Burdett Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

Year-round Rental on Seneca Lake Wine Trail, Finger Lakes, NY

Conveniently located in Hector, NY, on the east side of Seneca Lake. This beautifully renovated farmhouse cottage is bordered by vineyards owned by Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards. During warmer months, enjoy a glass of wine sitting on the large back deck while surrounded by cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc grape vines. Or sit on the wrap-around porch and enjoy the cool shade and wonderful breeze. For winter rentals, the house is fully insulated and heated with an electric fireplace for a cozy winter stay.

Inside you will find hardwood floors throughout the dining and living rooms, a newly renovated kitchen with gas range, microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator with in-the-door ice and water. A few steps down from the kitchen is a cozy sunroom - perfect for morning coffee! The large full bathroom includes a washer and dryer for our guests' convenience. The second floor features two bedrooms with an incredible view of the vineyards and Seneca Lake from the master bedroom.

“Hector Vineyard Cottage” sleeps four to six persons – two in each bedroom, and two on the living room futon (with a comfy 10" queen-sized mattress!). A small cot is available if needed. Bedrooms feature two twin beds that can be set up as separate twins or put together as a king-size bed with a comfy king-size mattress pad - just let us know what you prefer!

Our key packet includes regional maps and winery tasting coupons. Other amenities: Clean linens (sheets, pillow cases, blankets, mattress pads) provided. Public water. Charcoal grill (don't forget your charcoal), dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, ironing board and iron. Basic paper products supplied. Basic satellite TV service, excellent cell coverage area.

Hector Wine Company is just across Route 414 – perfect for walking over to enjoy their weekend live music and a glass of wine on their patio. Kirton’s Farm Market is a short walk for fresh, local produce, jellies, flowers and homemade pork or chicken BBQ.

Some of Seneca Lake’s best-known wineries and restaurants are all within less than five miles from the cottage including Wagner Vineyards & the Ginny Lee Cafe, Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards, Leidenfrost Vineyards, Stonecat Cafe, Red Newt Wine Cellars & Bistro, Damiani Wine Cellars, Atwater Vineyards, Two Goats Brewing, and Finger Lakes Distilling. Enjoy wine tasting, live music and other “off-hour” events hosted by the wineries and restaurants.

Although we do not have lake access, Smith Memorial Park is just a mile away with a public boat launch, swimming beach, picnic facilities and a small playground. Lodi Point is about 10 minutes north, Clute Memorial Park is 10 minutes south, and Watkins Glen State Park is just 15-20 minutes away.

very nice cottage overlooking vineyards, just outside Watkins Glen. Porches on three sides to enjoy the sunsets, eat outside, or relax and read. Convenient for excursions to Corning, Watkins Glen Gorge, wineries, etc.

Peaceful, tidy getaway within close proximity of lots to do!

  • 4 of 5

My family's experience with this rental was excellent from start to finish. Jennifer was a good communicator and sent us a packet of information about activities and local sights along with the keys a week before our rental date. The information provided about the rental was very accurate and complete and left us with little guesswork in terms of our expectations for the home and the amenities available on site.

The home itself was very clean, well-maintained, and well-stocked with bedding, garbage bags, paper towels and extra toilet paper, as well as a complete kitchen for cooking meals at home. We were very pleased with the amount of space - nice common areas (living room, kitchen area, sunroom, back and front patios/decks) for family time but enough space to have some quiet reading or phone call space, if needed. The breeze and the evening sunsets from the back deck were phenomenal, and we spent every morning and evening out there with coffee and food. We miss it already!

The home was very close to an array of wineries, within close driving distance of several areas for hiking and recreational kayaking, and we were even able to get away to Trumansburg for dinner out and a bowling night. The one comment I would make is that I didn't realize that the road on which the house is located is quite busy and fast, and the bend on which the house is located requires lots of care in backing out/turning out of the driveway. This might be something that families with young children may want to consider (so they don't run out into the road).

All in all, a wonderful stay. We would absolutely recommend it to friends and relatives!

Great little house, perfectly located on the Seneca Wine Trail

  • 5 of 5

The house was clean and comfortable- perfect for a weekend, or even longer, getaway. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was easy to cook in. The back porch enabled us to feel like we were all alone on our private vineyard with sweeping views. The number of really nice wineries, breweries and restaurants, all in close proximity to the houses, was amazing.

Thank you!

Wonderful place with a great view!

  • 5 of 5

This property was perfect. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck, looking at the scenery. Being next to the vineyard made the experience that much more authentic. The house was perfect for our group and had all the amenities. The location was great for visiting several of the wineries and breweries along the way. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice getaway on Seneca!

Great Little Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time on our weekend trip to Hector. We had never stayed on this side of Seneca Lake. Plenty of wineries within a short drive of the house. The house had everything we would need. Really enjoyed sitting out on the deck taking in the views while sipping some local wines. Would definitely recommend this house to friends and family.
