Rustic lake front cottage with boat dock and great views!
About Chris Schmiedeke
Myself, my wife and our two girls live in Dallas, Texas. My wife is originally from Hot Springs and we travel here as much as time will allow. We love the Hot Springs area, and wanted someplace on the lake where we could get away.
Chris Schmiedeke purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Chris Schmiedeke chose Hot Springs
We love this property because of the spectacular views and southerly breeze. We had a place in a cove at one time, and the mosquitos were unbearable. Our home is a rustic 50+ year old cottage built right on the lake. Multiple decks to lounge on, a boat dock and steps right down into the water. Check the photos and reviews to learn more about our vacation home. If you are expecting the Ritz Carlton, this is not your place. This is a fantastic rustic cottage where you can hang out at night and spend your days in the water. It is private and quiet with the rumble of boat engines and waves to put you to sleep on the deck.
What makes this Cottage unique
There are multiple decks to lounge on and great swimming. We are minutes from everything by both boat and car. It is a perfect location.

Cottage on the Lake
Loved the cottage and the view on the lake. This was more than I had expected.
Remote but location, location, location
I have to say, I read most, if not all, of the reviews and those ultimately convinced me to stay here with my family. The property was difficult to locate at first, it is an older structure, it has flaws but honestly that is what we loved. The driveway is steep, that is certainly disclosed in the desccription. Nonetheless, it is accessible and the carport is very handy. I really loved the remote location, the house is simple and nice. The accommodations were extremely adequate. We loved the porch, deck, and dock. Even close to the water we felt secluded. Our kids swam and jumped from the dock. The water was perfect temp (June 2), and, as referenced in other reviews, the bugs were not an issue. We never had to use bug spray. The breezes were good, humidity a bit high, but it was an awesome time for my family. My kids wanted to move there. All in, we were very satisfied.
Wonderful Cabin Right on the Lake
Cozy, clean, close to hiking trails and Hot Springs. Fantastic outdoor space with decks, patio and dock.
Despite spotty weather, we had a wonderful long weekend on the lake. The cabin has truly beautiful views and a great deck to enjoy them from. It is conveniently located near the bypass, so getting to Oaklawn and downtown was very easy. We cooked one breakfast there and had all the basic kitchen items we would need. The cabin is clean and plenty of space for the two of us and two fur babies. We would definitely have liked to stay longer.
We are glad you had a good time!
Prrrrrrfect! Loved 302.
This little house was perfect for our cousins weekend! Exactly what I wanted.
Beautiful view as described! Clean; everything worked! Comfy beds. Used the brick grill - worked fine. I gave 5 stars...would give 10 if I could. 2 suggestions for the owner. We could have used 4 chairs for the table and a mirror in the bedroom. (info to renters - to sleep 8, 1 person gets a couch and another would get a loveseat). Wil definitely rent this place again.
Thank you - we are glad you enjoyed yourself. Yes, 8 adults in probably a no go, 4 adults and 4 children work fine.
Nice sized house right on the lake. Private boat dock, even tho we didn’t have a boat. Driveway is a killer! If you take a boat, you must use other sights to get it in the water. House has some much needed repairs. Felt like I was walking downhill into the kitchen area, which is not good for someone with balance problems. Steps down to the lake should have handrails—same reason for persons with balance issues.
Thank you for the feedback!
Minutes from downtown Hot Springs and Oaklawn Horse racing and gaming.
