I have rented several properties through VRBO in various locations and this rental was by far the best experience. The condition of the property was excellent. We parked our car and moved it only to visit local plantations. Otherwise, we walked everywhere! The property was within walking distance of downtown Charleston and we would wake up every morning to walk to a different coffee shop. We were able to explore so much of the area without having to worry about parking which was a great relief. At the end of the day we enjoyed unwinding at the property as it was conducive to relaxing and enjoying our time together. Matt is fantastic as a property manager. I contacted him the day before we arrived in Charleston to book the property and he responded immediately and had everything taken care of so quickly. Additionally, I received my deposit back very timely. I cannot say enough great things about this property, it was truly a great deal and I will definitely book this property when I return to Charleston in the future. Thank you, Matt, for such a great experience!
Came to Charleston to celebrate our wedding anniversarys with my sister and brother-in-law and very much enjoyed our stay at the The Rutledge Avenue Inn. It was clean and spacious. We LOVED the veranda and used it in the morning for sipping coffee, afternoons for reading and evenings for sipping toddys. The owners are wonderful and were quick to respond to any questions. The house is located within walking distance to several restaurants and Publix.
All four of enjoyed our stay very much. The accommodations were great; clean and spacious. Matt was very helpful upon our arrival as we did run into some minor difficulty with the keypad lock. Our vacationing neighbors were friendly and we had several conversations with them. Location was great particularly for the wife's shopping excursions. My brother in law and I played golf at Patriots Point one day. We had fun on the course albeit we did get soaked. The rain did justify several mulligans. We are planning on revisiting in the next few years.
My family enjoyed a very special four days at the Rutledge Inn! We were in Charleston for our daughter's wedding. We did not want to be in hotel rooms as that defeated the whole family experience. The place was in very good shape. The bedrooms were spacious and the bathrooms were updated, as was the kitchen. There was a lot of light throughout the place and we also enjoyed the outdoor porch in the morning with our coffee.
We would stay there again in a heartbeat!
First and foremost Matt was very accommodating with our needs and questions! The style and furnishings were super nice and very comfortable. We hope to go back sometime in the future. We will share our experience and recommend this location to our friends and family!
When I was looking for a place to stay in Charleston I wanted something with charm, and this place has it. The upstairs 2 bedroom unit we had was bright, spacious and everything we needed.
LOCATION! Close to the College of Charleston and The Citadel, it was ideal for our party for it's proximity to The Citadel for graduation. It was an easy 15 min walk to King Street to countless restaurants and shops.
Each bedroom has a comfy King bed and ensuite bathroom. The Master has a large walk-in closet.
Kitchen is adequately equipped. Came with coffee and filters, which is always nice for the coffee drinkers.
Bonus was the Powder Room off the dining room, that was nice to have so people didn't have to use the bathrooms in the bedrooms.
Several really good restaurants within just a few minute walk. Hominy Grill, Fuel, Lana, Five Loaves.
Off street parking is a bonus. This is a very busy street, and parking out front is by permit only, and hard to find. All but Unit D has a parking space large enough for two cars to park behind each other.
Location. Rutledge is a busy street and it can be very loud, especially if you are sitting outside on the porch. It didn't bother our sleeping though, as the bedrooms are towards the back of the house.
Bugs. We had to kill a Palmetto bug the first day there. The porch railing was crawling with ants. They definitely need to spray more often.
Although the description says "Sleeps 6", the mattress on the pullout sofa is not worth your dog sleeping on. My son had to put the couch cushions on the mattress to get any kind of comfort. And the furniture really needs to be cleaned.
Off street parking. Having your own parking space is great, but it was not without it's challenges. I would encourage you getting as small a car as you can, as we had a mini van, and we were trapped a couple times when the lot was full. Think Austin Powers in a golf cart.
I have been to Charleston many times, and have always stayed out at my sons house. This time I wanted to be downtown, and this property did not disappoint. The location is perfect, it has that Charleston Charm I was looking for. I would stay here again if I needed the space. I definitely think the unit we had was the best location. Upstairs, with the porch out front.
