Location, location, location
This was a great property on an alley right off of Calle San Francisco within 2 blocks are many great restaurants bars and shops. We walked 10 min to a great beach with seldom more than a dozen people there. There is a bedroom for those who prefer it very dark when they sleep and a loft bedroom for those who like to wake up to the morning sun.
Hi John and spouse, you too were great Guests. You’re welcomed back whenever you please.
PR in PR
Perfectly Right in Puerto Rico! My husband and I stayed in this home for the week we were in PR. The location is perfect...you can walk to great bars and restaurants as this place is right in the heart of Old San Juan. When we wanted to leave the area, it was very easy to get an Uber from nearby Plaza Colon. The outdoor patio on the third floor was great for morning coffee and late night relaxing, a little too hot for the afternoon since the sun was bright and hot at that time of day. We particularly loved the king-sized bed. I’d suggest this place for a couple since the separate loft area that anyone else would be sleeping in would be very bright with all the windows/ceiling being uncovered with blinds. Wanda was such a treat to deal with. I feel like I have a new BFF in PR.
Gracious, Comfortable, and Convenient Sanctuary in the Heart of Old San Juan
We stayed for 6 wonderful nights in this lovely and comfortable 3-story townhouse on a quiet, cobbled, “pedestrian street” in the heart of Old San Juan, just a few blocks from the El Morro and San Cristobal fortresses and dozens of galleries, museums, churches, shops, and restaurants.
The 1st floor had a small, open living room (with sofa, easy chair, and TV) plus a kitchen (and dining bar) containing everything we needed for our breakfasts (we ate other meals at nearby restaurants) and with cooking supplies for serious feasting. The back hallway included a small powder room and metal stairway to the 2nd floor. The landing to the 2nd-floor master bedroom (and bathroom with large shower and small laundry area) and the stairs to the 3rd level were made of a strong metal grating, as was the interior floor of the 3rd level—allowing light (and sound) to travel to all 3 floors. Fortunately, the thick walls and door to the master bedroom (and absence of any windows on this level) kept noise there to a minimum. However, when a 2nd couple joined us mid-week, they had less privacy in the 3rd-floor loft due to the open grating floor, floor-to-ceiling windows, and skylights (no curtains). Guests staying on that level must rely on their bathroom (with small shower) for privacy.
Probably the highlight of this home is the attractive covered, outdoor room accessed through the loft, with a comfortable sectional sofa, chairs, and even a bar. Though the view was mostly of the building on the other side of the cobbled street, this outdoor room was a great place to relax—creating a transition between the busy tourist mecca outside and the quiet sanctuary of the home’s interior. Plus, it provided excellent cloud-viewing.
The home’s décor was bright, attractive, and welcoming. The king bed's mattress was extraordinarily comfortable--one of the best I've ever slept on (not too firm, not too soft, no lumps or jiggling). The double, foldaway bed on the 3rd floor was too firm for me but those sleeping on it said it was fine. All linens provided were spotless and comfortable. The washer and dryer were easy to use (bring your own detergent and dryer sheets). Water pressure/temperature fluctuated in the showers, but always stayed comfortable.
Wanda, the owner, went out of her way to ensure our safety and comfort throughout our stay. Communicating with her was not only easy, but I felt like I made a new friend as a result of our exchanges. I'd come back in a heartbeat!
Awwwwww how sweet those words my sweet friend . We will take into consideration all of your details about the open loft for sure. You’re welcomed back whenever you wish. Take good care of yourself. Maby Blessings!!!
Nice stay in Old San Juan
Great location; owner very helpful.
"Second bedroom" should be more accurately described as a loft.
Hi Don, the third level is clearly described as an open loft. Maybe you did not see it in the description of the house. That’s one of the most important thing for us that our Guests receive what we say we offer. Thank you so much for staying with us. We’ll love to have you back.
Such a GREAT stay and house!!!
