This House is the perfect “base camp” for experiencing Malibu; it's walking distance to the finest beaches in Malibu: superb beach combing, sunning, tide pool hunting, surfing, boogie boarding, body surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing or surf fishing. Easy access to Malibu’s best wineries, hiking and biking trails, golf, or Malibu’s chic clothing boutiques, restaurants and art galleries.
Camarillo (shopping outlets), Ventura (sport fishing and charters to the Channel Islands), Ojai and Santa Barbara can all be reached within a 30-60 minute drive. Santa Monica, Venice and Los Angeles are 30 to 45 minutes south.
This house is ideal for relaxing, entertaining and soaking up the natural beauty of Malibu. Ideal for a family get away or for a group of friends. Whether you want to experience the serenity of nature or an adventure, you can find it here.
What a beautiful home and an incredible value. Perfect for a family and friends who want to experience the natural beauty of Malibu. The beach at Leo Carrillo is literally a 30 second drive away... as is the beach at Nicholas or all of the wonderful "pocket beaches" just to the South. We liked the shopping center and market at Trancas ( just 5 min away). Our kids loved boggie boarding at North Beach. Loved our stay ( especially late afternoon cocktails on the patio watching the wind surfers)!
My wife and I rented this contemporary home in W. Malibu with my two cousins, their 2 children, and my sister and her husband. We had a family wedding in Thousand Oaks which was just 14 miles on the scenic and curvy Hwy 23. The home was very ideal for us as it provided ocean view rooms for the adults with a mountain view room for the kids. The rotunda room was also perfect if we wanted to stay up late and be loud while not disturbing sleeping kids as the room seals off with doors from the rest of the house.
Each room has its own exterior entrance and the outdoor space is plentiful, separate, private and well planned. Upon walking in, we couldn't believe how incredible the home was. There is a youtube tour we watched numerous times but it is better in person.
The property is located right across the PCH from the Leo Carilla State Beach. We walked to it but wouldn't recommend it as a walkable beach to most who aren't active as the hills are steep, you are walking on a highway and it's a good distance 20-30 minutes. But really driving to the beaches and exploring them is the best bet anyway if you want to bring beach chairs, boogie boards, cooler, etc. This property is located outside the main hustle and bustle of the malibu area but you are a 10 minute car ride from all the action and a 15 minute ride from the best beaches.
The driveway is shared with the owner's father in law who designed the home so you aren't completely secluded but at no point did we ever feel that this reduced our privacy. It does create a need to make sure you park appropriately but with a garage spot and a parking pad for 2 cars, this should NOT be an issue.
The design, modern appliances, flooring, outdoor shower, natural light, scenery, excellent layout, numerous patios all make this an unbelievable place I will return to.
I should also point out that the rooms are all generously sized so no one is getting the 'short end' of the stick during room selection. The master suite is separate from the other 3 bedrooms and does have a HUGE walk in closet with 2 exterior exits. However, its not so large that others are too jealous.
The owner is super nice and accommodating too. I mentioned that we wanted to grill and he was sure to provide a bag of charcoal and had the grilling tools all set up. They have beach towels and bath towels, provide a styrofoam cooler for use, and everything you could need in the kitchen is there.
I couldn't be more pleased!
We rented this house for a family reunion and couldn't have been more pleased. The house was sunny, comfortable, classy, elegant, and very spacious with its many indoor and outdoor areas for conversation and quiet reading. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds and furnishings very comfortable, and the bathrooms and closets were roomy as well. Best of all were the splendid views of the Pacific.
Came here to attend a family wedding on Zuma Beach, and decided to make it a week-long Malibu vacation. What a find this house was! Everything about it is magical -- the location, views, heavenly breezes, architecture, landscaping, furnishings, and amenities. It is airy and spacious. The kitchen is well-equipped. The beds and linens are comfy. It is perfect for entertaining. We have had an amazing and relaxing week at this beautiful retreat.
Beautiful & Relaxing home - accurately described and pictured in the listing. The home is clean and well maintained with beautiful & comfortable furnishings. Our group of 8 had plenty of room and with 2 different age groups ( 20 somethings and their parents) the 2 living areas let us gather together or separate, if we wanted. The house has excellent views from every room with complete privacy! John was very easy to work with and helpful with information. Highly recommend this property - we'd love to make it an annual trip!
My wife and daughter stayed for the Easter holiday to visit my mother and brothers who live in SoCal. We had them come up and stay with us, and there was plenty of room. We live on the east coast, so the 65 degree temperatures were a welcome change, despite the locals' complaints about it being cold weather!
The house was impeccably furnished and laid out with an open modern design, perfect for entertaining and indoor/outdoor living. The kitchen was fully stocked for a gourmet chef. No need for air conditioning when you can just open the sliding doors to let in the ocean breeze! The view was amazing, and we saw whales almost every morning!
We were a minute away from Leo Carillo beach - definitely check the tide charts and go at low tide to see all the tide pools! Other beaches are within close proximity, so definitely try them all (el Matador was our favorite).
I highly recommend staying here, you will be happy you did!
Walk to Leo Carrillo State Beach, which is known for its remote beauty and varied water sports activities, which include: windsurfing, kitesurfing, kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling and more.
