Overview

Sayulita House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 3+ Baths

This private residence is for rent to guests who want to enjoy the peaceful tranquility of Sayulita. Enjoyed by those with a taste for the finer style of beachtown enjoyment. Spacious rooms, terrific views and easy walk to beach & town make it one of the most popular rentals.

The house sits above the coconut palm grove with expansive views of the beach and quaint village below. You can check the surf, watch the whales, and even root for the locals on the baseball field all from the comfort of the huge palapa covered rooftop terrace. No need to rent a car as both the nicest beaches and central Sayulita are within short minutes walk from your doorstep.

Our home has two air conditioned master bedrooms with private baths; one opens to the very private swimming pool , the other has a private terrace with full view of the ocean, the town and Punta Sayulita. This main floor has a fully stocked gourmet kitchen with 10 foot high ceilings and is adjacent to the pool area, which has an outdoor shower. The adjoining dining room and living areas are furnished in Mexican coastal flavor with lots of leather and wood, including Mexican antiques.

Casa de la Colina will accommodate up to 7 house guests. We can add other small beds for children. Families are welcome.

The true jewel of Casa de la Colina is the palapa covered terrazzo on the top floor with a bar-b-que, service kitchen, bar w/fridge and dining table for up to 10 people. This is where most time is spent swinging in a hammock when not swimming in our pool or at the beach. Watch the birds and wildlife from this panoramic tree top vantage point. There is plenty of room here for everyone. Another one of the three bathrooms is located on this top floor and the beautiful semi-outdoor bedroom has cabana curtains, for privacy, a king bed and a single bed. View the beach and romantic sunsets and count the stars from the beautiful rooftop patio.

Casa de la Colina is suited to accommodate many size groups. Multiple couples with children can have beds moved to their best advantage as the large bedrooms and open floor plan is very flexible, and we have a few extra single beds, available on request for groups larger than 7.

Ten days in paradise with amazing hosts!

  • 5 of 5

A group of six of us spent ten days at Casa de la Colina in December, 2014. Firstly, we love Sayulita. It was at least a second trip there for most of our party and we will all go back again. It is a beautiful, magic, little town with a great atmosphere and fantastic food and bars.

Casa de la Colina is an absolutely gorgeous house. We rented the main floor and had the rooftop palapa included. It was more than enough space for six people and all the bedrooms, including the rooftop palapa bed, were comfortable and lovely rooms. The rooftop itself is a phenomenal space, on which we spent most of our time. The pool is great for a soak also.

Doug and Ruby were incredible hosts. They were there for everything we needed in the house and are very knowledgeable on restaurants, bars, nightlife, culture and activities in the area.

Whether you are traveling with friends or family, this is an amazing house.

would have been nice, but ...

  • 1 of 5

also read the review from "Warren" from Canada. owners "are not pleasant people to deal with", etc.

we had an experience (approx $1600 in cash missing from the place while we were out) -- and though the owners acted concerned and even recommended we contact the local police -- then they were OUT-RAGED that I brought said Police to investigate "the scene of the crime"! Now, wouldn't THAT be expected in, say, the U.S. or Canada? It seemed that they valued THEIR piece of mind and oh-so-tranquil vibe over the inconvenience of their guests. Verrry UN-COOL. Maybe $1600 isn't a big deal to them, but it sure clipped the wings (almost tore them off!) of our vacation.

not recommended for young children. the balcony on the roof-top terrace is very easy for kids to fall off from. we moved some plants and a couch to try to deter any such possibility.

plus, another family member who actually made the rental arrangements, was very inconvenienced by the cumbersome payment/transaction method the owners insisted on.

Owner's Response: We certainly were and are very concerned that these guests money went missing while they were renting our house. We strive to make all guests vacation as great as we can. Unfortunately one of the guests did not lock the door to the outside when they all left the house to go to town. It is very important for guests to follow instructions on locking the house, close & lock windows and doors when they leave the house to go out to the beach or to town. We did request that they report the theft incident to the police. We did not expect that they would return with the police and go thru our house when we were not there and had not been notified that they were coming. After they checked out they came back in when the housekeepers were cleaning. they could have phoned us as they had 2 phone #s for us in Sayulita. Their payment method was to pay a deposit to hold the reservation, bring the balance with them in cash & pay refundable deposit on arrival. Not unusual. We have had many families with children of all ages, have great vacations at our house. The pictures show that it is a 3 story house with stairways, a pool and balconies. maybe not suitable for some but there are many homes to choose from in Sayulita. We try to address any questions & concerns renters may have. I think this family had a good time at the house & the kids had fun in the pool & and we did enjoy having them as renters. It is very unfortunate that the unlocked door caused a very unhappy incident for them and for us. And yes, lots of things in Mexico are different than in Canada or in the U.S.A.

Perfect spot to enjoy Sayulita

  • 5 of 5

Doug and Ruby's place is a fabulous home base from which to enjoy all Sayulita has to offer. Both bedrooms are spacious and well-appointed, and the rooftop is spectacular, including the bedroom. We were in town for a wedding, with friends staying at villas in different spots all over town - our place became the central hangout because you can't beat the rooftop at Casa de la Colina. It's an easy walk into town, to the beach, and to whatever else you may need. Highly recommend.

Excellent place!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a week long stay at this house in Sayulita. The house is absolutely beautiful- the highlights included the AMAZING palapa (where we hung most of the time, and where my sister slept- the outdoor bedroom is absolutely fantastic), comfortable bedrooms, a easy to use kitchen, and the pool + outdoor shower.

The location was perfect too- close enough to the beach and town for easy access, but far enough away that we were able to really relax in a quiet environment.

Doug and Ruby were extremely accommodating, helpful, and easy to connect with during our stay.

We'll definitely be returning to this casa in the future!

Great stay at Casa de la Colina!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in this house 3 times and keep coming back! We love the super comfy beds, the well equipped kitchen and the great location in a quiet residential area just minutes from town or the beach. The house is clean, the pool is a lovely but the open air palapa is by far the best spot in the house. The breeze, the view, a nap in the hammock, dinner by candlelight overlooking the bay, simply the best!

We can't wait to return. Doug and Ruby are great and will set you up with all the best things to do on your vacation!

Our visit was "familiar" with the intimacy of staying in a place as if you lived there!

  • 5 of 5

Hola!

An outstanding Mexican experience...

My daughter and I visited for one week. Our stay exceeded our expectations in every possible way and if I had to characterize it I would say that at no time we ever felt like we were outsiders visiting a foreign land or worse yet merely tourists. Our hosts showed us ever possible curtesy and consideration. They shared generously their favorite restaurants and included us on several expeditions in and about the outlying area. At one point helping us book a fishing trip and whale watch. At each moment of our stay we always felt as if we had the advantage of being insiders.

As for the accommodations the pictures speak for themselves and these too exceeded all expectations. Our rooms were well appointed and cleaned each day with fresh linens as you would expect to find at the best hotel. I would return again to Sayulita and most surely will be staying once again at Casa de la Colina, where you can bet we will be booking our entire stay.

Thanks again for a great time.

James and Eleanor
