You Won't Find A Cottage With Better Views On The West Side Of Cape Breton
I have been living here for more than 20 years, and Bell grew up in Cape Breton, in Margaree Valley, just 20 minutes away. We met in art school in Halifax, and after living in New York for a few years, we moved back here permanently in 1997. We have a pottery gallery in Margaree, Bell is also a painter, and I am a photographer and videomaker. We both love Cape Breton, which comes alive in June and the weather stays awesome until October. There are plenty of beautiful places to explore here, even if you have lived here for 20 years!
Stewart purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why Stewart chose Chimney Corner
I built the cottage in 2015-16; there was a dramatic spot on the property with spectacular views. It is a lovely location with wild roses all around, juniper vines and fabulous unobstructed views of the ocean. The views of the ocean, Chimney Corner Beach, and Sea Wolf/Margaree Island are simply amazing. There is also all of the privacy one could want. This building is a perfect getaway for a couple, with complete privacy and solitude. There's just nothing else like this cottage in Cape Breton. There's a real sense of romance and intimacy here, a multi-level deck, which is stunning- what an incredible panorama stretching out before you! You hear the sounds of the ocean all of the time- really a soothing thing.
What makes this Cottage unique
Cape Breton is a spectacular place, and the scenery on this stretch of coast is particularly striking; the mountains, dramatic plunging cliffs and ocean make a stunning combination. it can also be dramatic, with 130 kph winds at many points of the year. The ocean is warm enough for swimming in the summer, and we see some of the most dramatic sunsets anywhere, watch whales play in our front yard, and fishermen haul their lobster traps each year. Moose, eagles, deer and foxes are regulars. You are also close to the Cabot Trail (5 minutes), the National Park (25 minutes), and other towns and villages (5-15 minutes). If you are a golfer, you are close to Cabot Links & Cliffs in Inverness, which offer one of the great and unique golf experiences in North America. Cabot Cliffs is now ranked 9th in the world (!!) and was developed by Ben Cowan-Dewar and Mike Keiser (who developed Bandon Dunes in Oregon). The acclaim for the complex so far is pretty much unanimous-from the New York Times to Golf Digest. You can also take advantage of local restaurants, eat freshly cooked lobster or crab, and be only a short distance from one of the best hiking networks outside the Park, between Mabou and Inverness. There's a lovely new restaurant opening this summer just a half-mile north of this cottage. There's also a fantastic boardwalk in Inverness, only 18 minutes away, which winds its way along the oceanfront, beach and golf course. There are also renowned crafters in the area; interesting pottery, quilting, rug hooking, and folk art can all be found locally.

A little piece of heaven on earth.
One of our most memorable vacations ever! TumbleSea was as advertised and more. Stewart gave us great suggestions on places to see and restaurants to eat and other helpful hints. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and the view from the deck was beyond compare. If there was a downside it was that we had to leave. TumbleSea gets a top shelf, 5 star rating!
Beautiful scenery. Wonderful hospitality
We had a wonderful stay in Tumble Sea. Everything we needed was provided. Extremely clean. Spectacular location. Wonderful host. If we return to Cape Breton will definitely stay here again.
There are not enough words to describe this property. Exceeded our expectations, Amazing views, Private, Great location.... Perfect in every single way. Comfy bed,
Perfect place to disconnect
Property has an "old fashioned cottage feel" with tasteful architectural upgrade, comfortable bed, lots of nice quality towels in the bathroom, good heating for cool days and VIEWS!! We were entertained by a pair of golden eagles, lobster fisherman, the Suetes (Western Cape Breton winds). Our host was quick to respond to our WIFI issues. (Bring a DVD player in case of disruption. This is the ideal place to read). Hiking trails with beautiful views nearby (25-30 minutes), a 20 min drive for groceries (Margaree Coop- friendliest service ever!), and of course FRESH seafood (we sampled in Inverness & Cheticamp). Cell phone service can be spotty but better in the nearby towns if you need to keep in touch. Don't miss out on the Larchwood Enterprises in Margaree to check out their beautiful cutting boards!
A new router was installed immediately to make sure high-speed service worked properly after some hiccups were reported. Our subsequent guest says the WiFi service is fine. We tell guests when they book this cottage that we offer "rural high-speed" which is good for general purposes (with average speeds of 1-2.5 mb/sec), but is not as fast as 'city' service / fibre optic.
Amazing! Sunning! Breathtaking! How can I thank you enough?
This is our second trip to this cottage in as many years. Greatly in need of a peaceful and relaxing spot to rest and relax, Cape Breton and this Chimney Corner cottage was simply perfect. No detail is overlooked. Clean, comfortable, nicely appointed and one of the most stunning locations in the world. As a host, Stewart can't do enough for you. Thank you, Stewart, for a lovely week! We will be back soon.
Quiet and beautiful with all the needed amenities. Thank you!
