About the property

The Glendale House

If you are interested in seclusion,

dark skies, endless scenic views with

the glorious Mount Jefferson as a

backdrop, birdsongs, deer and

turkey, you have found your vacation

cabin.

The Glendale House, situated on

33 acres at the end of a dirt road, is

ideal for folks wanting a break from

the urban pace. Just 82 miles from

downtown Winston-Salem, 1/4th

mile from the New River, 2 miles

from the Blue Ridge Parkway, the area

offers hiking, biking, golf,

tubing, canoeing, fishing, good

restaurants, a great arts district in

West Jefferson, and peace and quiet. Ben Long Fresco's are located in Glendale Springs, 3 miles from the cabin.

For the winter guest, weather permitting, tobogganing, sledding on the property, Appalachian Ski Mountain 32 miles via the Parkway.

The cozy 1,100 square foot

cabin is in a most beautiful place. The

cabin has maple floors and cabinets,

two bedrooms upstairs with hand crafted

beds, sunroom drawing in the

no dishwasher, a washer and dryer,

picnic table and gas grill on the deck,

fire place in the back yard, a birdfilled

front yard, high speed wireless

internet connection and the upstairs has air conditioning. The cabin is

fully furnished and very inviting.

This lovely cabin is overlooking the New River Valley. As the fog raises in the morning and your coffee is brewing, you will see seven bends in this historic river valley and hear the rapids below. Your view is of the undistribued Blue Ridge Mountains with very few homes in the viewshed across the river valley.

The cabin is fully furnished. It is decorated with originial art, handcrafted furniture, pottery and photography. The office has high speed internet, a fax/copier and desk. A stargazer haven.

Worth the wait

  • 5 of 5

It had been almost 2 1/2 years since our last visit and just as nice as previous visits, even with the newest member of our family. We spent most of the time at the cabin lounging around, leisurely walking around the property, staring contests with the neighbor's cows (youngest one did), and sitting on the front porch and back deck. The best part is not having a TV. Kids never missed it. The only complaint is that mountain time tends to speed by too. Other than that all is well with The Glendale House, as a couple and as a family. Great spot hidden away. Don't tell too many people, it might be harder to get next time. Thank you for sharing your paradise Pat!!

Quiet Comfort

  • 5 of 5

As we neared the cabin we ran into a very heavy rain storm with remnants of hurricane Nate passing through. We were greeted by a cozy, charming home that provided the perfect refuge. We spent the first evening lounging in the sunroom listening to the rain echo off the metal roof and the howling winds roar through the hillside. The bedrooms were charming and comfy and the kitchen was well stocked with cooking essentials. Spectacular view of the New River Valley and surrounding mountains, plenty of room to roam, even ventured down the trail to the river. Very Private but just a few minutes from grocery, dining, and plenty of leisure!

Amazing cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time at the Glendale cottage. The kids loved the property and rolling down the big hill and the fires in the evening were enchanting. The house was nicely appointed and had all of the comforts of home in the middle of no where! It was an easy drive to get to hiking and other outdoor activities but just as fun to stay in and play outside. Our old dog even joined in on the fun! We will definitely come back to this little slice of heaven in the future!

A very secluded cozy cabin with all the amenities of home.

  • 5 of 5

I enjoyed staying here because it was so quite and secluded. We enjoyed hiking at Mt. Jefferson State Park, playing horseshoes and sitting by the fire pit at night. There are also lots of nice restaurants and shops in West Jefferson.

A Rare Gem Totally Secluded But Only 15 Minutes From Town.

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place and we will definitely go back. It was the most peaceful and relaxing place we have ever stayed at. We tried to book this place for Memorial Day weekend and July 4th and missed out both times because it was already booked, so you have to act fast if you want to stay there. It is definitely worth the money. This is a gem of a place only 15 minutes from town but totally secluded.

Beautiful and Relaxing.

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful place to relax and enjoy creation. The house was very comfortable with everything we needed. Loved the deck views and inviting front porch. Colorful flowers attracted a variety of butterfly s and birds. Took several walks on the long driveway. Short trip to West Jefferson with many wonderful shops and restaurants. High recommend this private escape.
