About Carol

A Washington State native, I am. I grew up in Grays Harbor County the daughter of a logger. Many of my early years were spent in the woods and along the creeks in the area. Husband Jim, was a transplant from North Dakota, at the age of 10, finally settling in Southwest WA, on a farm on Cedar Creek. Lake Cushman and the surrounding pristine forests met our criteria for a 'Home Away From Home'- We are choosing to share our 'CAMP WOLF' so you too can enjoy it, with your family & friends.

Carol purchased this cabin in 1997

Why Carol chose Hood Canal

We stumbled upon this unique mountain property in the Summer of 1997. A handshake over the phone, helped us secure the deal.

Our family has enjoyed many memorable experiences, as we have explored beautiful Lake Cushman by boat, snorkel and water sport activities.

What makes this cabin unique

Go ahead, come to camp. Forget your troubles and step into a carefree time you have only dreamed of experiencing lately, in this fast paced life.

Go ahead, lay back in the comfy hammock and listen to the tumbling waters just below in the ravine.

Go ahead, grab a cozy sweater and ask someone to join you on the glider swing as you look down into the canyon below and take in the beauty of your surroundings.

Go ahead, enjoy making S'mores as the glowing embers of the campfire keep you toasty. Be sure and glance up at the heavens to see the brightly lit stars as they glisten in the nighttime sky. Night has come the evening invites you inside to play one last game together, before you get into your beds and ponder the day while planning your tomorrows.

Good Night, Jon Boy.

Grandma, is that big bear really dead?

Yes, it is - Go to sleep now.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Your cabin is so well appointed and had everything and more that we could have ever needed. We felt so comfortable & really appreciated the memory foam on the bed. I think I slept my first 8 hours in a very long time.

I am already scheming on how & when we can make it back.

Perfect Cabin Getaway at Lake Cushman

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Camp Wolf! The cabin was well stocked with everything you could possibly need and the location was beautiful. We were getting married at a nearby campsite and used the cabin as our getaway and home base. It was quiet and peaceful and everything we needed. Carol was great at communicating with us, and we will definitely be returning for future vacations. Camp Wolf holds such a special place in our hearts.

Thanks for sharing your cabin. We enjoyed the peaceful setting, the swing with the sounds of the creek, the comfortable beds and the kayak we used on the lake. It was a good home base after hiking and it was nice to cook meals in the well stocked kitchen.

Owner's Response: Over these past few years, it has been our pleasure to be able to share our little cabin with folks that need a restful place to come and just kickback and enjoy some of the sights and sounds the area provides. Life gets pretty busy and we all need to take an occasional and well deserved break -to take care of ourselves. So glad you chose Camp Wolf and could leave refreshed.

Great place for our family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was amazing! Very welcoming and with a very well stocked kitchen. Enjoyed the hammock, outside swing structure and loved that it was within walking distance to the lake. It was very nice of the homeowner to also have bikes, kayaks, boat and canoe although we didn't use them as our kids are too young. Still, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this place to friends and family!

Perfect little forest / lake cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Camp Wolf and are already planning our next visit! Cabin is well-equipped and well-cared for. Location is within walking distance of one little pocket park and a very short drive to a large community park. And we loved the feeling of remoteness with the lovely stream sounds. Carol is an amazing hostess!

Owner's Response: We are so happy that you enjoyed our little "cabin at the lake". Christi. Our Grandkids. all 12 of them, have many great memories of our Family Trips to Lake Cushman. Now that most of them have finished college, they put their requests in to bring some of their friends up to enjoy the area. Thanks, for giving us the chance to share with your family. It is a lot of fun to see others families enjoy their times together, just as we have done.

Owner's Response: You are right, Kelly. There are so many things to do-just minutes away from Camp Wolf. We never tire of hiking the trails that are so easy to access close by the cabin. It really is relaxing, hiking in the midst of the magnificent forested trails, with the beautiful under canopy of the ferns. The Shady Lane Trail. starting just over the bridge at Staircase , has some pretty Maiden Hair Ferns above the creek as you start this hike. Happy that you had such a great time and look forward to your return.

Only 5 miles to Staircase Campground in Olympic National Park with catch and release river fishing and hiking. Mt. Rose and Mt. Ellinor are in the area. Bring a motor boat for touring pristine Lake Cushman. We have a canoe and a rowboat for use by responsible renters, over the age of 25, who must accompany their guests.
