If you are looking for the perfect mountain getaway in North Georgia, visit the Bull Mountain Lodge and become part of the relaxed mountain atmosphere. Perfect for small parties (accommodates up to 8) seeking comfort and relaxation. Designed specifically for families or small groups that want a secluded weekend away. Located just 12 miles from the historic Dahlonega Square.
Our family stayed at Bull Mountain Lodge from April 14-18, 2016. The outside property is beautiful with a mountain stream. The inside of the cabin needs a lot of TLC. This cabin is extremely rustic ....more like a fishing cabin for men. The beds upstairs are not comfortable at all and very squeaky and one bed post is broken. The kitchen was under equipped and most of the pots and pans were dirty and had to be washed/scrubbed before using, There were no kitchen towels or dish cloths at all. No ice maker. Also, there were no wash cloths...only towels and not enough of those considering we were staying 4 days. I called Ryan, and to his defense, he did deliver 4 wash cloths (very worn) the next evening and tell us where to find more towels in an upstairs closet. The towel rack in the bathroom was broken and kept falling off the wall. There were light bulbs missing in several places and it was virtually impossible to play cards or games at night because the lights in the dining and kitchen area were so dim. Our biggest problem was the road going in. It needs a lot of work. There are huge pot holes and it is a very long dirt road. I will always ask about roads from now on!! As I said, we loved the outside of the cabin. It was absolutely beautiful but this cabin is not for a family and it is definitely not for more than a night or so. If you are just looking for a bed for the night, this might work. If you are wondering why there are not many pictures of the inside of the cabin and the outside is the main focus, this is probably why. We have stayed in much nicer cabins for less money.
My wife and I stayed in early March, so it was nice and chilly in the mornings and comfortable in the afternoons.
Bull Mountain Lodge is VERY secluded off of a National Forest service road. There is no cell service here, but that is a good thing if you want to completely disconnect! The owner has a working land line, and active DirecTV service.
The interior is clean and has everything you need. It's a cozy atmosphere and there is room for a family. We didn't use the upstairs since it was only the two of us. The hot water and central heat work very well. Be sure to bring your food, and there's plenty there to cook with. There is ice in the freezer.
The outside is pure heaven. The first thing you'll notice is the sound of the creek running through the front yard. It reminded me of one of those sound machines and was very relaxing. There's a good sized pond, and you can bring some fishing gear for casual fishing. There's an outdoor fireplace/grill and a really nice gazebo/deck right at the edge of the pond.
The property is only about a 10 minute drive to downtown Dahlonega. I'm glad we came when we did because it was the off-season and not crowded at all. Everyone's friendly and welcoming. The North Georgia University campus sits right in the heart of Dahlonega and is absolutely beautiful...makes me want to send my kids there so I can buy myself a cabin and just stay!
For me, my dream is to retire in a cabin in the woods and I got a nice taste of it, although it was only for two days. I'm originally from Georgia, and it was nice to get back to my roots and get back to the Southern Hospitality I've grown up with.
I can't say enough good things about BML. If you want more info, they're also listed on facebook. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. They met us at the cabin to get us checked in and everything running, then that was the last I heard from them...although I would've liked to meet them for some Chicken Fried!
If you're looking in Dahlonega and you want peace, you can stop looking. Go ahead and book this, you won't be sorry.
Very peaceful setting and friendly to the whole family. The boys really enjoyed fishing in the pond and the creek offered a quiet atmosphere right in the front yard. The cabin is well maintained and has a Wyoming theme.
We enjoyed our stay!
