Overview

About the property

A cozy cottage with spectacular 180 degree view of Lake Ontario, located near Picton and Bloomfield, in the midst of town and wine country.

This water side house was inspired by and has been recently restored to the feel of a gracious turn of the century upscale sea side Guest house with extensive use of cedar and vintage wood on the interior. We call it “West Water Place”. It is located conveniently in the beautiful water front vacation town of Wellington Ontario, on a quiet street directly overlooking majestic Lake Ontario. West Water place offers a stunning uninterrupted 180 degree lake view from every room and cool breezes when the summer is hot. It’s just steps from shops, restaurants and ideal for cycling to wineries as well. In addition, this small town meets all your daily shopping requirements, food store, pharmacy, and vegetable market, LCBO, all within easy walking distance from your cozy cottage.

Watch the sun rise over the famous Sand Banks Provincial Park while listening to the waves breaking along the gently sloping limestone shore .A perfect place for swimming, directly in front of your house, or body surfing/ wind sailing when the winds are up.

Enjoy the long summer night from the sun room or deck admiring the moon’s reflection on the lake, and the melody of the happy sound of the waves.

This luxury vacation home offers all modern day conveniences, and has been totally updated in every way. As you enter into West Water Place you are welcomed by a large open concept living room/dining room with original beam ceilings, old pine floors and a comfortable mix of antique furniture. You will be greeted with an unobstructed southern exposure view of the beautiful Lake Ontario from every room. Directly off the dining room is the well laid out kitchen equipped with dish washer, antique pantry/ sink and all cooking utensils ready and waiting for the cooking enthusiast, again with a full view of the Lake. After a busy day on the deck or entertaining friends, satellite TV. and VCR awaits you to relax and catch up on the news or take in a movie.

A spacious main floor bedroom suite with double bed and attached three piece bath with walk in shower and washer dryer adds to your convenience and is ideal for seniors or those who are stair challenged. A beautiful antique door leads directly from this room to the large deck, for you morning coffee or viewing of the wild life on the water in front of you. (Our favourites are the swans)

Best for last , completing the main floor is the majestic sun room , with wall to wall traditional windows featuring an amazing view of Lake Ontario, as if you were gazing from a cruise ship onto the ocean. This is the room you will use for breakfast and lunch or to sit in out of the sun or weather, all the while enjoying the breathtaking view, and the sound of the waves.

The gracious stair case with antique banister, the kind you used to slide down at grandmothers house, takes you to the second floor where there are two additional large traditional bed rooms each equipped with a queen size bed and a single bed, again with two windows in each room overlooking the lake. The upstairs spacious bath room features a claw foot antique tub with shower and vintage sink. All bed rooms have fine linen and fluffy towels, always fresh and clean. The spacious hallway provides plenty of closet space.

The large south facing ground floor level lake view patio deck, directly off the sun room and ground floor bedroom, is complete with BBQ, and wooden Muskoka chairs, and has a large cast table and chairs ideal for outdoor dining , lounging with a book, or just taking the sun.

You will love it.

Really lovely 19th century cottage, with beautiful views of Lake Ontario.

Listing description was very accurate, property is clean and well-maintained. The owner, Jasna, was wonderful and provided excellent and thoughtful service and support. I would definitely recommend this property to friends/relatives. Since it is located in (very pedestrian friendly) old downtown Wellington, there are lots of great amenities within a block or two.

beautiful spot

  • 5 of 5

This place was beautiful, we were three couples and we felt that the home was very spacious. We had everything we needed and everything was a walk away. We rented some bikes up the street from house for touring around the wineries. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely rent it again.

Beautiful cottage

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I recently enjoyed a very relaxing week at west water place with our young daughter. The cottage is well appointed, comfortable and in a great location. The views of Lake Ontario were unparalleled. Walking distance to shops, beach, great kids park and restaurants. Jasna went out of her way to provide us with a portable crib for our baby as well as a highchair, which made a huge difference to us since we were coming from out of province. My Only minor complaints (why I gave four stars) would be very light drapes in the bedrooms and not the most comfortable queen bed on the second floor. Otherwise, it was fantastic. We hope to come back again some day!

Owner's Response: thanks for your very positive review, we are glad you enjoyed yourselves , you are welcome back anytime, In regard to curtains, they are Italian designer material fabric, and while they are quite substantial, they are not intended as black out curtains , as you would use in a child's room. The beds are a recent purchase and are quality Sealy mattress's. we joke at our house that we should go and sleep at West Water, the beds are better. Thanks again for the great review, hope to see you again soon.

The perfect spot!

  • 5 of 5

My elderly father, husband and I stayed at West Water for two weeks and were sorry to have to leave. The location was great. We loved to hear the waves and yet be able to walk to pick up groceries. Eating in the sunroom overlooking the water was delightful. The kitchen was well stocked and made preparing meals easy. The beds were very comfy and the bedding was lovely and plentiful. The cottage was very well furnished and comfortable for relaxing on those days we were not out touring the countryside, visiting the beaches or on a winery tour. Being able to take my camp chair down to sit on the shore was an added bonus. There is a lot to see and do in this beautiful county. Last but not least, Jasna and Mike were so pleasant and easy to work with and quick to respond whenever we had a question or any concern. I certainly intend to return to West Water in the future. Thank you Jasna and Mike for your hospitality.

Extremely cozy with lots of character.

  • 5 of 5

We all loved the ambience the minute we walked into the cottage. Beautiful big apple tree in front along with mesmerizing views of the lake. Could see the Wellington Lighthouse off in the distance, which I painted and sold last year (being an artist). Loved all the wood and remnants of the past (knob and tube wiring - just left there to see - wiring is current). The home was well equipped, however, I agree with a past review of preferring a queen-sized bed in the master bedroom.

The location was perfect to walk into town to visit all the galleries and restaurants that are available, which also included a glass-blowing demonstration. And bike rentals were right across the street.

Thanks Jasna and Mike for a memorable mini vacation with my family at your lovely property.

So Hard To Leave...

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful place, incredible memories. The home has everything you need and enough space for us and our children.

Being in town and close to stores and shops is great. Honestly - we wouldn't change anything except make our stay longer next time.

Big bonus - Jasna was a pure pleasure throughout the entire booking process.
