About SHAUN NUGENT
My name is Shaun Nugent and I grew up in the Mckenzie valley. I own Signature Surfaces NW which offers the finest in granite, tile and marble installations. My wife, Serena wrote for the Register Gaurd for 12 years before she gave birth to our first son Quinn. Together we have finished the Oregon Cliff House and would like to share its pristine beauty with you.
SHAUN NUGENT purchased this House in 2006
Why SHAUN NUGENT chose Vida
The Mckenzie river is one of the cleanest rivers in the world. Fed by a unique geological formation. Volcanic rock provides a natural filtration system that spring feeds this incredibly clean, cold, beautiful river. Surrounded by magnificent trees that provide peace and beauty, there is no better place to relax and enjoy the the finer things in life.
What makes this House unique
Laying in a hammock or playing in the shallow waters along the rivers edge removes one from all the bustle and stress of normal life. The 30 ft cliff bank covered in vegetation creates a world of its own. Sitting on the deck or in the hot tub over looking the river is also unparalleled. Hitting a home run on the wiffleball field may top them all though!

Excellent spot for our department retreat!
The team and I had a fantastic time at the Oregon Cliff House for our department retreat. It is a beautiful piece of property along the McKenzie River which is one of my favorite places on earth. The wiffle ball field was a huge bonus. We played a ton of that. We also enjoyed the bonfire pit and the many other amenities. Shaun was extremely helpful and generous to our group. I highly recommend this place for your next work or family gathering.
Great Christmas on the river
My family gathered from young (4) to old (93) to celebrate the holidays together at the Cliff house. We were very comfortable and found the accommodations to be very nice. Only downfall was that it was too cold to play any wiffle ball :( Maybe next time!!!
Shaun was extremely helpful in getting our family reunion set up at the house but because of a last-minute change on our part we were unable to hold the event at their beautiful location. Shaun is a great person to work with, whether just renting out the place for a getaway or holding an event as elaborate as a large family reunion!
Great family retirement party!
All 14 members of our family, Ages 18 - 61, had a fantastic time at the Oregon cliff house. We came home tired and sore, which is a good thing! We played so many games of wiffle ball, volleyball, corn hole, hiked the McKenzie river trail, and ended every evening with a bonfire. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. With this size of group you do need to bring a couple ice chests, and bring your own volleyball. The trail down to the river was fine for us but would be challenging for young children or elderly.
We plan to come back here, and every family member agreed! This is a great place to bond and BS.
Mini Reunion Get Away
A group of high school buddies just shy of their 30-year reunion and their significant others gathered at the Oregon Cliff House for a long weekend of drinking beer, telling stories and enjoying everything the Cliff House had to offer. The group thoroughly enjoyed hanging out in the river, sitting on the deck while playing corn hole and partaking in a home run derby on the wiffle ball field. The Oregon Cliff House was the perfect place for the gathering. Everyone enjoyed everything it had to offer and Shaun (the owner) was great to work with.
Wiffle Ball and River Water Wonderland!
I can't express in words how much fun and how many laughs we had during our three night stay at the Oregon Cliff house. Between our weekend wiffle ball tourney to just being mesmerized by the magical McKenzie River it couldn't have been a better stay-cation for our family. From dawn to much passed dusk, we took advantage of the beautiful deck overlooking the river, the amazing wiffle ball field and gorgeous scenery around the house. They have so many extra bonus items our family enjoyed for a comfortable and pleasant stay from board games inside to a BBQ outside. They even had bottles of wine you can buy in case you forget to bring or run out of your own! There are some great hikes such as Tamolitch which is a short drive away and a MUST do while staying in the area! We loved, loved our stay and only look forward to next time.
