This 2 bedroom apartment is situated on the sixth floor of a nine storey apartment block on the sea promenade offering a panoramic view over Wenduine's large sandy beach and the North Sea. Wenduine is a well established family resort situated between the 'belle-epoque' town of De Haan and the busiest seaside resort of Belgium, Blankenberge. The apartment is clean and bright and ideal for up to 4/5 people with a queen size bed in the main bedroom, a large bunk bed in the second bedroom and a large sofa bed in the lounge. The lounge has a TV, internet and 5 comfortable dining chairs and a table. There is also a newly fitted kitchen and bathroom with a modern shower unit. An ideal place to stay for everyone who wants to enjoy a self contained beach holiday with easy access to the culturally rich attractions of Bruges and the Belgium coast. Born in London a good few years ago, worked in Brussels for 7 years but lived and commuted from the lovely Flemish city of Antwerp. Currently living in London, but also spending a lot of time in Belgium (yes, Flemish girlfriend!) or working in Germany. A true European eh?!

A few years back (2000-2001 I think) when I lived in Antwerp, I was invited to meet a friend in Wenduine on one lovely summer Saturday afternoon. I parked my car on the Blankenbergse Steenweg and walked onto the promenade in Wenduine. I was shocked by what I saw. Everyone enjoying themselves either in the promenade cafes or on the nice clean sandy beach. I absolutely loved it. Children riding their go carts along the promenade whilst adults looked on, enjoying a nice Belgium beer or delicious food in the afternoon sunshine. I was hooked, I wanted to be here more often so I bought a place directly on the promenade so that now and my guests can do the same. Believe me, it's a nice place!

A high speed internet (cable) connection is available in the apartment together with Telenet digital TV and a large number of European TV channels (eg. BBC1, BBC2, Sky news, etc). Good quality duvet & pillows exist on the beds but please bring duvet & pillow covers, bed sheets, towels & tea towels. Everything else you should need including plates, cutlery, glasses is provided in the apartment. An underground garage parking place is available to rent with the apartment. Free parking is available nearby. During the summer months free parking in the blue zones is only permitted with a blue parking disc. During the summer months cars are allowed to park on the sea promenade before 10am to drop off and pick up luggage, etc. In the winter months parking is permitted at all times outside the apartment.

Schöne Wohnung mit kleinen Nachteilen

Eine schöne, freundliche Wohnung in wunderbarer Lage mit einem fantastischen Blick. Sehr schön die beiden (kleinen) Balkone (Meerseite und nach hinten). Sehr erfreulich auch der direkte Kontakt mit dem Vermieter, der stets schnell, freundliche undsehr offen geantwort hat.

Gewünscht hätten wir uns: mehr Informationen zum Organisatorischen (WiFi-Passwort, Müll-Entsorgung ...) und vor allem über die Tatsache, dass manches an der Wohnung absolut winzig ist (Toilette, Küche, Dusche).

Auch die Ausstattung der Küche ist minimalistisch.

Sehr gestört hat uns ein schriller Pfeifton von der (nicht ganz dichten) Balkontür, der bei Wind auftrat (und wir hatten immer starken Wind) und den Aufenthalt im Wohnzimmer stark beeinträchtig hat.

Wir waren zu viert (2 Erw., 2 Kinder) Ende Mai/Anfang Juni in Wenduine.

Owner's Response: Vielen Dank für die Bewertung, die ich zur Kenntnis genommen. Vielleicht könnte das Informationsblatt verbessert werden, sondern es enthält die Informationen über die Wi-Fi / Passwort, etc. und in der Regel die Müll Anweisungen werden von der Agentur mit dem Abfallsack vorgesehen ist (wie sie hin und wieder ändern), aber ich werde auf jeden Fall sie auch hinzufügen die Informationen, die ich zur Verfügung stellen, um die Gäste. Ich verwies auch auf die "schriller Pfeifton", die manchmal vor, mit starken Winden und werden die vorderen und hinteren Terrasse Fenster im Winter 2015/2016 zu ersetzen (wie die Schlafzimmer Tür). Bis sie ersetzt werden Ich habe eine Türschlange (Stoffrollen?) gelegt, die unten setzen könnte, um die 'pfeifton' zu stoppen. Glücklicherweise sind die starken Winde nicht so häufig in den Sommer! Trotzdem danke für die Booking und das Feedback.

Brilliant place to stay!!!!!

Our family of 4 went to this apartment in Belgium in July 2014 and we can't fault it, the apartment itself was clean and well looked after with everything you need for a holiday, the WOW factor is the view from the balcony and the fact that the beach is literally on you door step, there is a large selection of carts, quads and bicycles on the promenade to keep everyone happy, there is very good supermarket about a 2 min walk from the apartment and lots of nice little restaurants on the promenade too. We drove to Hull and did the Hull-Zebugge crossing which is good in itself, you drive on at night have your evening meal a bit of entertainment, sleep in your cabin and when you wake in the morning you have time to have your breakfast and your there! When you drive off the boat the apartment is about a 10-15 min drive and is easy to get to. My advise is try it you'll love it!!

Family Stay 2012

Stayed in this quite cool spot in July 2012. Family group of four. Spotlessly clean on arrival. Being so high up means it is still quiet even if the bars below are busy. Bedrooms are to the back in anycase, so very quiet

Brian was easy to deal with, answering questions promptly. Local agent was fine: we had one minor problem with a key and they sorted it quickly and efficently.

Living room is the main attraction. Bring binoculars (or a spotting scope on a tripod: much better) and sit and watch the ships go by. Identify them by name and type on

Town is fine, bakery and small supermarket close by and no shortage of bars and restaurants, but they are holiday-resort prices. But cook something simple in the small galley kitchen and sit and watch the sunset.

Beach is wonderful, wild and windy most of the time we were there sadly, buy clean and impossible to make crowded.

Carpark is great, just a few meters from the side entrance of the garage to the front door. Ideal, no parking worries.

Dislikes, which is why I only gave it 4 out of 5 are the tiny lift, which can only take two people (or three very friendly people), and the equally tiny loo, which a very obese person simply could not use.

But overall, great spot, nice town, good local agent, Brian easy to deal with and that stunning view out to sea. Great holiday.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for the good and honest review. I agree with your comments about the small lift and toilet but hopefully my guests won't have to spend to much time in either! I am currently looking at a solution for the toilet that will raise the cistern to create some space, but I think for the time being any normal sized renters shouldn't have a problem. Thanks for the comments and shoosh...let's keep that stunning view a secret!

A good time in Wenduine

We were family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children), and stayed for a week at the beginning of April 12. We booked it for: the sea view (as we ban watching TV on holiday), it was in a nice quiet area that was not too built up, and was within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the beach. The apartment met all of these requirements so we were happy. The weather was good, so sat on the balcony a fair bit taking in the view, and had a great time.

The not so good thing about the apartment was that it was small for the following, which we knew from the floor area but you don’t really appreciate it until you are using it:

1) the toilet was tight just to sit on and we are short people,

2) the kitchen is a 1 person area, as you can literally stand on the spot on turn for the fridge to the cooker to the sink.

Notwithstanding that, all the facilities were there.

The lounge was a good size with a fab view, and Wenduine was lovely. All the Belgians we met were very friendly and helpful, so all in all it was a good break.

A lovely stay in Wenduine

We visited Wenduine at the end of March and was delighted with this apartment. We were 4 adults, including my 89 year old Mother in Law. We had great weather, beautiful sunny days, but cold in the evening. The views of the beach and the sea from the apartment are lovely and you get beautiful sunsets. All this just outside the door.

The apartment is on the 6th floor with a very small lift, which didn't affect our access to and from the flat.

The apartment is clean and tidy, not cluttered but everything has been thought of, even puzzles and books for rainy days. Kitchen is small and caters for 4 people sufficiently well. Small WC; my 89 year old mother in law managed to use it, but not suitable for anyone who has a walking disability. For anyone from Britain using the flat, please note the sizes of the pillowcases needed are not like ours, they are square and more like our large cushion sizes, so bear this in mind, but this is all detailed on the inventory given. The owner provided great customer service and was able to help with any queries personally by email, the agency was also a short walk away.

The apartment comes with a garage which we didn't use as we visited out of season and were able to park outside the swimming baths every day (less than a minute away), but this would be a welcome addition especially during the summer when the town is busier than usual.

This quiet town is so ideally situated, it is unspoilt, has a beautiful sandy beach which stretches for miles (you can walk along it to other towns along the way, and when you get tired, get the tram back), there are cafes/restaurants, shops, all within walking distance. Blankenberg and Ostend are close and are on the convenient tramline. Brugge is just a 30 minute bus ride away.

We had a lovely stay here, and will definitely visit again and use this apartment again. So very much recommended.

We took the ferry from Dover to Dunkerque and the drive to Wenduine was just over an hour on the motorway.

It's certainly worth mentioning that the lift, toilet and bathroom are smaller than most but hopefully you won't be spending too much time in any of them. I will also see about purchasing some spare (oblong size) UK pillows next time I am in the UK so that guests don't have the pillow case problem. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Wenduine is a well established family resort situated between the grandious town of De Haan and the more lively Blankenberge. It is centrally located on the Belgium coast only 80 mins driving time from Calais and the channel tunnel and also only 20 mins driving time from Ostend.

The fast 'coast tram' that stops outside the door provides easy access to the whole of the Belgium coast from De Panne in the south to Knokke in the North and the famous picturesque city of Bruges can be reached in 30 mins by a direct bus. The railway station in nearby Blankenberge provides fast access to Brussels, Ghent and the other major cities in Belgium.
