Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Huge and very clean house. Great place for a large family. Close to downtown (within walking distance, but a harder walk back up to the house)I and easy entrance to Rocky National Park. Saw Elk in front yard a couple mornings. Looking forward to staying there again in the future!!

Lovely, spacious home in a great location

  • 4 of 5

We used the Banana Cabana as a base of operations for a trip to RMNP with our 18 month old twins. The home had plenty of space for the kids to play around. There were entertainment options (books, games, movies) in case of bad weather, but it was nice that the house wasn't jammed full of knick-knacks and the like. Simply and nicely decorated with plenty of bed space. The home is a mid-century classic with the original (i'm assuming) metal cabinets. The bathrooms have been nicely updated. The back deck is spacious, with covered and uncovered sections. Loved the hot tub after days of hiking. The only thing missing was chaise lounge chairs for the back deck to make star gazing just a bit easier, but not necessarily required. Spent several monrings watching night turn into day, peacefully watching the mountains. It was great being able to walk to the restaurants and shops downtown while being out of the main hustle and traffic. It was easy to get to the National Park. Was very satisfied with the home and the manager, Steve. Not sure when we'll be able to get out to the area again, but would definitely like to use the Cabana as our base once more.

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure having you stay in our home. We have made many improvements since purchasing it. It is nice to know other people like it too. For future reference if there is a problem with the amenities please let us know so we can rectify the situation. Some items, like the bedspreads require special care that our guests may not be aware of.

read the fine print

I struggled with what to rate this rental. Its great on some points, but others not so much. This place is all about the view. The view is outstanding- Lumpy Ridge, surrounding mountains and Estes Park Lake from the living room and dining room. Longs Peak from the two larger bedrooms. And on the deck- all that and the Stanley. The interior of the house is as advertised in the photos. The bathrooms are recently remodeled and motel like. The rest of the house is dated but comfortable. Though one caveat- the kitchen is not a cooks kitchen. If you plan on using kitchen for coffee and quick breakfasts and snacks its just fine. But if you would like to do real cooking its not ideal. The kitchen layout is awkward and the stove/oven has to be more than 30 years old. The oven temperature runs cool, causing one of our meals to be less than optimal. But, my real issue was with check out. To begin with the house was generally clean. A bit of a musty smell on first entry but aired out quickly. The problem started with the bedding. My bedspread did not appear clean. I would call it soiled. So I threw it in the washing machine. Unfortunately, it ripped in the washer. I thought I had emailed the property manager prior to check out on this issue. But at checkout I was charged over $100 for this. The explanation was I should have washed the bedspread in a commercial washer. This seemed unfair and also made me question how often the bed spreads are actually washed. But after that I have to say, if you are all about an affordable view the might be the place for you.

Cabana stay

  • 5 of 5

Had a great trip to Estes park and enjoyed our stay! The house was clean, in great condition, and it had a very cozy feel to it. We spent more time at the house enjoying the back porch, hot tub, and grill than what I figured we would. The location is great because it is more or less in the middle of everything without being crowded b people. We could walk to Main Street pretty easily and ride the buses from there, or drive pretty quickly to anywhere we wanted to go. Thanks again to the owner for a great stay and a fun cozy house.
