Wonderful historical property featuring updated amenities!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in 196-B Rutledge. This is the main house, upper unit. We had the pleasure to meet and chat with the owner, Matt. Matt was great to work with and very accommodating. The unit was a pleasure to stay in. It had the hstorical charm, but was updated a few years ago, so it had all the amenities that you would hope for. Everything was very clean and in good condition. The beauty of this place was having 2 comfortable King beds with ensuite bathrooms. The property is about a mile from the heart of the historic district, so we drove and parked downtown when we went there. It was a huge bonus to have off street parking for your unit! We never had any difficulty parking downtown - there is lots of parking garages scattered around the area. Rutledge Avenue can be busy and noisy, but it was never a problem. Also, we discovered Hominy Grill (which is located across the street from the property). Hominy Grill has a nice menu and features a Southern comfort food classic called the "Charleston Nasty Biscuit". We had it for breakfast one morning, and had to go back the next morning to have it again! It is a piece of fried chicken in a biscuit with cheese and smothered in gravy! Don't miss this one!

There is a grocery store called Harris Teeter (open 24 hours) located about a 5 minute drive from the property if you want to stock the kitchen. Local areas like Isle of Palms and Sullivans Island are a 20 minute plus drive and easy to get to. If you like to shop, be sure to walk up and down King St. Lastly, make reservations at 5 Church Charleston for an out of the world dining expreience. It is an old church that has been decorated in the most unusual manner. The menu is creative and delicious. There is a lot to see and do in Charleston, and this property is a great place to use as your base.

Summertime in Charleston is a dream

  • 5 of 5

We stayed about a mile away from downtown with many restaurants convenient to our place. Charleston is a town/city that has everything.....shopping, restaurants, the water, beaches and all kinds of different sections of town. In addition, there are historic sites to visit and read about....very interesting! On fourth of July there was a huge fireworks show with 40,000 people in attendance down by the water. Tremendous. Travel to this city....you won't be disappointed. And, stay in a beautiful place offered by VRBO. You'll save money and enjoy lovely quarters.

Fashionable comfort & convenience

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the second floor front unit...2 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths. It was decorated impeccably and well appointed and included 2 parking spaces behind the house. It is a great residential area, but street parking is tough and limited to 2 hours, so off street parking gets major points! It is a very pleasant 15 minute walk to downtown, but there are some very delicious, edgy eating establishments right on the block...Fuel and Hominy Grill! We loved our stay and would highly recommend!!

another wonderful visit to Charleston

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying at this property and it was as great as we remembered. Spacious, immaculately clean and very comfortable. The upstairs porch is large and has cozy furniture. Lots of bugs in the evenings of course, but a great space to enjoy. The kitchen had everything we needed to host an impromptu mother's day brunch. The innkeeper, Matt, is responsive and helpful. Although the location isn't right in the middle of Historic Charleston, it's a lovely neighborhood filled with friendly locals, shops and great restaurants. We rent bikes and we are never more than an 8 minute ride from anything! Uber is another economical way to get around Charleston. If you like coffee, the Bearded Cafe on Spring Street is an easy walk; Five Loaves Cafe on Cannon is practically around the corner. We look forward to staying here again soon :)
