About Frank

Hi I am a 45 years old guy from Amsterdam and I work as a human recourses consultant in the logistics industry. My partner and I have been living in the center of Amsterdam for many years, we both love Amsterdam, its compactness, its friendly atmosphere, its noisyness, its tranquility. Originally I am from the eastern part of the Netherlands (If you want to know the difference between Holland and The Netherlands I am happy to tell you when you here) and moved to Amsterdam when I was 21. My first room (student housing) was just around the corner and from that moment on I new I wanted to own an apartment in this part of the city.

Frank purchased this apartment in 2001

Why Frank chose Grachtengordel

Although no longer living there we don't want to sell it because its such a nice apartment in such an ideal location.

Whenever we have family or friends over we let them stay there and everyone who has always loves the great location!

What makes this apartment unique

From the south facing balcony at the back side of the apartment you have a nice view of the gardens of the 17th century canal houses on the Prinsengracht. It is amazing how peaceful and tranquil it can be in the middle of a buzzling city like Amsterdam.

Perfect location, lovely apartment, excellent host

  • 5 of 5

Frank helped us out with a last minute unexpected booking, and was extremely efficient and responsive at all times. His instructions to find the apartment were spot on, and the little folder of information he provided was very useful. The apartment location cannot be beaten, very close to trams and walkable to major sites including the Museums, Dam Square and Anne Frank House. A quick, simple tram journey from Centraal Station, too. The apartment itself is ideal for couples, roomy and comfortable, and having a washer and dryer certainly makes travelling life easier (a hairdryer also). We’ll definitely recommend Grachtengordel to any of our friends/family who visit Amsterdam (building stairs also wide and easy to manage with suitcases). Thanks Frank!

Frank’s apartment is very clean, comfortable, well equipped and well situated.

  • 4 of 5

My daughter and I had never been to Amsterdam before so appreciated Frank’s detailed instructions and the wide array of tourism info in the apartment. We spent our first three days walking out from the apt to all the highlights Jordaan, Centrum and the immediate area. For days 4 and 5 we rented bikes from City Bikes right across the street and used them to go a little further afield. City Bike guy was very helpful and provided us with our best map! We would definitely stay at the apartment again and recommend it without hesitation.

Cheerful, clean, and lovely

  • 5 of 5

Frank's place is everything the other positive reviews have said and more. The location is central in the bustling canal district action but on a quiet street. Easy walking distance to trams and to major shopping/dining areas as well as museums. The apartment itself is bright and inviting, spotlessly clean, updated, and thoughtfully appointed. The décor combines the best of modern, traditional, and creative Amsterdam making it a cheerful oasis in a busy city. It includes a fully equipped kitchen, laundry machines (with soap) and a Nespresso machine with pods. There are great supermarkets nearby, with directions given in the detailed apartment guide. Next to the large and comfortable bedroom is a study with a large cupboard for luggage and clothes. WiFi was fast and reliable. Frank is an exceptionally gracious host, excellent at communicating. Check-in and out were well organized and the security deposit was returned promptly. This lovely place thoroughly enhanced our trip to Amsterdam and we look forward to staying there again.

Wonderful apartment in great Amsterdam location

  • 5 of 5

1-Great apartment in general with nice and comfortable furnishings. We hope to come back to Amsterdam and if we do, we will definitely stay here again.

2-Location is perfect--we walked to almost everything and when we first arrived at Amsterdam Centraal it was an easy tram ride and short walk. There are numerous restaurants within walking distance--we especially liked Ron's Gastrobar which is located directly across the street.

3-Apartment is well stocked with dishes, pots, glassware, lots of towels--all you could ever need.

4-Everything was spotless.

5-The owner leaves a booklet with all the information necessary during our stay--when to put out the garbage, how all the appliances worked, where the grocery stores were located.

6-Layout of the apartment was good--bedroom in the rear , so it was quiet, a nice study with a desk and comfortable chair from which to use our computer, plenty of drawer and closet space, a little outdoor balcony with chairs and table, big windows with lots of light in the front with which to watch the neighborhood.

Cons: Only one, and it is minor:

1-The shower needs a place for soap and shampoo. There is no place to put these when showering. This could easily be remedied with an inexpensive hanging caddy.
