About Jim Woodward
(Picture to the left is a Spring motorcycle ride on Skyline Road) My wife, Mary, and I enjoy outdoor activities, meeting people, and sharing our place. We love the Flint Hills and Lake Wabaunsee. We have the cabin to help us create good memories. We hope you will come visit and create some good memories of your own.
Jim Woodward purchased this House in 2000
Why Jim Woodward chose Alma
Lake Wabaunsee is 30 minutes from our home. I first went to the lake on a fishing trip with my dad when I was 10. I had a great time and caught my fill of sunfish. It continues to be a good place to create great memories. There is something enchanting about the lake. It renews us both mentally and physically when we spend time here; it is the perfect break from the stress of everyday life.
What makes this House unique
A trip to Lake Wabaunsee is like going back in time, a more simple and peaceful time.

Great place for a Board retreat
This is our second time staying in this cabin. We used every inch of it and enjoyed all the different places to gather. Since it was November, we didn't use the lake, but it was cozy and the view of the lake was beautiful. Jim was great to work with. We had a great time.
"On Golden Pond" in the Flint Hills of Kansas
What a gem we found out in the Flint Hills of Kansas! A great place to get away from it all! There was plenty of room for our group of 10 adults. Unfortunately, we were only able to stay a short weekend, so we were not able to enjoy and experience the full potential of this beautiful cabin on the lake.
We loved the boat house and the lake! Caught several fish in the lake while tooling around in one of the kayaks!
We took several walks around the beautiful neighborhood and and met several wonderful people! Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to play a round on the local, beautiful, 9 hole golf course.
Ate dinner one evening at the local restaurant across the lake, The Lodge Bar & Grill. The food was amazing! Make sure to order the Jalepeno Wontons and the Onion Rings! Everything else we ordered was also very good! Went back later and shared some of our homemade peach ice cream with the wonderful staff!
I love your review it was even nicer meeting you in person. I liked the comment you made to me describing the cabin and the lake as 'finding "On Golden Pond"!.'
KSU Game weekend
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your lake house while we were in the area for the KSU football game. We had fun fishing and kayaking on the lake and taking walks through the neighborhood. Jim was always very responsive to questions and the house had everything we needed. Thank you for a fun weekend get away!
We had a fantastic girls weekend. The owner was super easy to work with and always available for questions. The property had so much room and the boathouse was an awesome added bonus. We look forward to staying here again!
Great! Glad to hear it. Hope to see you again Jim
Beautiful location, large space, many options
I stayed here with 4 family members and had friends come in for meals and fun times and the space was ideal. The boat house is charming, and we even liked the stairs. The pool table was a nice addition. Locals in the region were helpful and friendly. The kitchen is pretty well stocked, though the dishwasher doesn't work very well.
Hidden gem in the Flint Hills
Very enjoyable stay. The lake is clean, the fishing was pretty good, and it was pretty quiet and not overcrowded like so many of the lakes you visit. The pier is a great place to hang out, read, swim, fish. Also, for the golfers, the little 9-hole course that's just down the street is charming - beautiful vistas of the Flint Hills as you play. Very unique.
Lake Wabaunsee is located on Kansas 4 highway. This is locally known as a scenic, native stone highway; it is popular for motorcyclists as the highway winds through the beautiful flint hills.
Lake Wabaunsee is 40 miles southwest of Topeka. It is also about 40 miles from Manhattan and Emporia.
