Featured by Conde Nast Traveller online, The Huffington Post and Dujour Magazine's online edition, this unique and decidedly modern cabin is the ultimate retreat. The cabin is outfitted with 2 bedrooms with queen beds,a sleeping loft with an additional 2 queen beds and 2 full bathrooms. The vaulted ceiling living room boasts 180 degrees of forest, mountain and river views. For cooking and dining there is a fully equipped kitchen and outdoor gas BBQ.
Bordering crown land with wilderness on all sides this is the perfect place to relax, explore and commune with nature. The Blaeberry River outside presents beautiful canoeing and rafting opportunities. Hiking trails abound including easy riverside walks to full mountain scrambles. The town of Golden offers additional recreational opportunities including whitewater rafting, and skiing. You are also surrounded by 5 National Parks nearby. This is a true Canadian Rockies experience.
The owners, property, and location were all better than you can hope for. It truly is at the end of the road, so if quiet and isolation are in your plans, it will suit.
The owners were super helpful, the view spectacular, the house well-appointed and comfy.
Nothing else to say. Book it!
Although a little hard to find at night (tip- turn into hidden driveway across from Forestry road sign) this place is amazing. The surrounding forest is so lush, you can hear the river and birds with the windows open. It's well equipped with everything you might need- games, firewood, books or a french press. We happened to go to Northern Lights Wildlife to walk with wolves, and hiked out to Thompson Falls- both which are nearby, and awesome. I can't wait to return!
Beautiful house at relaxing/quiet location, very close to the river.
Stayed with my family with two kids and grandma, and all enjoyed the stay.
Would like to come back again.
We stayed here for a long weekend snowboarding at Kickinghorse. There was 2 couples, and 2 singles, and the cabin accommodated us all very well.
It's 20 minutes to the ski lift, which is perfect as the property is secluded and away from Golden.
It's a beautiful setting and the cabin is well appointed.
I would definitely stay here again.
This cabin is amazing. We had stayed in the area many times, and this place is definitely unique. The cabin is in excellent condition, and was spotless, looks like you are the first ones to stay there. We had three couples and two small kids, and with the loft we had enough space for everyone. Excellent location, you can step outside the patio doors and see/hear the river running by. Owners are great to deal with, my fav place in the blaeberry area by far. Great to sit by the fireplace and feel like you are sitting outside, with all of the floor to ceiling windows. 35 mins to ski hill.
I could not be happier with my trip to Golden and my stay in the Pioneer Cabin
My trip was everything I hoped for. I’m considering this Form & Forest design to build on my own land, so the opportunity to rent this property for a test drive and enjoy British Columbia was too much to resist. What a great decision to make the trip!
Ryan was extremely helpful prior to my arrival and provided directions and tips on local grocery stores and other necessities. As soon as I walked through the door I noticed he had left several maps and fliers about local attractions as well, which was both thoughtful and handy over the next few days.
The cabin is well constructed and well appointed. As advertised, eight people could stay in four beds (two beds are in the loft space, and two are in private bedrooms). I found the cabin to have a much larger “feel” than I anticipated due to the high ceiling of the main living area and the open floor plan. The design is fantastic, with views to the outside from almost everywhere.
My visit allowed me to see a number of nice design details that I would not have fully appreciated from just studying floor plans. The sliding doors at opposite ends of the ground floor allow a cross breeze through the kitchen and living area, which would be very nice in the summer. From the entry, you can see out the far side of the cabin, and the window at the top of the stairs adds light and space to the stairwell. Just a few of a dozen or so details you can only pick up in person, and all superbly executed in the Pioneer.
The Blaeberry River is only a few meters away, and the sound of water running over stones is constant whenever you are outside or have the doors open – fantastic. The kitchen has all the plates and silverware and tools you need for a stay of several days, and the grill works perfectly.
Aside from the cabin, I enjoyed seeing Thompson Falls just up the Blaeberry River (watch out, the bridge is out so you have to go around the less improved side) and up to Mt. 7.
The cabin is not especially close to town or the ski area. If you want to get away from it all that’s not an issue, but if you’re looking for a place in Golden for some event this might not be right. The bathrooms are adequate but the only part of the cabin that aren’t spacious – just the requirements is all.
As for a recommendation, after staying in the cabin I’m both very likely to buy the plans for myself and likely to return for another visit.
Surrounded by wilderness on the banks of the Blaeberry river this is the ultimate modern retreat. Endless trails and streams at your door present all kinds of hiking, biking, skiing and paddling opportunities. Golden is 20 minutes offering even more adventures including para gliding, white water rafting and more. Looking for epic skiing and riding? Kicking Horse Resort and it's legendary powder is just 25 minutes away.
