About Frank

Hi I am a 45 years old guy from Amsterdam and I work as a human recourses consultant in the logistics industry. My partner and I have been living in the center of Amsterdam for many years, we both love Amsterdam, its compactness, its friendly atmosphere, its noisyness, its tranquility. Originally I am from the eastern part of the Netherlands (If you want to know the difference between Holland and The Netherlands I am happy to tell you when you here) and moved to Amsterdam when I was 21. My first room (student housing) was just around the corner and from that moment on I new I wanted to own an apartment in this part of the city.

Frank purchased this apartment in 2001

Why Frank chose Grachtengordel

Although no longer living there we don't want to sell it because its such a nice apartment in such an ideal location.

Whenever we have family or friends over we let them stay there and everyone who has always loves the great location!

What makes this apartment unique

From the south facing balcony at the back side of the apartment you have a nice view of the gardens of the 17th century canal houses on the Prinsengracht. It is amazing how peaceful and tranquil it can be in the middle of a buzzling city like Amsterdam.

Modern and convenient!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed this apartment; the bed was very comfortable and the kitchen had all the basic amenities. The appliances (stove, oven, washer-dryer) were modern. We had never seen a microwave option in an oven!! Clever idea when in need of space! Although spring weather was a bit late in coming this April we did get a chance to rent bikes (across the street) and really enjoyed the location. Despite being in a centrally located area, the place was quiet. During the warmer evenings we enjoyed being able to have a glass of wine on the little back deck. Also, nice selection of DVD movies. Definitely recommend.

Staying at a flat in the Grachtengordel District of Amsterdam, Netherlands

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this flat for the second time in a year, and for the second time we had an extremely enjoyable vacation. The flat is bright, clean, and very modern, with all the conveniences one could require. It is also centrally located, within easy walking distance to the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, the 9 Streets shopping district, etc., and if we ever wanted to travel farther afield, there are three trams running along a street less than a block away. I have recommended this flat to friends already, and I would recommend it without hesitation to anyone planning a visit to lovely Amsterdam.

The apartment was exactly as described. Clean and well appointed. Close to the tram stop and walking distance to the museums and city center. I would stay here again.

Excellent central area, quiet apartment, very responsive owner

  • 5 of 5

This is a modern, comfortable property, tastefully furnished and decorated right in the heart of old Amsterdam. The bed is excellent , wide enough and easy to access from both sides (which does matter when you get a little older ;-) ), and the bedroom is in the back, away from street noise. Not that this is a particularly noisy street in any case. You are a few steps from a main tram line and shopping street, ten minutes' walk from Vondel Park , twenty-five minutes walk from Centraal Station, and generally close to anything and everything charming. Well worth the price. Also, Frank, the owner, is incredibly responsive. The doors (especially downstairs) are a bit cranky, so make sure to pull them hard behind you.

Perfect location, lovely apartment, excellent host

  • 5 of 5

Frank helped us out with a last minute unexpected booking, and was extremely efficient and responsive at all times. His instructions to find the apartment were spot on, and the little folder of information he provided was very useful. The apartment location cannot be beaten, very close to trams and walkable to major sites including the Museums, Dam Square and Anne Frank House. A quick, simple tram journey from Centraal Station, too. The apartment itself is ideal for couples, roomy and comfortable, and having a washer and dryer certainly makes travelling life easier (a hairdryer also). We’ll definitely recommend Grachtengordel to any of our friends/family who visit Amsterdam (building stairs also wide and easy to manage with suitcases). Thanks Frank!
