About Judy

We've spent our summers here every year since we bought it. My three boys have spent countless hours on the lake and enjoying some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We've rented the place occasionally through the years to several returning visitors. With the kids grown and busy with life we've decided to rent more and expand our guest list. We love the place and have made steady improvements over the years to make it a warm and inviting home for our friends, family, and visitors. We hope you take the opportunity to enjoy our home as we have for many years.

Judy purchased this house in 1994

Why Judy chose Sleeping Bear Dunes

The lake offers great water sports and swimming. With many large windows the house feels connected to the lake and you're never far from a beautiful view. The area was voted by Good Morning America as the most beautiful place in the country and with the many secret beaches and hikes you can access all the areas beauty.

What makes this house unique

The house and property are organized for maximizing exposure to the lake. The house sits on a hill that slopes down to the water. With this placement you get fantastic views. There is a beautiful staircase with fieldstone borders running down to the lake. Solar lights straddle the staircase and provide light for night time commuting between the house and lake.

The property is spotted with different seating areas that offer unique vantages of the lake. The dining room provides great views while family and friends enjoy time together eating and talking. The patio off of the lakeside of the house offers adirondack chairs for enjoying morning coffee or a relaxing break from the day. The boathouse has chairs, a table, and a fire pit while offering great views of the water and sunsets. The dock has a platform on the water with 4 dock pieces placed sideways to offer a large area for sunbathing and sitting.

Breezes from the lake and great tree coverage keep the house cool and fresh smelling. Take advantage of the large windows.

Good proerty but did not feel welcome by the owner.

  • 3 of 5

The location, house and lakefront was nice. We enjoyed our stay at the lake with family. The parking is not good. The owner met my nephews and sister at the home when they checked in and was not welcoming. She made a comment to my nephews that they looked like trouble and did not like that they were driving pick-up trucks. One of my nephews was with his wife and two daughters that are 3 and 2. We had a family vacation and took care of the property and respected neighbors while we were staying at the home. We felt judged and not welcome before we even started our vacation. We enjoyed our stay but did not feel welcome and will not rent the home again.

SO many lovely memories!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 11; 6 adults and 5 children, just returned from our second stay in this beautiful home and are working to plan our third stay next summer. I'm not sure where to even begin... This home is more than spacious for a group our size. The dining room flaunts a giant table for all to gather and admire the beautiful water views. The kitchen, while small, is more than equipped to fix your favorite meals. Many spices and condiments are already stocked as well, which is super convenient. The beds will be made with fresh linens and comfy blankets upon your arrival, which isn't all that typical for a lake rental. The bedrooms are spacious with big windows allowing a nice breeze to blow in the evenings. The children's bedroom is perfect with one double bed and two single beds, one which is also outfitted with a trundle bed. There are a great deal of children's books as well, which our kiddos enjoyed. If adults in your group are avid readers, they will enjoy the well stocked bookshelves also. You will appreciate the nice washer and dryer, as well as the laundry chutes which make this chore a little easier. There are several sitting areas when you desire your own space, several of which have beautiful water views. All of this is simply inside the home... As you walk down to the water, it will take your breath away. The beautiful stone steps will lead you to the long dock in which nice Adirondack chairs await your arrival. The setting is perfect for children for multiple reasons, but one being that the water is only about waist deep at the end of the dock. The dock is spacious enough to have an end of the week pizza party with your whole crew, take it from experience - it's great! :) Along with so many other amenities, there are two kayaks, one canoe, and one row boat available for your use. These are perfect for the Platte River float trip that you must do while visiting the area! Float toys, some sand toys, and life jackets are provided. The garage has bikes.

All in all, this home is wonderfully maintained by the owner and property managers. Both of which are more than happy to share information with you about both the home, and the beautiful setting in which surrounds the home. If you are looking for a rental for a large group, or even a small one for that matter, this house is it. You will find yourself calling it "your house on the lake" within minutes, as that's how long it takes for you to feel at home.

Thank you for the memories!

Wonderful Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here recently and enjoyed our lake home immensely. It was everything that was advertised and more. How do you aptly describe opening the front door and seeing nothing but beautiful rooms looking out at the glistening water of Platte Lake? We enjoyed evening campfires on top of the boat house, the spacious bedrooms, the well-appointed kitchen, comfy beds and linens, and large living room. The laundry chute was also nice; too bad more homes don't have one. We enjoyed the use of the kyaks, canoe and row boat. Sleeping Bear Dunes is very close. You will love the little town of Empire and the public beach right on Lake Michigan (a short 15 minute drive). The owner was very helpful in accommodating our group and with information about the area. This was a great vacation and a wonderful home ! Well worth the money.
