We are a family of four. This spot is one of our favorite vacation places because when we are here, we are united and nothing interferes with that good old-fashioned family togetherness.
The Nguyen Family purchased this cabin in 2002
When we first saw this cabin and its surroundings we were stunned by the beauty and magnificence there. It looked like something you would only see in a painting. It is truly a hidden paradise that we have found.
The energetic river is very soothing to gaze at and to listen to. The motion of the river seems to relax the mind, body, and soul. Truly a unique part of staying at our cabin.
We had a most fabulous week! the kids enjoyed throwing rocks into the creek - we even caught a few fish using the hook and corn. It was so wonderful being able to walk down and see the waterfalls any time of day. So beautiful and peaceful - very relaxing.
We experienced so much wildlife: Butterflies, a huge caterpiller, bats, black snake, fish, crawfish, salamanders, frogs, deer, etc . . . picking blueberries down the road was a real highlight and eating the blueberry cobbler was even better! It was a wonderful vacation. Your cabin was just exactly what we wanted. Thank You!
We loved our visit to the cabin. The kids and dogs were in river all day long. Water shoes are a must. The cabin had everything we needed. We shopped at Food Lion on the first day, and never left again. We stayed 4 nights. The 2 bedrooms upstairs are lofts without a fourth wall. It worked fine with us, but not very private. We will be back to stay. Perfect place to enjoy the outdoors with family!
This is our second time staying here and we love it! It's so peaceful and relaxing. The cabin is right on the creek and very private with all the amenities you need for your stay. The creek is beautiful the way it runs over and through the giant rocks and spills into pools perfect for swimming. You will not regret staying here!
The property was gorgeous and my boys including my husband were in heaven. The waterfall and stream really were beautiful, although my husband was very excited about the prospect of catching a trout and none were to be found or caught. We enjoyed the outdoor porch and especially liked how it was closed off so that my 22 month old daughter could not escape down to the stream. The caretaker was extremely helpful and very nice when we had questions.
The cabin was fine. My boys enjoyed the loft upstairs. The spiral staircase was a bit tricky with a little one, but we managed. The cabin did have an overwhelming smell of mothballs. Not sure what the smell was, but it took some getting used to.
It was a little out of the ordinary that we had to do all the cleaning before we checked out. I would much rather pay to have a cleaning service. I am a clean freak and spent my whole last morning cleaning up, and felt the cabin was cleaner when we left than when we arrived. The bathroom downstairs is a bit outdated and small, but we survived it. The kitchen is fully stocked and had everything we needed. Overall the property is great. My boys enjoyed the campfire at night and the beautiful outdoors by day. We would love to stay again!!
This cabin was exactly what we were looking for: quiet, on a river (with fun sliding rocks and swimming holes and boulders to climb on), wooded serenity, in the beauty of North Carolina. We took one day trip into Boone to explore and eat out but otherwise we hiked the gravel driveway (quite a hilly, gorgeous long walk), swam and fished and played in the river, cooked for ourselves in the well stocked kitchen (all the equipment you'd have at home including a gas grill), played board games, watched movies, did yoga on the deck overlooking the waterfall and slept peacefully to the sound of the river. What a wonderful time!
I had rented thru VRBO / Homeaway for July 13, 2016, for 4 nights & received a confirmation and payment was received. On the day we were to arrive, I sent a text stating that we were heading out and excited about coming. I was quickly told at that time that they had over booked and they had to cancel our stay even though I had confirmation and they had received the complete payment. It just would have been nice if I had of known because we (grandma & grandpa) ended up staying in a hotel room with 3 grandchildren. Definitely not what we had planned. I'm sure it would of been a nice place.
The location of the cabin is beautiful. You cannot beat the gorgeous surroundings. The owners were great and responded timely to each question prior to arriving.
The cabin porches are very, very dirty. One of the items on the check out check list is to sweep porches. There is no way the main porch has been swept in a long time. We did not sweep it as we paid for a post stay cleaning.
In addition, the light bulb in the fridge didn't work. The television satellite or internet connection didn't work (I was fine with this, my husband not so much).
When we arrived, the cabin was very warm. We were told that the air was broken during a stay by a former guest and that the temp could not go lower than 73. That was okay. We just wanted to get the cabin cool enough to feel comfortable. The temp was in the high 80's outside. The cabin did finally cool down.
The river front is beautiful. You can't see it from the main floor of cabin as hoped though. You can only see it from the porch and not very well when trees have leaves. I imagine it's gorgeous in the fall and winter.
So, if you're a rustic, outdoorsy, kind of person , you will love this place. Seriously, the beauty of the river and trees and rocks cannot be beat!
