About the property

Capture the essence of authentic Puako, just steps away from the ocean while vacationing at artfully designed and decorated Hale ‘Oma’oma’o iki. A mere 200 feet from an amazing beach access, Hale ‘Oma’oma’o iki is located in the middle of Puako, a small vibrant beach community that welcomes guests and locals alike in a friendly, open and relaxed atmosphere.

This inviting, colorful and exceptionally clean cottage has been expertly renovated and restored with fun and playful décor. A simple and well thought out floor plan offers all the essentials needed for an intimate, comfortable, and harmonious dwelling. Filled with light, a rainbow of complimentary colors and new everything, one cannot help but enjoy themselves and delight in this home and setting.

Situated on a large private lot, this lovely cottage also has lush tropical landscaping, a welcoming outdoor shower and two wonderful lanais; one for viewing the sun rise over majestic Mauna Kea and the peaceful Puako kiawe forest, and another for enjoying a refreshing beverage and relishing the day’s adventures.

Come experience Puako's great beachcombing, magnificent sunsets, abundant tide pools, turtles, some of the island's best snorkeling, scuba diving, and favorite surf spots. One can choose between Paniau Beach at one end, Wailea Beach with its white pristine Hawaiian sand and aquamarine ocean at the other, or any of the many beach access points that dot scenic Puako Beach Drive in between.

Hapuna State Beach Park is also located nearby and is a prime spot for body boarding, sunbathing, sand castle making and one of the best beaches in the entire state.

This is undoubtedly a great spot to enjoy the beauty of the island, a tropical lifestyle, the sights, sounds and scents of Hawaii, only as Puako and the surrounding area can deliver, at an authentic vintage cottage.

Perfect for a couple or those with small children.

Great place

  • 5 of 5

Perfect, quiet location, close beach accesses, comfortable accommodations. Very small, no more than 2 adults, no dining table or lounging area but nice large yard and love Puako!

Cute coastal cottage

  • 5 of 5

This home is small and quaint, and well taken care of. The huge back yard with a patio and BBQ was a bonus, and the proximity to the ocean (although not much of a beach) was great. It felt very private, and the neighborhood is like a little oasis among the dozens of resorts nearby. I loved taking my showers outside (your only option), and the jogging trail in the back yard was my morning activity! My only suggestion to the owners would be to plant some more trees/bushes on the north side so that the church parking lot is not looking right into the yard. Overall a wonderful place to stay for a small family!

If you're looking to relax and not worry about anything but the occasional wild Turkey (that are awesome...) this is the place.

It's clean, private and simple in the best possible way. The yard beautifully landscaped and well maintained. We will definitely be staying there again!

Perfect Little Cottage Near My Favorite Beaches

  • 5 of 5

The cottage couldn't be nicer, or the manager more accommodating. The cottage is charming, beautifully furnished and the backyard is large and beautifully framed by bouganvilla bushes. It's close to the beautiful white sands of Hapuna Beach and the great snorkeling at Hapuna Bay, which has a parking lot just about a mile down the road and wonderful shade trees to luxuriate under all day. You can also walk out the door and quickly find ocean access paths that take you to coral beaches that are great for snorkeling, but hard to walk on. Can't wait to return.

A slice of heavenly relaxation

  • 5 of 5

Perfect place for a couple's retreat. Quiet - except for the amazing birdlife... Partridge making the funniest noises and then the turkey's... Big turkey's, just like those back home. They would literally eat granola right out of the hand. Bed was comfortable - no need for A/C or heat, we were always comfortable. The house was well-appointed with everything you need and nothing that you don't. The beach across street was so picturesque, we took some great sunset pictures there. I can see it being excellent snorkeling there but never got around to it. (Not a sandy beach - very lava-rocky but beautiful with sand leading up to it... Really nice general store 1/2 mile away. It was close to some amazing beaches like Beach 69 and Hapuna beach. A nice mall not too far away, and some really good restaurants like the Lava Lava Beach club. I give this stay a perfect "10" and was a great way to end our full big-island tour that started in Kona, then to black sand beach, then Volcano Park, around through Hilo, up and over the mountain to this wonderful cottage (discovering Big Island Brewhaus along the way - best beer I ever tasted brewed on site!).
