Overview

About the property

Unique, top of the world experience in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley

The Look Out Tower is located above Little Sleeping Child Road just south of Hamilton, MT. Close to town and yet worlds apart is this unique off the grid and eco- friendly experience. Built with maximum views in mind, this comfortable and self contained home is like nothing you have ever experienced. The Look Out Tower is part of a 165 acre ranch- so there is lots of room to roam. There is wildlife galore.

With (most of) all the modern conveniences in a typical home, we are equipped with stainless steel refrigerator and range. There are two bedrooms downstairs - 1 Queen size bed in one room, and the other has a Queen bed with a European style twin bunk above it. We can accommodate 5 guests in these beds and there is also a couch upstairs for one more person if needed.

We will have the solar power and propane tankless hot water heater turned on and waiting for you when you arrive. Use your hot spot on your phone for the internet. We have a cistern which accommodates running water including a flushable toilet. We ask you to always be conscious of your activities to minimize your water and electrical usage, as our systems are small but very functional. We believe that we have all the amenities that you will ever need, but remember, our resources are finite.

The road (driveway) is 1 mile long and has recently been upgraded. It can, however, be a bit slippery in a few spots if it has been raining for couple of days previous to your arrival. An all wheel drive car, SUV or truck is strongly recommended.

Hiking options are endless on this property, as the east side borders the forest service. Hunters, this is the perfect spot for you. The public access to unit 270 is at your doorstep. I have included a photo of a bull elk my daughter shot in Nov. of 2016 at 240 yds from the tower! We do not allow others to hunt on the ranch, but with our binoculars and spotting scope, you can see the game across the meadow and plan your hunt accordingly! The Bitterroot river is close by for all your trout fishing desires.

The peace you will feel while sitting on the deck of this tower is unsurpassed. You can hear elk bugle in the fall. Wildlife will surround you and the stars at night will fill every window, making you feel at one with nature. Sunrises and sunsets are often indescribably beautiful from this vantage point.

Your stay in our tower will be more than just a vacation. It will be a luxurious adventure. We know you will want to return after finding this one of a kind retreat.

Jeep tours are available in the Sapphire mountains. They will pick you up at the tower!

Massages available with professional upon request. Shooter will arrive with her own table and set up on the deck.

What makes this house unique

The views and privacy offered by the ranch are incredible. It is hard to describe how it feels to sit on the wrap around deck of this tower and take in all the beauty. The stars at night will astound you. You may never want to leave.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I can't believe you guys saw a moose. That is fantastic. We always see elk and deer but not so many of the big guys! Hope you came back next summer and bring friends. All the best, Tristan p.s. I'm a girl. HA.

Car: necessary

The pristine valley of Little Sleeping Child does require a vehicle that does well on dirt roads. The driveway has recently been graded, but if it has been raining for a few days before arrival, it may be a bit muddy in parts and an all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive is recommended. It adds to the experience of being off the grid!

Lookout Tower trip.. Three guys looking for comfortable lodging with immediate access to outdoor act

  • 5 of 5

We recently spent six nights at the Tower and it was a great experience. The quality of the lodging greatly exceeded our expectations. The interior has been very thoughtfully laid out and is as comfortable as any 5 star lodging you will find. The views are stunning and the entire area is beautiful. The owners were extremely helpful and responsive. I would highly recommend the Tower as a get away for everyone.

Fantastic retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Our second visit to the Tower House was excellent. Great weather, crisp fall nights & warm sunny days. Great birdwatching, sun rises, sunsets & starry nights! We noticed some energy system improvements since our visit last year, making everything all the easier to understand. We look forward to our next stay at this unique and enjoyable vacation home.

Wonderful adventure in MT

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing stay! Comfortable rooms, everything we needed/wanted in a place to stay and more. Views were amazing, even saw stars one night despite the wildfire smoke. Great central location for hiking and exploring and a mission to follow Lewis and Clark. We carved out some time to relax and enjoy the tower too. Tristan was quick to respond to questions. The tower exceeded our expectations!! We will be back🔆?

Loved the tower!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 2 nights in the tower. It was very hot, but there was just enough breeze on the deck to enjoy the amazing views and quiet. Tristan was always available for the questions we had. Hamilton was a neat little town to visit. Turn off the cell phone and head up to the tower!

Amazing Bitterroot Range view from 270 degree deck and windows

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed incredible sunsets, over the Bitterroots, while preparing dinner and dining. Look Out is on top of a foothills knob, very remote, lots of wildlife. A second floor deck and full length main room windows extends around 3/4 Look Out. Very well furnished and equipped, and very well maintained. Could not ask for anything in addition, beyond expectations.
