Beautiful location, comfortable property
We stayed as a family of 6 - 3 children, 3 adults. Plenty of space for all of us. Loved the upstairs bedrooms with the fantastic views. The children liked their downstairs bedrooms.
The location is good, halfway between Dunfanaghy and Falcarragh, but you will need a car. Walking / running along the N56 is a bit dicey and I couldn't find a path / track.
The scenery is stunning - beautiful beaches, forests, rocky hillsides. All within a short distance of the cottage.
Some of the decor could do with a refresh (e.g. Downstairs bedroom curtains), and could do with some more furniture (e.g. Storage in downstairs bedroom, bedside table in master).
Thanks for a great week.
Great 3 night break
Loved being back in Donegal after a 10 year hiatus and this cottage added to a brilliant few days. We appreciated the space, comfortable beds, tasteful modern decor and lovely views to the sea.
There is everything you would need in this bungalow and unlimited WiFi was an essential ingredient for our kids. Be prepared to drive a few miles to get to Dunfanaghy but the road is good and the scenery out to Muckish and beyond is breathtaking! Would be more than happy to stay here again.
Great place to stay
We had a great 10 days at Ballyboe Cottage. Its ideally located between Dunfanaghy and Falcarragh, with fantastic views out towards the sea.
Mary the owner is really helpful and has lots of great advice for things to do and see in the area from walking Horn Head, the Poison Glen or Muckish Mountain, to fishing and horse riding. Theres loads of great cafe's, pubs and restaurants in the area as well as local markets.
Theres a lots of good galleries to look round as well as plenty of local crafts.
The house is about 6 minutes drive from the nearest sandy beach which is great for surfing, and dog walks.
The area is busy without being crowded. I couldn't recommend the place highly enough.
We had a lovely holiday, the cottage was well equipped and functioned very well for 5 adults , 4 children and a dog. The house was very comfortable and we very much enjoyed staying in Ballyboe cottage, it was a lovely base to make memories for our family , thank you Mary
Excellent location and stunning views
Very cosy cottage halfway between Dunfanaghy and Falcarrach. Clean and spacious, with its own little garden. Stunning views of the mountains and the sea (especially with the ever changing weather). Lots of things to do in this part of Donegal.
Had all the requirements to enjoy a week's holiday. Pity about the rain 😊
The property was Ok we had everything that was needed for a self catering holiday.

The cottage is situated on the coastal road out of Dunfanaghy and has sea views towards Tory island. The cottage is situated in the Gaeltach and is an ideal spot to pick up a few words of Irish.
This is a stunning part of Donegal, surrounded by Islands and amazing coastline, all within easy access. This might be your first visit to Donegal, but you may well return!

Golf: Nearby Dunfanaghy Golf Club is an 18-hole true links course laid out in 1905 by six times winner of the British Open, Mr Harry Vardon. It offers year-round golfing. Being one of only two hundred links courses world wide, Dunfanaghy is easily walked but also offers a superb golfing challenge. The course has spectacular views of Sheephaven Bay, nearby beaches, headlands, harbours and the dramatic Derryveagh Mountains. The greens are consistently rated among the best in Ireland and the course is sand-based and free-draining, making it playable all year round.
In Falcarragh Cloughaneely Golf Course is a nine hole mature course with rolling fairways and tight greens.
Only 20 minutes away St. Patricks Golf Links is a 36 hole development comprising two 18 hole links courses, Maheramagorgan and Trá Mór. St. Patricks is situated in the North West part of Ireland amidst the splendour and beauty of the rugged coastline of North East Donegal. The two courses lie amongst the sandy hills of Sheephaven Bay, a golfing links wonderland that adjoins the long established Rosapenna Golf Club giving this area four 18 hole classic links courses.
The Old Tom Morris Links has been attracting golfers for over a century and now, with the addition of the magnificent Sandy Hills Links, Rosapenna is set to become one of the top links destinations in the world. Both links courses provide a true seaside challenge for all levels of players.
