Florida Cabin Rental Photos and Description

3 bedroom (1 with 2 beds), 1.5 bath nestled on 5 acres with springs access

We would like to invite you to recharge in our one of a kind 'Off the Grid' Cabin. This property is located at the end of Malloy's Landing Road in beautiful Wacissa, FL. Only 30 minutes away from FSU and FAMU Universities for the perfect weekend/ game day get away. Tallahassee is 30 minutes away for convenient shopping and banking. This 3 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath cabin sleeps 8 comfortable, to include a large upstairs loft and plenty of room for extra sleeping bags or blanket pallets on the floor for more family/friends. The cabin is nestled on one of the beautiful springs that feed the Wacissa river surrounded by towering 80' White Oaks, pines and hundred year old Cypress trees. From the front porch you can view wildlife such as deer, raccoons, woodpeckers, blue herons, hummingbirds, cormorants and wild turkey. The cabin is constructed of 100+ year old river wood pulled from the Wacissa and it's tributaries. Some of the planks used in the walls are better than 20' wide, the handrail on the stairs to the loft is made from a civil war era bridge blank, and much of the structure has actual river wood trees from the foundation through the floor to the ceiling. The property is 'Off the Grid' meaning there are no utilities coming in from the power company. We utilize solar panels and a backup diesel generator to maintain power to the cabin 24/7. Do not worry about the noise of the generator; we have it settled far enough from the cabin that it will not interfere with the quietness you may be looking for. Except for Wi-Fi (not provided), the cabin is equipped with central air, propane hot water and most of your every day luxuries that would be found in a home in town; but without the hustle and bustle. We have TV with approximately 12 clear channel (not cable).

So our invitation extends to anyone wanting to relax, celebrate a special occasion or attend a FSU or FAMU football game. You will be 1.5 miles from the closest house and 1 mile behind a locked gate so you can have the privacy to do whatever you wish. Come on out and experience true adventure in a one of a kind cabin.

** Events and parties over 8 will be an extra charge. Please contact owner for details.

About Bradley Cooley

This cabin was built by local residents, Bradley Cooley Jr. and his father, Bradley Cooley Sr. Cabin is maintained and operated by Bradley Jr., and his wife Jenny.

Bradley Cooley purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Bradley Cooley chose Florida

If you have an understanding and appreciation for the outdoors, you will not find a more unique piece of property in a more private or beautiful location. If you want to be closer to noise and chaos, this place is probably not for you.

What makes this cabin unique

We fell in love with this property for its natural beauty. What started to be just a "family fish camp" turned out to be a beautiful cabin we decided to build instead. The wood we built the cabin with comes from the very river it sits beside. This is without a doubt one of the most peaceful and relaxing places you've been in North Florida.

Clean Cabin with great amenities and beautiful location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at this beautiful cabin over the weekend - it was perfect to celebrate my husband's 30th birthday! The house was gorgeous, clean, and had everything we needed. The extra fridge was a lifesaver. The location was perfect, as well; it was so nice to be able to put in kayaks and canoes right from the house. The water was gorgeous and clear and we had just as much fun hanging out on the dock as we did paddling around exploring springs. The owners were incredibly responsive and helped us with everything we needed. Our stay here was incredible and we now have some great memories from a wonderful weekend with friends! Thank you!

Thanks for another wonderful get away. We love the peacefulness, and the ability to have nightly campfires. Spent a day canoeing this time which was amazing! Thanks again Hollie and Ryan.

Great family getaway!

  • 4 of 5

Definitely an off the grid experience. Our kids had a wonderful time utilizing the space outside, from riding their bikes on the gravel roads, running around in the massive yard and canoeing down the river and fishing. We used the fire pit at night too. We did not have any cell service, had to walk down the road to get any bars :) Our one suggestion is to have a paper on fridge that gives more detailed instructions such as heating and any other upkeep of the house. Also make sure you do bring your own drinking water. The Coopers responded fast to any concerns. We will definitely come back!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the suggestions on the paper on the frig. We try and put all that in the emails sent before check in but you are correct in that we need to post in a better place. :). I totally agree on the water too. Being well/pumped from river water, it is safe but not the best tasting for sure. Thank you again and hope you come back soon.

A perfect birthday weekend

  • 5 of 5

This weekend was a better than we could have hoped. The pictures of the cabin do not do it justice and the location is away from everything yet close enough to town to be convenient. Canoes available for rental on site were a welcome addition that we took advantage of. I think the best part was sitting by the fire pit late at night looking up at stars you could never see in the city. The Cooley's were wonderful hosts and we intend to come back again next year. This is the place to come for a relaxing vacation.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the wonderful review. We take a lot of pride in making our guests feel comfortable. The property is a very nice place to get out of the city and do a lot of star gazing that's for sure. Look forward to you coming back next year! The Cooley's.

FSU Thanksgiving Get-Together

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time on our visit with our son who attends FSU during Thanksgiving week at the 'Off the Grid' Cabin. The description of the cabin is very accurate and finding the cabin, even in the dark, was easy. The owners answered all questions promptly and gave us a courtesy call to see if we had made it alright. The cabin is not too far off the beaten path but is far enough to feel like your deep in the woods. The cabin was very clean and the pictures do not do it justice. After the first night we adjusted to the generator, it really wasn't too bad. We didn't canoe this trip, but if we stay here again I know we will. We did ride our bikes in the area and swam in the river. I would suggest to bring some drinking water if you are not use to water with a sulfur odor. We did go to the recommended local market/convenience store and got some ribeyes, they were great. The grill needed a little cleaning. Overall, the cabin was clean, well furnished and we really enjoyed our stay and hope to stay there again on our next trip.

2015 FSU Parent's Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in the cabin for the FSU Parent's Weekend. Upon arrival we went straight for the nature, and went canoeing. We are the typical city slickers so yes that was pretty hysterical (especially when our max speed was 0.) When we got passed by an airboat we decided it was time to turn around. We had a barbeque that evening with the best ribeye steaks I've ever tasted. The owner's wife Jenny told us about a little market up the road from the cabin, and she was right they were mouthwatering.

The owners Mr & Mr's Cooley are were very accommodating. When I had questions about my upcoming stay they responded immediately. I'm sure if we encountered any issue that they would be right there to fix it. However, we didn't encounter any issues. We have no complaints!!! We had a blast!!

I highly recommend this property. I know our family will be staying there again over the next 4 years.
