This is our personal home away from home too and we hope you have many great family memories here. It is a great lake (not overcrowded), great fishing and very relaxing, but also lots to do for kids. We enjoy playing family games (that we never make time for at home) and eating smores after dark!
Becca purchased this cottage in 2012
Little Fish Lake covers 139 acres and has a water depth of 40’, an all sports lake, and great fishing for bass, bluegill and crappie. There is a public launch nearby. The lake is quiet (not a lot of fast boats). You are welcome to bring your own watercraft. There is no motor size limit on the lake. We have kayaks, a paddle boat, and a small Pontoon boat with a trolling motor for your enjoyment. You can fish off the pier too (Fishing license required). Please make sure you are familiar with Michigan lake boating rules. Basic rules for the lake: no wake after 7pm. Stay at least 100ft away from swimmers and other boaters. Drive counter clockwise on the lake.
Private lake front home sleeps up to 6. Your family will love your vacation in this home away from home! Imagine yourself waking up to the sounds of nature, kayaking, paddle boat, or fishing off the pontoon. Your kids will love the family games, video games, and s'mores! There is so much to do! You can also boat over to the lakeside park!
Pontoon worked out great for fishing and swimming. Couple of days we were only ones on lake tubing and sking. Kids enjoyed the kayaks as wells.
Stayed Aug 2016
This place is comfortable, clean and cute. Becca and Scott do all they can to make you feel like you are an honored guest in their home. A great place for a family to relax and enjoy a lovely little lake and great surroudings!
We just returned from a wonderful week-long stay at this cottage on Little Fish Lake. It was honestly one of my best vacations to date. The house is nicely decorated and was very clean. The linens especially, were clean and the beds made when we arrived. There was ample living room and dining room seating, all of which were comfortable and well cared for. With the two newer a/c units, the house remained comfortable even while it reached the high 80's outside. WiFi worked well in the mornings and evenings (just a little slower during the day). The large, flat front yard was used to catch football and Frisbee (found in the storage area along with oars and life jackets) - we even brought our own bocce ball set to use. We used the kayaks daily and though it is an all sports lake, for the most part, it was quiet and peaceful. The included pontoon boat with trolling motor was wonderful - we took our girls out in the middle of the lake and they swam for hours. They also enjoyed fishing off the dock and the pontoon and caught many bass and blue gill. My boyfriend and I enjoyed sitting on the docked pontoon in the mornings as we sipped our coffee and watched the steam rise off the lake.
The lakefront has a nice sandy beach area and it's clear, shallow, and safe for swimming for little ones there. A little past that and along the dock, it is sea-weedy, but we just took out the pontoon, or paddled over to the clean swimming area across the lake.
We spent a few evenings around the campfire making mountain pies and s'mores. If there is anything negative to mention here, it would be the geese and the droppings they leave behind near the shore/firepit, but I don't think there's really anything that can be done about that - just a part of nature.
There's not much else to do in the area (there probably is, but we were content to stay at the lake house) - we did venture out 3 times to drive (an hour each way) to visit St. Joseph and Silver Beach. It was beautiful, worth the drive at least once, and the kids loved it. Getting there required driving through the small town of Eau Claire, and we recommend stopping for ice cream at the Main Street.
If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation in a clean, comfortable cottage, we highly recommend this location. The owners were prompt and easy to work with. The $200 deposit was also refunded promptly.
Thank you for a wonderful vacation. We hope to visit again :-)
Great time had by all. Very nice cottage on nice little lake
Had a perfect stay at Little Fish Lake. The cabin was spacious and comfortable....we had everything we needed! Loved kayaking around lake.
My sister and I and our families stayed at this cottage for a week in mid-August. It was clean and cute. There were plenty of pots and pans for cooking, and a gas grill that was nice. We enjoyed playing in the sand and water, taking trips to nearby Three Rivers (awesome bookstore there!), and relaxing beside the fire pit. We were a little disappointed that the area of the lake in front of the beach was somewhat overgrown; we had hoped to swim there. But the shallow water by the shore was perfect for the littlest kids to play in, and we were able to go across the lake to the public swimming area (no one else was there) to swim. The owners were very accommodating; they actually brought out a new DVD player when we couldn't get the first one to work! And recommended a fabulous ice cream place. All in all we had a great time!
