|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage completely renovated a year ago. Walk to the harbor or pick up the Island Explorer bus in front of the cottage.
Our family home is right next door. We are year-round residents of Southwest Harbor. Our children attend the local schools and we are deeply involved in many aspects of our community.
Louise Soucy purchased this cottage in 2009
Easy access to all of MDI from the cottage. Bar Harbor is a 15 minute drive, the summit of Cadillac Mountain is 13 miles, and the pleasure of the quiet village of Southwest Harbor is a few minutes' walk away.
This lovely cottage was perfect! Love the wooden floors, big windows and cozy atmosphere. This cottage is well taken care of and it shows. We had a great week hiking all over the island and always looked forward to coming back to our home away from home. Thank you Louise and Jim!
We already miss beautiful Mount Desert Island.
My family had a wonderful stay. The cottage is very well taken care of and the owners were very attentive and hospitable. We were even able to bring our dog who had a great time with us in Acadia. It was a great location for exploring Acadia or just walking downtown Southwest harbor for fresh baked bread, popovers, or pie.
Thank you for the great stay.
My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful winter get-away to MDI and the Acadia region in February, 2016. This lovely cottage is warm, well-appointed and quite comfortable. Clearly, Louise and Jim have put thought and care into the home. It has a great kitchen and is a modern facility. We loved our visit and plan on returning! It made a great home base to explore Acadia in winter. Our hosts, Louise and Jim, couldn't have been more accommodating. The weather even cooperated nicely, dropping more than a foot of snow on us just in time to enable our cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The cottage was plowed as clean as a whistle bright and early the next morning! Southwest harbor and Bar Harbor do have wonderful restaurants that remain open all winter, if one wants a change of pace from cooking your own. The park is beautiful in winter!
This lovely cottage is the perfect place for people who love quietude, appreciate Nature, respect a pristine environment. The hosts Louise and Jim are respectful, gracious, kind: the perfect hosts. They have taken excellent care of their beautiful cottage. My family and I are very grateful for the privilege of staying in this cottage, a real gem, and we value everything about it, and treasure the time we spent in this home, and the magnificent mountains, woods, ocean, lakes surrounding it.
This is an excellent property, beautifully remodeled and in a very desirable location. Upon entering the cottage we could tell that the owners put great thought and effort to make our stay wonderful. We were greeted by Jim (owner and neighbor) soon after we arrived. He was eager to answer all our questions and provide us with lots of suggestions for our stay. The cottage has an open floor plan that includes a new eat-in-kitchen and living room. There were two very nice sized bedrooms and a large modern bathroom with washer and dryer in a closet area. The cottage was stocked with EVERYTHING we could need for our week long stay. The property has wonderful natural light coming in through the large windows throughout. We enjoy hiking, restaurants, shopping and photography. This location was perfect for us. Acadia was 15 minutes away, downtown Bar Harbor was fun for shopping, with lots of restaurants. We enjoyed ending each day with a short drive to Seawall to watch the waves break against the shore, and then off to Gott's General Store for ice cream. Louise and Jim were wonderful hosts and extremely accommodating. We'll be back next year for sure!
The cottage was clean and well stocked, convenient to the park and the owners were very nice. We explored so much of the park in such a short time. It was a fantastic place to rent for the half marathon and a short walk from the finish line. There a few hikes in Acadia within a mile or two. Southwest Harbor is a short walk. Eagle Lake and the Cadillac entrance to the park loop road are a short drive (10 miles?).
Located on the quite side of Mount Desert Island. Minutes from Acadia National Park, hiking, biking and swimming. Ten-minute walk to the inner harbor.
There is an additional charge for paying online, minimum of $25/week. Please call owner first to verify rate.
