About the property

1 Bedroom Lakeview Cottage with Private Dock

This newly remodeled cottage is located just a few miles downstream from the convergence of the Withlacoochee River and the spring-fed Rainbow River, Lake Rousseau is a place to relax, unwind and enjoy the beauty of Old Florida. Set amidst majestic Oaks and Cypress trees draped in Spanish Moss, the wildlife and natural setting is ideal for fishing and relaxing. For the more adventuresome, there's tubing, swimming and snorkeling on the Rainbow River, golfing at Juliette Falls or El Diablo, swimming with the Manatees in Crystal River, or bring your own boat and explore the local waterways. In addition to the Withlacoochee and the Rainbow, the Crystal and Homosassa Rivers as well as the Gulf of Mexico are all within a short drive, with plenty of public-access boat ramps available.

About Mike and Terry Holt

My wife and I are originally from South Florida, and moved to the Ocala/Dunnellon area 15 years ago to get away from the concrete and congestion of city life. We run our own electrical contracting business and are very active in the community. My wife volunteers at the local Humane Society and Wildlife Care Centers, and we are both volunteer musicians in the local symphonic band which performs free concerts for the community six times a year. When we have free time, my wife loves to kayak and knit; and you can usually find me bass fishing in my boat.

Mike and Terry Holt purchased this cottage in 1999

Beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We only had 3 days at this lovely cottage and will definitely be back. Terry and Mike are wonderful hosts. Loved our little cottage on the lake. Thank you for the cutting of the Ginger Plant.

Beautiful, comfortable, relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The birds on the lake were so beautiful to watch from the dock. Comfy studio apartment with everything we needed: friendly helpful hosts, privacy, quiet, comfy bed, awesome big shower, good cable. Came to relax and relax we did. Our hosts even provided local wine and fresh citrus from the yard. The woodfired "pizza joint" had amazing food right down the road. We were well fed relaxed and happy. Just wish our stay had been longer!! Would book this again in a heartbeat. Thanks!!!

Perfect for a couple seeking a peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stay at vacation rentals regularly and this was one of the best and most comfortable. The cottage was perfect size for two people in an amazingly beautiful setting. It was so peaceful and calm and even doing nothing sitting by the lake was wonderful. It's close to many nature activities if desired as well.

AWESOME, Relaxing get away.

  • 5 of 5

Mike & Terry were so gracious & helpful, on our stay. We stayed 5 nites, morning sunrise coffee on the dock, evening sunset on the dock w/ glass of wine, day trips around the area. What more could you ask for. Cottage has homey feel, & the wild life, is every place you look. We strongly recommend this property.

Beautiful, Seculded Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Mike and Terri's home is an absolute paradise. Located about 10 minutes from either Crystal River or Dunellon, their property is beautifully landscaped with tropical flowers and moss covered trees. They have a wonderful dock that overlooks the river which was a perfect place to sit and watch the local wildlife. They were wonderful, welcoming hosts, and Mike even offered to take my boyfriend out fishing in the morning. We couldn't have enjoyed our stay more and would love to return here the next time we're in the area.

In Dunnellon, visit Rainbow Springs State Park and tube or kayak on the crystal clear Rainbow River. In the city of Crystal River, there are plenty of things to do for the whole family, including world-class flats fishing in clear waters for red fish, trout, and tarpon. During the cooler months, you can swim with the manatees, or if you'd rather see them without getting wet, visit Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park. Crystal River offers one of the few remaining areas to scallop in Florida during the summer. Offshore, there is terrific shallow and deep water grouper fishing. Within a short drive, there is a mall with a multiplex movie theater; restaurants and shopping in historic downtown Crystal River; kayaking, walking and bike trails; snorkeling and scuba diving. Plan a day trip to any of the nine state parks within 50 miles or work on your back swing at one of the 12 nearby golf courses. We are located 90 minutes north of Orlando and Tampa, convenient to major airports and Theme Parks.
