Once an 18th century canava, this village home has been meticulously renovated, without dampening its authentic vibe. Located skipping distance from the island's best beaches, it is a fun-loving and cozy habitat, with playful curves guaranteed to make the whole family smile. Just the two of you ? Lucky you: this villa is the perfect secluded love nest. The kitchen takes center stage, blending seamlessly into the sunny courtyard, blushing with bougainvillea. The organic open-plan living and dining space integrates with the master bedroom via exposed brick archways, and links to an opulent bathroom with sunken bathtub and a natural stone shower. There's also a second separate en-suite bedroom overlooking the courtyard. Photographers love this house for its light - thanks o the high-vaulted ceilings throughout - and it has even been featured in interior design coffee table books and numerous glossy publications.
Clean and simple with a playful aesthetic best describes this village home. Owned by a quirky Australian chef, the house has been remodeled to reflect her fun loving and outgoing personality. 'Keep it local' was the key concept behind the redesign of this 18th century canava, with pottery from the village potter and other treasures, which make this house, a home. Kitchen to courtyard blends beautifully and encourages you to try your hand at the local cuisine with fresh produce bought at the markets.
The organic shape of the home is retained with an open plan living and dining area, which in turn integrates well with the master bedroom. A sunken bathtub and stone shower adds a sense of indulgence to the bedroom. The second cozy guest en-suite bedroom is separate from the main living area, and overlooks the colourful courtyard. High vaulted ceilings and superior furnishings throughout the house makes for a most comfortable stay.
Now that's what I call a villa! Having been "burned" a few times by booking online a villa only to find out that it was a farm house at best, I was a bit concerned when I chose Cyrene House for our honeymoon . My concerns were vanished the moment we entered the beautiful entrance of this amazing villa: In one word? Paradise! We loved the really big yet very private courtyard where we had great breakfast everyday and a lovely terrace with outdoors jacuzzi on the roof top where we spend most of our time... Also, the villa itself was spacious and very well equipped.. It was so nice & relaxing, that we didn't want to leave to explore the island! Absolutely recommended!
Megalochori is a lovely village located in the centre of Santorini, with white painted houses, beautiful churches, narrow cobble streets and a quant village atmosphere surrounded by vineyards. It provides a perfect base from where to explore the island of Santorini. To get to the best beaches of the island (Perivolos, Vlyhada, Red Beach) is just a 10 minutes’ drive. At the same distance is the capital (Fira). The village starting becoming popular the last years and has excellent restaurant options from traditional local tavernas to more gourmet options. A local bakery , mini-market, hairdresser and suparmarket are also available. You can also enjoy a visit to the local winery Gavalas for wine tasting (2 minutes distance from the villa).Closing I would say that Megalochori is a true reflection of the local Santorini experience!
