couple of days exploring the area. Drove up to El Valle, out to Punta Chame. Spent time on the beach.
If you want very comfortable accommodations on the beach in Coronado, we would highly recommend this property. Be very clear about the return of your deposit would be our only other comment.
If traveling to Playa Coronado, this is the place to stay. The unit is completely stocked down to the tiny little details that make it a home away from home. The unit has wi-fi and a cell phone available for use (all you need to do is get a $2 or $5 card from the market down the street to get it connected). The books, dvd's, and premium cable provide entertainment. But those won't be necessary, as you'll want to spend every moment soaking up the amazing view. There're gorgeous beach views from every room. Even though you're on the 20th floor, you can still hear the waves crashing. And while there's a lovely dining room, we preferred to eat on the balcony.
While there are two pools on property, we mainly used the one on the ground floor. We even wandered into a water aerobics class one day and managed to learn a few moves. We spent hours swimming...but with Panama's UV index, just be sure to keep reapplying sunscreen! The pool on the roof is also lovely. It's just smaller and my husband enjoys swimming laps. We would head up there during the evenings with a drink in hand and watch the sun slowly set. (The unit is on the sun rise side, which is nice because during the daytime, you can keep the curtains open and enjoy the view without the unit getting hot.)
I also can't say enough about Sharon and Laura. Unfortunately, Laura wasn't in town during our visit. However, she emailed us amazingly helpful information about the area and went out of her way to make sure that we were prepared for our first trip to Panama. Sharon was truly exceptional -- warm, welcoming, and helpful beyond measure. She didn't just get us settled in. Sharon would check on us throughout our trip to make sure we were comfortable and having a good time. She even helped us arrange a ride back to the airport after we abandoned our original idea to take the bus back to Panama City. (We hadn't realized what a huge holiday Easter is in Panama and the effect it would have on traffic.)
All in all, we would stay here again in a heartbeat and we thoroughly recommend you make this your home-away-from-home while in Playa Coronado.
We stayed three nights in this spacious, well-appointed condo at Coronado Bay. It had everything we needed to feel right at home, including a fantastic view to the east and north of the Pacific Ocean and a beautiful coastline. It was very clean and comfortable. The building is only six years old, so everything is fairly new and modern. Tile floors throughout, with air conditioners and ceiling fans in each room helped keep us comfortable. It even has a washer and dryer. The facility is very nice, with a huge pool area on two levels and a gated entrance to the beach. Plenty of chairs and tables, and lounge chairs, surrounded by beautiful trees and flowers. The rooftop deck pool was being refurbished so that was not available for our use, but we were able to go up there to view the gorgeous sunsets every evening. There is a small mercado fairly close where we could buy essentials, but the larger supermercado, El Rey, is a taxi ride away. There are a couple of restaurants nearby as well, (be sure to try Picasso's) though most are in the town of Coronado, which, again is an inexpensive taxi ride ($4) away. All in all, a beautiful, restful place to stay!
Condo was wonderful. Beautiful views and everything we needed inside. The owner Laura goes out of her way to make sure you have everything, including info about things in the area. And the Coronado area was fantastic too. We will definitely stay here again, loved it, but will stay much longer next time.
We just loved our stay at this condo at Coronado Bay.
It had everything we needed.
The view was spectacular. Pool and gym were great and just a few steps to the beach
Sharon was very helpful in getting us checked in and showing us around
Coronado is one of the most established and exclusive beach communities in Panama. It's were the Pacific Ocean meets the mountains and only 1 hour from Panama City (Tocumen airport -PTY- is 1.5 to 2 hrs). El Valle is 1 hour drive. There are 3 pools in the building. Our favorite is the one on the roof (floor 24). The gymnasium is grand; as is the sauna.
