Owner/Property Manager purchased this house in 1949

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Washington

The farm offers up two farmhouse rentals. See #391615 as well. Both homes offer privacy from one another, and not visible from our home, also on the farm. The home is situated on a real working farm, with an unmatched view of the valley, hot air ballooners, and local sky jumpers. It's unique surroundings, and proximity to local farms, antique, boutique and garage sale shopping. The history here is abundant and priceless! Many of the local activities and events include Groundhogs Day celebration Feb.,family activities, farmers market May-Sept, car show in September, Ironman in Lk Stevens every August and more. Such close proximity to hiway 9, I-5 and US 2 make it appealing for people who want to visit outlying areas,Cascade Mts.1 hour to the east, downtown Seattle 30-40 min. discount shopping up north 15 min.or the Puget Sound to west 15 min. When not out exploring, expierence farm life, take a retreat, teach their kids where their food comes from, or just enjoy the quiet country life. Ideal for attending one of the local weddings at one of the local wedding venues, the pumpkin patches and corn mazes in the fall, and year around to visit friends or family in the area. Give your family a unique experience of staying on a real working farm in an original farmhouse from years gone by that not many will ever get to experience in a lifetime! We enjoy the life...we do all the work (unless you want a farm tour and want to help feed)! The history is rich here, the stories about this property and road are endless. Many of the families that live on this road, have been here for many generations. Where else can you go and know all of your neighbors and the history of their parents, grandparents and beyond.Priceless!

What makes this house unique

Avoid staying in a sterile motel/hotel room with limited space. You can come here with just your luggage, relax in a fully equipped, furnished and decorated home, with all the ammentities, cozy beds with fresh linens, towels, fully equipped kitchen. The view from the country porch, and the property is stunning. Shop the local farms to make a farm to table meal, while sitting in your own temporary 117 year old farmhouse! Has wifi and cable tv! .Tell me of a special request and we always try to accomodate. Sit on the country porch & watch the world go by,the front & side yards are professionally landscaped! Your own home while on the farm, with total privacy from the owners/operators on the farm. Help feed, or just take a farm tour! Quiet, peaceful country life! But downtown just 2 miles away! The home has stunning views of the valley from almost every window in the house! So relaxing!

Ecellent Location and Views

  • 5 of 5

This is the third time I’ve stayed at the Hagen Farm. Why stay in a hotel room when you can stay in a farm house with a view of pasture and corn fields right in front of you. That’s why I keep coming back to the 100 plus year old farm house. And then there’s Barbara, Barbara is the best. She is dedicated to making sure your stay is a positive and pleasant experience. The house is very comfortable to stay in and we prepared some meals in during our stay. There is hiking at the back of the property and black berries to pick………..which we did. The business district of Snohomish is nearby and a river runs through it. Take the river walk. We had a family BBQ one day and evening wood fires in the pit at the BBQ area. Barbara conducted a Farm tour for my Grandchildren (4) and they loved seeing the cows, sheep and pigs. Be sure to visit the “Strawdust Lounge”! Overall an excellent experience and of course we will return for another stay. E-I-E-I-O!

Provided you understand it is a farm house, it was very nice.

  • 4 of 5

House was easy to find - there is a sign out front that helped. Arrived on time and met the owner. She is very nice and lives down the road. You must remember this house is a farm house. There are farm-type smells and farm animals nearby - the cows greeted us as we arrived. There are also spiders and other bugs that are normal to this area. But if you understand that, it is so beautiful. Fabulous view out the front windows. Some noise from the road. Curtains are thin, so the early morning sun blinds you. House will sleep 6 (we had 5). Beds are firm and not saggy. Laundry facilities are sufficient. House was very clean and has the necessary kitchen furnishings to make meals. The city of Snohomish is nice as well - several good places to eat, and the pie store and creamery were amazing. Overall it was a nice place to stay.

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to meet this family, after receiving their request to stay, looking forward to "getting out of the city" and staying at the farm. The house sleeps 7, not 6 as the guest has stated. There are 3 single beds in one bedroom upstairs, a double bed in the other upstairs bedroom, and a pillow top queen bed in the master, on the first floor. The words farm, working farm, summary and description on this site, fully disclose that we are just that. So, it's a little perplexing to read of this guests repeated comments in their review, making sure you know that it's a farm house. Although we do have just six cows on the hillside behind our vacation homes, where they have 20 acres to roam, we lease out 160 of our 220 acres. Crops are being grown in these fields. The "smells"are the smells of Snohomish this time of year. With crops being fertilized in the 1000s of acres of farm land here, no matter where you stay in this community, you will smell farm smells. Yes, there are bugs and spiders outside. We always strive to make each guests stay, the best it can be. When I greet guests, as I did this nice family,I told them not to hesitate to call me should they need or want anything, as we live one driveway east, on the farm. I also put this in my house rules note on the kitchen table. I would have been more than happy to bring over darkening curtains for the bedroom. We can only fix something if we are told while the guests are staying. Writing it in a review after checking out does not give us the chance to fix anything a guest may want or need. The view of the Snohomish Valley from the farm is one of the many positives about staying on the farm, so close to the quaint, historical downtown of Snohomish, and we are happy this family took advantage of what our beautiful farming town has to offer!

it was exactly as expected...

  • 4 of 5

The houses are small old farm houses. Exactly what we expected. Clean well kept. We used them for family for a wedding weekend. They were nice and close to the venue, met our families needs and expectations.

Owner's Response: Both homes are centrally located in the heart of Snohomish Valley, which allows for easy access to all of the wedding venues. I would not consider this house to be a small farm house. It is a two story, 3 very large bedrooms, a common area between the upstairs bedrooms, with lot's and lot's of closets, and dresser space. The living space on the first floor has a mud room that is a great space to hold luggage, bikes etc...The kitchen, dining room, living room and downstairs bedroom, have 10' ceilings, with the rooms all being large and spacious. Both homes have been renovated, without destroying all of their original character. We are happy to continue to host so many guests attending weddings in the area. You are able to sleep 11 total, so staying together saves a lot of money, with renting multiple motel/hotel rooms as your alternative.

Great place for family get togethers

  • 4 of 5

Great place for family gatherings! The Christmas tree and lights were a wonderful surprise. Especially enjoyed the

beautiful views of the farm and surrounding mountains. It was great to have a rental in a rural setting just a few minutes from shopping and major roadways. Downtown Snohomish was fun. Will definitely rent again!

Owner's Response: Knowing that the guests were here to visit with friends and family during the holiday, we are delighted to know they all enjoyed the rural setting of the farm. The farm has awesome views of the valley and mountains, giving the feeling of being out in the country, yet guests are able to reach historical downtown Snohomish within five minutes. We hope Rosemary and her family return in the warmer season(s) so they can sit outside and enjoy the view from the lawn chairs!

Great location

  • 4 of 5

This little house was in the perfect location for our visit to the Seattle attractions. Only 35 to 45 minute drive to downtown, yet in a quiet country setting. The house had lots of knick knacks and decor that my wife loved. Very authentic feel. The farm animals were a bonus for the kids. The only cons in our stay was the road in front of the house, between the farm and the house, was more like a highway. Definitely want the kids to stay away from outside without adults protecting them from roadway. Also. There was no WiFi password listed, so no WiFi until I contacted owners to figure out where or what it was. The TV upstairs didn't work, was missing parts that apparently a previous renter had removed, which was quite the disappointment for my daughters. All in all, a great place to stay that will keep improving due to the owners care and hard work.

Owner's Response: Our home and farm is a great place to land, while in the area, whether you are here for a wedding, visiting family/friends, shopping and sight seeing in Seattle, or just want to relax and experience a real working farm. The yard in this home is expansive, the front and side yard on one side fully fenced with a six foot cyclone fence, making it perfectly safe to let the kids play, while you sit on the front country porch seating and enjoy the view and let the kids play without worry or danger. The home's proximity to local roads, hiways and freeways, makes it super convenient to get around locally, and beyond. Although we were unaware of the missing cable connection to the upstairs tv, we offered to move over another tv for the children. We have replaced missing cable connection. The Wi-fi code is provided to guests on the welcome sheet to the home, which always greets guests, on the kitchen table. We take great pride in providing all guests with all they need to make it a great stay, and if guests find something they need/want, we live one driveway over and are always available. The farm is expansive in size, with two massive barns, three homes, and many outbuildings and animal areas. Therefore, it is necessary, if you want a farm tour, to at one point have to go down the road (you can drive), if you want to see a full tour. I am always willing, and enjoy, taking time away from my chores, to give guests a full farm tour to see the pigs, lambs, calves and cows, and the beautiful barns. Guests always enjoy hearing the history of the farm and helping feed the animals if they wish. The farm makes for great family/children photos and I hear from so many guests how much they cherish the memories they made while here! Fall is coming and it's a great time to visit the farm and Snohomish Valley!
