Stunning views, peaceful surroundings.

  • 4 of 5

This charming house was the perfect location for a relaxing getaway weekend. Kitchen was well supplied, beds were comfortable, and the house had plenty of comfortable amenities that made it easy to relax. The owners were easy to reach and made sure we were checked in and comfortable the day of our arrival. Great options nearby for hiking and other outdoor activities, and good restaurants in the area. But you don't really need to leave the house if you don't want to. Sit on the back deck with a book and enjoy the views and solitude.

Cozy & Secluded

  • 5 of 5

The Glendale House is the ideal place for a getaway from the hectic nature of modern life. It is comfortable and removed from other homes in the area providing the perfect escape for those wishing to disconnect. It met all our expectations based on the HomeAway listing.

With a full kitchen and a gas grill on the back deck there's no need to go out to eat all the time, although plenty of dining options are close by.

The cabin is on a large piece of property with lots to explore and many options for long walks. It is also naturally and tastefully landscaped, and bursting with color at this time of year. The backyard fire pit is perfect for toasty fires on chilly evenings.

The town of West Jerfferson is only a few minutes away as well as the New River State Park and numerous other parks, rivers, and creeks that offer excellent hiking and fishing.

If you're looking for a place to relax in the West Jefferson area you can't go wrong with this cabin in Glendale Springs.

Great as always

  • 5 of 5

This year for Merlefest I met with 3 friends. Had a great time at Merlefest and coming back to the Glendale House to play music into the wee hours. As always the cottage was ready for our stay and added to the musical experience.

What a great stay! My wife and I had the pleasure of vacationing here over the Christmas holiday. When we walked in on Christmas Eve there was Christmas music playing on the radio and it was a wonderful way to arrive. The cabin has everything you need, so we never had to venture into town. It sits at the end of the road on the backside of a small mountain. What a view! The farm on the road into the property is very scenic as well.

The dogs absolutely loved the place. There were plenty of places for them to play. We enjoyed some long walks up the road as well. The hill at the top of the driveway is the perfect place to take the sunrise or the sunset, the views are stunning.

What surprised us most was how beautiful the town of Jefferson is. The entire area is picture perfect mountain living. We took a ride to Blowing Rock and hiked Julian Price Park one day. The ride there was extremely scenic and made the hour seem like 15 minutes. The hike itself was nothing short of spectacular.

The only negative I would give is the upstairs bedrooms are not well suited for a tall guy. I banged my head a couple of times. You think I would have learned after the first time, not the case. That said, we would stay here again in a heartbeat and we look forward to coming back some time in the not too distant future.

Relaxation in the mountains

  • 4 of 5

No t.v. which I love. Very quiet and beautiful scenery. The sunsets were gorgeous . Beautiful place to take pictures. ShatleySprings is only 20 minutes away and a wonderful place to eat a big breakfast. Blowing Rock is about an hour away and unique shops to visit. Boone is another town close by with great shops and eating places.
