About David Walker

'Wolf Glen' derived its name from the many Jack London novels that were about wolves. Jack London lived in Glen Ellen and the state park named after him is a short walk from our home. Also, dedicated to our dog Juneau (pictured) had 'wolf' characteristics and we decided (as most dog lovers do) that this was actually his house. :-)

As for the 'Glen' part, the trees are so beautiful that we had to use 'Glen' in the name. We do hope that Wolf Glen is all that you want it to be and more - enjoy!!

David Walker purchased this house in 2012

Why David Walker chose Glen Ellen

The creek, the trees, the tranquility and the location to restaurants, wineries and the Glen Ellen Market make this home ideal for visiting the wine country. We have looked for a home in Sonoma County for years and stayed in vacation rentals throughout the wine regions and finally settled on the town of Glen Ellen due to its central location in the Sonoma Wine Valley and its proximity to the Napa Valley. Once we settled into the town of Glen Ellen we fell in love with the heart of the community and everyone we have met.

What makes this house unique

We found Wolf Glen on a lark and fell in love with it immediately. The home feels elegant and sophisticated, and offers a unique balance of privacy and access to the heart of downtown Glen Ellen. We can walk to restaurants, winery tasting rooms, and a gourmet grocery store yet the home is on a private, quiet road and feels as if it in the middle of no where. The stars at night are amazing. Just short walk from the home we can enter into Sonoma Regional Park and hike up in the hills, or drive a short mile and be in Jack London State Park.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I just wanted to let you know that we throughly enjoied our weekend in Glen Ellen. The house was perfect for our group, allowing both privacy and plenty of room for gatherings. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances, pots and pans, and tableware. (Although a tea kettle would have been nice)

The decks offered a beautiful view of the creek below, and make a wonderful place for gathering in the evenings. It was a short walk to town for night life or the market. I would highly recommend your house to other groups as comfortable place to spend a fall weekend in wine country.

Beautiful home, fully stocked kitchen & walk to town!

  • 5 of 5

We spent Christmas at the Wolf Glen house and it was such a warm and comfortable gathering place for our family. I had packed a few Christmas ornaments in the car to make the place merry but nothing was needed -- the house had elegant and charming lights and ornaments all set up. One of the owners is a caterer so the kitchen is better stocked than ours at home -- and we're avid cooks! Great pots, pans, knives, wineglasses and more. Four large and very comfortable bedrooms give everyone lots of space. Out the front door in just a short walk you can get to the wonderful market, Glen Ellen Star, The Fig Cafe, and the lovely regional park walking trails. Truly, a perfect spot and welcoming hosts. Highly recommended!!

Family Get Together

  • 4 of 5

Very nice house in Glen Ellen. We booked this house for our family to get together for an early Christmas. House is well designed (one bedroom and full bath on first floor) and beautifully decorated. Open design where the kitchen is open to the family room and the deck as well - great for a family get together. Very quiet and lots of large windows letting in plenty of sunlight (a real bonus for those of us from the midwest). Very nice decks on back of the house. The only negative is that the houses behind this house on the other side of Sonoma Creek recently burned down - so the view with no leaves on the trees this time of year was not the best. Positive was watching wildlife at the creek right behind house from the deck. We picked this area to support the people and businesses of the area due to the fires. And we loved the Glen Ellen area and highly recommend this house and this area of wine country. One wine tasting room at the end of the road and 3 excellent restaurants around the corner from this house that all had excellent food and service. All were within walking distance from the house - very convenient. Several wineries nearby and Sonoma was an easy drive from the house as well - also very convenient. Owners very responsive, friendly, and accommodating.

Perfect Thanksgiving

  • 5 of 5

We had a family thanksgiving at Wolf Glen and it was perfect. The kitchen is very nicely appointed - and Dave was even proactive about making sure we had the right roasting pan for our turkey! The home is well kept with nice linens, ample towels, laundry, and spacious bedrooms/bathrooms. We also used the grill on the large back deck for a family dinner.

We loved being walking distance to the restaurants and tasting rooms in Glen Ellen and just a short drive to Sonoma Square. Overall, this was a 5 star stay!

Great couples getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great stay at Wolf Glen! We were 4 couples and had plenty of room to hang out! The house was clean upon arrival and well-stocked! We enjoyed cooking dinner both nights in the kitchen, which had everything we needed. So nice to have the outside deck with the creek below. Dave (one of the owners) was very easy to work with and provided a great deal of information to us about the surrounding area of Glen Ellen. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Lovely place!

Family friendly and great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time with our group of 7 adults, 3 toddlers and a dog. The house was beautiful and spacious and in a great location, close to wineries, the market and a great selection of restaurants. We are definitely looking forward to another visit in the future.
