Come Vacation at your very own Casita/Cottage on the wonderful island of Ambergris Caye.
Enjoy the personal care of your Canadian host, Karen! This self-catering one bedroom house is located in San Pedro just south of the town centre with the beach and fine dining only two minutes away. AND TWO SWIMMING POOLS AND BEACH LOUNGERS!!
A lovely one bedroom Casita located in a beautiful, quiet area. The Casita is equipped with air conditioning, 32' flat screen TV in living room, flat screen in bedroom, and wireless internet. Take the provided beach towels to the beach just two minutes from the Casita. Surrounding the Casita is a Tropical garden great for relaxing on the hammock while bird watching or just having a siesta.
I, Karen Young moved to San Pedro in 2011. I was born and raised in Ft. Nelson, British Columbia, Canada then moved to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I came here from Edmonton where I formerly worked as an Insurance Broker at MBS Insurance Brokers.
Karen Young purchased this cottage in 2011
I am a scuba diver and spent 10 years vacationing at various dive vacations spots. I came to Ambergris Caye for a dive vacation May of 2009 and made the move to enjoy this wonderful country!! It is the whole package with dive sites amazingly close and the underwater life fantastic and a wonderful small personable community.
The property is located in the best neighbourhood in San Pedro! A place to offer an unique experience for guests! A private beautifully maintained property where one can enjoy the beauty of nature. The Casita has a private deck, patio and seating by a hammock where one can relax while soaking up the peacefulness of the garden adorned with plants and trees. There are also numerous birds to watch like the banana bird and hummingbirds that come to drink from the flowers on the property.
We were very happy with our choice to stay at Karen's Mayflower Casita in early September. Everything was super convenient and just as advertised, and Karen was so helpful, picking us up at the dock we landed at and dropping us off at the water taxi at 6 in the morning on the day we left, and telling us all about San Pedro. The Casita bedroom has a powerful air-conditioner, which was so appreciated. Comfortable bed, lots of storage space, wifi, and everything very clean. There is a golfcart rental just one minute away from the Casita, at the Banana Beach resort, which is also open for your use as a Mayflower Casita guest, with pool and beach loungers. It's a nice beach, too, because there's access to the water, and you can walk right in and swim a bit. Walking north up the beach from Banana Beach, my husband and I went to Blue Water Grill one night (about a 20 min walk), and other parts of "downtown" were just a few more minutes north from there. Closer to the Casita, there's a _great_ bakery/coffeeshop called "The Baker" which is just minutes away, near some supermarkets and a pharmacy. We stayed in San Pedro for a couple of days after a stay at Tranquility Bay in the north of Ambergris, did a dive with Scuba School Belize one day, and took it easy on the beach/in town the other day. If we had stayed longer, we would have gone to Marco Gonzalez maya site and maybe another dive.
The moment Karen picked us up from the water taxi, she was delightful! She helped us find a specific elementary school (pack for a purpose.org) to drop a couple suitcases off, and when we left (3 days later).....she let me borrow one of her hair dryers (for 15 days, which I never used) thank you Karen!!! The Casita is, as shown, but cuter in person. Has all your basic needs and the luxury of Banana Beach within EASY walking distance (we are aged 55 & 66). We rented a golf cart (24 hrs) for $50, from the Barber Shop next to Wurguma restaurant to explore, FUN!! Mayflower Casita is a clean, comfortable, and cute spot. We'll be back ♡
The casita, and Karen were both wonderful. Karen picked us up from the airport, showed us popular spots for food and activities around the casita, and helped us arrange snorkeling during our stay. We were extremely grateful for her assistance. The casita itself was perfect. It was a quiet little vacation home, with a short walk to the beach and a nice stroll into downtown San Pedro with access to the bank, the grocery store and a variety of little shops and restaurants. It was exactly what we were looking for. We enjoyed time on the beach, great food at local restaurants, amazing snorkeling, and getting to know the locals. It was a blast, and we couldn't have asked for a better hostess, or accommodations. We look forward to visiting again in the future!
A wonderful location in a quiet spot just South of San Pedro, the Mayflower Casita had all the amenities needed to make our stay thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable.
Karen is the best possible host, taking care of all the details from transporting us to and from the airport, pointing out local places of interest and making us feel as comfortable and at home as possible. We were within easy walking distance to the grocery shops, a great bakery/cafe and restaurants.
The house and grounds are beautifully maintained and Karen has thoughtfully provided lounge chairs in a shady spot right outside the Casita for ease and relaxation. Since the Casita is just a few minutes’ walk to the beach and the pool area at Banana Beach hotel, we enjoyed a lot of pool time, walks along the shore and stopping in for refreshments and meals at De Vino’s. De Vino’s has excellent shrimp ceviche.
Attracted by fresh Jonah crab claws on the menu, we decided on Rico’s Restaurant on the beach(within walking distance) for our anniversary dinner where we dined on their deck overlooking the ocean, a perfect setting for our joyful celebration.
We highly recommend the Mayflower Casita for a truly great vacation stay.
Our 3 day stay was enhanced with this lovely home away from home. It was clean, comfortable and very nicely decorated. We enjoyed the many sitting areas that Karen created around this home. I especially enjoyed all the flora! Very creative and beautiful settings.
We appreciated the location as we are not interested in the hustle and bustle of the touristy area in San Pedro Town.
Our hostess and now friend, made every effort to have us feel welcomed and informed of the area. She recommended great places to explore and the best places to dine. Karen shared that Hol Chan was the best place for snorkeling......she was so right!!
Thank you, Karen! Your Casita is the best place for all travelers!
Mayflower Casita is located a two minute walk away from the ocean and Banana Beach Resort! Restaurants, beach bars, grocery stores, pharmacy, and bakery are a 5 minute walk away. The tiny 'down town' area is a 20 minute beach walk, a 10 minute bike ride or a 7 minute golf cart ride away. There are many more restaurants, beach bars, shops and grocery stores on the way to the 'down town' area!
Boat pick up for diving, fishing and snorkeling is a two minute walk away to the dock at Mata Rocks!
Mainland excursions leave every day from San Pedro and with ease you stay in San Pedro but enjoy excursions to the mainland to see Mayan Sites, Belize Zoo, and enjoy ZIp Lining and Cave Tubbing!
