About chanelle cosumano
Retired Army General Joe and Chanelle reside in Rising Fawn, GA. They fell so in love with their Mentone home, that they now live only 20 min. away at the base of the Mtn. They are now enjoying retired life, but no slowing down for these two. Joe served 36 years in the Army and 15 years working in the Civilian world. With 5 daughters including the youngest now in college, 4 grand children and 2 fur babies, including their 2 year old German German Shepherd Reagan that is in training to be a Search and Rescue dog, these two don't slow down. Chanelle and Joe look forward to meeting their guest, working in their Swanky Sheep Furniture Studio on the property and traveling in their Motor Coach with Reagan and often children or grandchildren through the U.S. to see amazing parts of America, assist with Reagan in Search and Rescue when called and to visit old friends. Their approach to renting their home, to you, is unique! Their focus on your comfort, happiness is obvious in every detail. They treat you as family! They always look forward the most to returning to Mentone! Chanelle and Joe will be spend time on the mountain and look forward to meeting their guest. They also travel by Motor Coach with Reagan and often children or grandchildren through the U.S. to see amazing parts of America, assist with Reagan in Search and Rescue when called and to visit old friends. They always look forward the most to returning to Mentone!

Why chanelle cosumano chose Mentone
Chanelle fell in love with Mentone back in 2002 when she traveled from New Orleans to bring their 8 year old daughter to camp! It was an instant love affair with Mentone and the mountain. With a dream that Joe made a reality! The property needed a lot of TLC, it was back in the mid 1980's one of three homes built in the area for a Better Homes and Garden issue featuring mountain homes. The home at the time had all of the latest design ideas and technologies. With a career in interior design and and home renovation, she saw the vision. Joe couldn't quite see the vision, but fell in love with the 3 acres the home sat on and the view!!! With a large immediate family of 12 and extended family bringing the total to 22, plus friends, they knew this home would be a great family place of bonding, relaxing and taking a break from the day to day of life! Hence the name, Chateau de la Famille. The house and property continue to be a fun work in progress and most of the work has been done by Joe and Chanelle, along with the help of a local tradesman! The property the minute you step your foot onto the ground is almost sacred. You can feel the ground pulling out all of your stress and worries and the air filling your lungs, heart and soul with peace and happiness. This is really why we love our home and property.
What makes this Lodge unique
Mentone Vacation Rentals began with just one small sweet Cabin, The Tree House, in 2016 on the vacation estate of Gen. Joe and Chanelle Cosumano. The Estate had 3 vacation rental opportunities and soon due to travel, military and family obligations, The Cosumano's realized they would be gone frequently from their beloved mountain home. Instead of letting her sit empty, they chose to rent the entire estate. Chanelle had a vision to bring 5 star customer service and amenities to their business. The goal was and still is, to spoil and pamper their guests. To anticipate their needs and desires during their time on the mountain. To give them a trip that they will not only remember fondly, but a place they can call home and return time and time again. Gen. Joe and Chanelle have accomplished this by their endless amount of 5 star ratings on their now 11 rental opportunities in Mentone , AL. and Rising Fawn, GA. The Cosumano's can be found daily working their business, on their properties, personally booking their guests. The business started with Chanelle doing all marketing, booking, housekeeping and inventory and Joe doing the books. It has now grown to 11 rental opportunities, 1 full time housekeeper, 2 part time housekeepers, a reservation manager, concierge coordinator and maintenance tech. The Cosumano's recognize that to give their guests the best, they must run their business with the best and most well trained staff in the region! Anyone can list their home and had you a key. The Cosumano's share their home, welcome you as family and have set the bar high on delivering the best guest experience ever!

Great View and Location
Loved the view and location. Very clean and a nice setup to enjoy the views
Great view and location
Perfect for family of 4. Only complaint is this unit is on the lower floor on the 3 level home. There was another couple staying above us and the foot traffic above us was very loud to the point that I had to blast a sound machine app through my Bluetooth speaker to attempt to fall asleep. Otherwise the place is great. If you can get the entire house or ensure there is no one renting above you you’ll be good.
We so appreciate your business and your review. We are very sorry that the couple above were heavy walkers. We have rented the hideaway for over 3 years now with little issue. It is a great price and as you stated beautiful home on the bluff! Hard to find that in the area.
We hope you do return and we can help you find the perfect place to stay and give us another try!!
The view really is amazing. Cut and quaint property.
Thanks so much for the kind review!
It was nice and secluded
Enjoy The View wish there was information letting you know that there were a lot of stairs instead of saying they are some stairs and talking to the owner I'm not sure what that it was biased because I was black or not
Dear potential guests,
I address my response to you! I must have spent 30 minutes speaking to this guests not understanding his confusion. Our website and listings all clearly show the stairs which are 6 steps down the first set, then a walkway, then 8 down to the porch. If you are reading these reviews, you can go to see our photos. this guests had recent knee surgery and like most others that have a medical issue, he did not call to verify the layout of the home for his needs. He also complained that there were no walking trails on the property. We have never advertised trails on this property. He wanted to checkout early with a full refund. He did fail to mention that we thanked him for his service and refunded him back the military discount we give at the time of making the reservation. Lastly, to make any insinuation or reference to anything based on race, well..... I don't know. Anyone who knows us well enough, that my husband served proudly next to many Americans for 36 years in the Army and we have friends and guests of all backgrounds, this statement should show the validity of his complaint. Unfortunately, no matter how hard we try, we can not please all.
Beautiful spot and a great place to kick back.
Gorgeous views and comfortable condo to kick back relax and enjoy the outdoors!
A few suggestions...make sure appliances can be utilized in the kitchen without shorting circuits, more plastic serving ware options and a can opener would be great/simple additions to the kitchen. We love to cook and it was a bit challenging in this rental, but still overall Loved the view and serene setting-
We are thrilled that you loved our place and appreciated the amazing views. Unfortunately, the down trees (to clarify to readers, these are going down the back of the mountain, no where on the property where you walk and enjoy) are a casualty of location. We are on a mountain that is heavily forested. If we do not keep up with the trees, weeds and wild shrubs that are constantly encroaching on the back of the home, it would truly take over the house. It is also a safety hazard during storms to have large trees so close to the back of the home which is all glass. The mountain is too steep there to remove the trees. Yes, in the spring and summer they are covered by vines and more encroaching shrubs.
Yes, Mother Nature likes to have our lady bug friends visit the entire brow of the mountain and much of Alabama during certain seasons. We do our best to keep up with them and always do a final check and clean just before guests arrive. We are on a mountain and we do our best to spray outside to keep these away. We always let our guests know that we are happy to come in and clean up if need be. We want you to have a great experience! I guess we make our homes so wonderful for our guests, that the word is out and the lady bugs like to check us out too!
Thanks for choosing us and understanding that some things are truly beyond our control.
