We are from Gwinnett county Georgia and wanted a second home not too far from our primary home so we could use it often. Our kids love water sports and bringing friends to the lake. Family time is precious and being together at the lake makes it easier for us to spend some quality time as a family.
Joni Tuttle purchased this house in 2006
We owned a house on Lake Lanier a little further north before building this one. We desired a lot that wasn't as steep of a walk down to the lake, and this one fit the bill. The setting among the trees and the privacy we have at the house is perfect. No matter what the water levels are on the lake, we are able to move the dock out further so that we always have water and can get our boats in and out.
The house itself is great for couples as well as families since four of the five bedrooms have their own bathroom. It has been a wonderful house for family vacations as well as entertaining.
There are many things we love about the house. The outdoor kitchen with the fire ring is one of our favorites. No matter what time of year, we use the outdoor grill and fire ring as a place to gather. The covered decks off the back of the house are good for meals and to sit and relax with a cup of coffee. The ceiling fans keep it a comfortable temperature in the warm months.
The cove where our dock is located makes a great spot to sit and watch people fish, tube or ski. It is a protected spot, yet very open without being in an area where the dock/boat gets knocked around. The location on the lake is convenient; we love to take the boat over to Pelican Pete's to eat and listen to music. There is always something to do and Gainesville is 10 minutes away if we want to go shopping or go to dinner.
Three generations of our family had a special sports event to attend in Gainesville, and our lucky day was finding this wonderful house on Lake Lanier for our stay! It was cozy, but spacious and well laid out so that everyone had private space. Everything we needed was provided for preparing fun family meals in the modern kitchen. There was a wonderful outdoor kitchen and fire pit, but because of the dangerously dry conditions in the Southeast and fires in the mountains, we didn't use them. Next time! The rains came just as we were leaving so that issue will be solved! The owner was great to work with and helped make our stay perfect. This is an especially fun place to stay with children.
Very Nice House! We had 16. Worked out great. Really nice Gas Fire Place in Main Floor Great Room. Extra Frig. downstairs was very handy.
This lake home was great for our family- very spacious and everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom.
Very pretty and decorated nicely. We had a lot of fun swimming and boating- the cove was nice for paddle boarding, kayaking and waterskiing. It was a wonderful family time for us!
Our family of 10 had a wonderful week at this beautiful lake home. We fished, swam, paddle boarded and did some tube skiing. Lots to do in the area. The house was perfect.
We loved this home! We were here for my youngest son's wedding. My husband, myself and two sons with their young families stayed with us. This home was very child friendly. Being right after Christmas there was a lovely Christmas tree up to enjoy adding to the wonderful ambiance.
As we entered the main floor we noticed the lovely high-end wood floors and the upgraded kitchen, very well stocked! The kitchen overlooked a large living area and dining room and the big master bedroom was off the dining area. This bedroom had a huge shower with two faucets. Also there was a big walk-in closet. On this main floor was the laundry room and an office with sitting chairs.
The two families were on the second floor where three bedrooms are located...two masters each with their own bathroom and a room at the top of the stairs with 3 beds perfect for our 3 young kids (7,5,2 in age).
Then there was the basement...another full living room with a shuffleboard table and a well-stocked closet with board games. Here was also a full size dining room table and kitchenette (fridge, sink and cabinets). Plus another king-size bedroom and a full bath! Wow!
Outside were many amenities we were not able to use considering the winter season...but we did use the fire pit...a highlight of our stay! We also used the outdoor grill which was part of a full size outdoor covered kitchen. Parking for cars was plentiful!
We walked down the lighted path behind the house to the double decker pier where there was a paddle boat for use in nicer weather. This would be ideal for a summer stay.
As far as the owners go...they were very responsive and friendly when questions were asked or assistance was needed. I can't thank them enough for making our stay a wonderful one!
Nestled in the foothills of the Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains and nurtured by the Chattahoochee and Chestatee Rivers, Lake Sidney Lanier is named for the post Sidney Clopton Lanier, whose admiration of the area's scenic beauty inspired him to compose his famous 'Song of the Chattahoochee'.
Lake Lanier is one of America's favorite lakes. With several million visitors annually enjoying its recreational facilities, it has been the most visited Corp of Engineers project in the nation.
One reason for for the lake's popularity is its proximity to metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia. A well-developed road network surrounds Lake Lanier, with several highways crossing the main body. Visitors can enjoy the city of Atlanta and, in the space of a short drive, can lose themselves in the tranquility at Lake Lanier.
Lake Lanier, impounded by Buford Dam, encompasses 38,000 surface acres of water with 540 miles of shorelines. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has developed and operates numerous public parks around the lake for camping and day-use activities.
Lake Lanier Islands, a development by the State of Georgia and the Corps of Engineers, is the major resort area on the lake. The Islands complex provides picnicking, camping, beach areas, a water theme park, tennis courts, golf courses, rental boats, and hotel accommodations. Numerous other recreation areas operated by county and city agencies also offer recreational opportunities around the lake.
Lake Lanier was host to the 1996 Centennial Olympic Rowing and Sprint/Canoe/Kayak Events, as well as the 1996 Paralympic Yachting events. These honors have helped make Lanier a world class lake.
