We stayed for 2 months in the summer. Everything was perfect. Everything you need is there. Stocked very well. The owner works with you and is a lovely person. I would recommend this property to anyone. The town is lovely and not far from the water. We will be glad to stay again.
I was fortunate enough to stay in this cottage for the fall and winter of 2015. The village of Bellport is a charming little community, with plenty of places to eat and shop. It's a short walk through a comfortable, friendly neighborhood. The house is also just a few miles from downtown Patchogue and its bustling nightlife, and the train station is about a mile away. I found the house very comfortable. The layout is bright, airy, and well appointed. The kitchen has enough cookware and dishes to feed an army. The bedrooms are small but the beds so comfy that I can't remember the last time I slept so well away from home.
Best of all, I found the owner very easy to work with, as my schedule in the area ran 3 months longer than expected. She worked with me to extend my time there and did not try to take advantage of the fact that I probably needed the place to stay more than she needed to rent it to me. The only maintenance issue that popped up while I was there was some snow removal, and it was taken care of immediately. All in all, I found my entire experience in Bellport very satisfying, and would not hesitate to stay here again if work or recreation takes me this way.
We rented for two months in the summer. We grew up on Long Island and wanted to be able to escape the heat of Phoenix and enjoy a summer on the Island. We have a lot of friends and family in the area. The cottage in Bellport was a perfect location for us. We were able to walk to town, library and post office. We took the ferry to Ho Hum Beach and enjoyed many a free concert at the band shelter. We were frequent visitors to Deer Run Farm Stand a few minutes drive from town. There are several good restaurants nearby. We also took advantage of the Long Island Railroad and spent a few days in NYC. The cottage was clean and the kitchen and well stocked. The beds were comfortable. The backyard was lovely with large shade trees and a nice deck. There is also a cool cross breeze when you open the windows. The owners were very helpful. We would recommend this home for a rental.
We rented for the months of Dec 2013-Jan 2014 therefore we were not able to take advantage of any of the summer activities. We rented to be near our family for the holidays. We did take advantage of many of the wonderful restaurants in the area and shopping facilities. Everything we needed was very conveniently located. We would definitely consider renting here during the summer months. If I had one issue, it would be the furniture in the living room. It was not very comfortable for entertaining or for watching TV. Also, if I rented in the summertime, I would like to have a BBQ grill available. Kathleen and John were delightful to deal with. Couldn't ask for nicer people.
This home in Bellport is charming and the owners were very helpful. The house is very comfortable and has everything you might need. The twenty minute walk to the village itself is delightful. The town is a very compact area in which there are banks, cleaners, a post office, a library, and a grocery store. In addition, there are several choices of good restaurants. Add another ten minutes to the walk, and you are on the water.
We highly recommend this home for a rental.
We rented this cottage for a month to visit our grandchildren who live all over Long Island. It was centrally located for us.
The cottage was clean and well maintained.
Kathleen and John were very gracious during our stay.
If we plan another visit like this, we would definately stay at this location if available.
Long a favorite of artists, photographers and designers, Bellport is a small, charming historic village on the Great South Bay of Long Island's South Shore. Known for its classic white picket fences, shady streets and abundant seafood, Bellport is perfect for those who want a getaway that feels like it's light years from Manhattan--but takes no more than two hours to drive takes to get to the Hamptons!
The village has several superb restaurants, an ice cream shop, liquor store, grocery, drug store, to in the worst traffic. That's less than half the time it dry cleaner, hair salon and antiques shops, plus the Gateway Playhouse, which puts on Broadway shows during the summer. The village also has a country club with a golf course and a restaurant open to the public. Bellport's Ho Hum Beach is across the bay on Fire Island and reached by the village ferry, which is available to residents and their guests for a nominal fee. The beach has a snack bar, showers and a lifeguard station.
Founded by Captains Thomas and John Bell in the early 19th century, Bellport has a distinctly New England feel, with broad lawns and clipped hedges surrounding its white Greek Revival homes and quaint Victorians. Jackie Kennedy Onassis spent some childhood summers with relatives in Bellport. Photographer Bruce Weber spent a couple of decades in the village and memorialized it in a number of photo shoots. Although the village is so low-key you may never notice or see them, Bellport celebrities include model/actress Isabella Rossellini, interviewer Charlie Rose and former Massachusetts Gov. William Weld.
Bellport host several events throughout the year such as 5k Clipper Classic Race, Bellport Day, Artists on the Lane and Memorial Day Parade. The Hamptons, Northfork wineries and Outlet shopping are all just an easy 20 minute drive. The local bandshell offers free concerts throughout the summer.
