Minutes from Park City. Miles from ordinary.
Tollgate Canyon is a unique combination: dramatic vistas; wildlife graciously sharing space with residents; and a community of neighbors who pull together to preserve and enjoy this stunning corner of the Rockies. Nestled in the Wasatch mountains, it offers a rare opportunity to live in open spaces populated by moose, elk and deer, minutes from shopping, dining, culture—and, of course, world-class ski resorts.
This is an eco friendly two bed one bath home, with moose pond. It's squeaky clean and close to the world class resorts of Park City.
We have added Netflix streaming in addition to Dish Network.
Located just minutes from Park City and the Uinta Mountains, our cabin offers the amenities of a resort area, but with all the solitude and quiet to recharge your batteries. You'll need four wheel drive or at a minimum all wheel drive for safe driving in the winter months.
Tollgate Canyon is located on I-80, exit #150. We're only 5 minutes east of the Park City exit and 45 minutes from the Salt Lake City International airport.
Excellent property! This cabin is perfectly located for a serene get-a-way while still being close enough to town to be able to enjoy all the fun stuff that Park City offers. During the winter months when snow is active you WILL NEED 4 wheel drive. Also, there are 50 (yes, we counted) stairs from the driveway up to the front door. I've had 2 hip replacements and was able to manage the stairs - albeit slowly. Depending on the guests staying at the cabin just be prepared to assist those that may need extra help with stairs.
The cabin was well stocked with all of the amenities we needed for our 4 day stay. Plenty of towels, blankets, pillows, soap....you name it the property owner provided it. I saw someone earlier posted a review stating the pots & pans in the kitchen were old and falling apart. We had brand new pots and pans to use during our stay. It's clear the property owners care and want to ensure those renting have a pleasant stay. The owner actually showed up during our first night with a freshly baked homemade pie in hand. He was very cordial and made sure we were comfortable and did not have any problems!
The views are absolutely magnificent!! Whether it's a clear day and you can see the entire valley or you get to witness an amazing electrical storm roll by through the floor to ceiling windows (we did) you will be wowed. One thing to consider, there are no curtains in the cabin so 'sleeping in' isn't really an option.
This was a wonderful property and I will certainly be utilizing again the next time I have out of state visitors looking for a nice place to relax.
My husband and I absolutely loved the "tree house" cabin! The view from the cabin is amazing! Thank you for the heads up we definitely needed a 4 wheel drive vehicle in the snow getting up to the cabin. We hope to book another stay next year when we take a vacation to Park City. Thank you for a wonderful home away! :)
Property is clean and well maintained
We liked this house very much. It has terrific views, privacy and rustic appeal. It was clean and the owner was helpful. It comes at a great price for two couples or a small family. My son and I rented it for a few days in January many weeks ahead. Very intense storms moved just before our arrival and that made access challenging despite the fact that we have a very reliable all wheel drive car. The road is winding and in places steep. Indeed, we stopped to help a neighbor who was in a snowbank with his 4 wd. HOA does a good job of plowing and rescues people from snow banks, but still...access challenges remain.
Despite the charm there were a few small problems in addition to the road. Some can be corrected easily. ie. The kitchen cook ware must be redone. The frying pan is in such poor repair that the handle nearly separated from the pan and my son nearly poured hot bacon grease on his arm. Replacing the worn out cookware is an easy fix. The second problem is the stairs. Not so easy to fix. In a storm they are slippery. Hiring some one to shovel would help. But, for older people or those with limited fitness there are just too many. If you are reasonably young or have particularly good fitness the stairs are no problem. Don't bring a ton of luggage and leave the skis on the car. Third, the owner asks that renters take the trash to the dumpsters at the bottom of the hill. While we were there access to the dumpsters was difficult due to deep, slushy snow. And, the trash had not been picked up in a long, long time so the dumpsters were overflowing everywhere. Not so good. My son did not want to add to the heaps of trash bags that had been left outside the dumpsters. That was asking a bit much. Overall, a good house and if you know the issues ahead of time, you can weigh the pluses and minuses.
