About Jacque Aragon
Moving from Texas in the fall of 1985 with our two young sons was out of our comfort zone – leaving most of our family and two grown daughters back in Texas. However, we fell in love with Pagosa Springs and the beauty of the mountains, and have always been happy with our decision. We bought the Metropolitan Hotel in 1988 after it was renovated. It was office space except for one four bedroom loft. After our boys grew up we moved to Denver and just recently we remodeled the loft and now use it as a vacation spot for family and friends and anyone else wishing to visit and enjoy a few days in the mountains.
Jacque Aragon purchased this Apartment in 1988
Why Jacque Aragon chose Archuleta County
The loft is located downtown across the street from the world famous Hot Springs and our family as well as visitors enjoy the hot healing waters after a day at the slopes. Speaking of the slopes it is only a short 20 minute ride to Wolf Creek Ski Area. It's a saying around town that this area is the 'Best Kept Secret' in Colorado. Wolf Creek has the most powder in Colorado! It's a snowboarders paradise! Please leave your comments in our journal in our loft and please enjoy! -Danny and Nettie Wood
What makes this Apartment unique
Pagosa Lumber Company founder A.T. Sullenberger purchased the two-story brick building at this location in 1918 which was previously occupied by Archuleta Merchantile and built by J.M. Archuleta Jr. in the early 1900's. After a fire destroyed the structure in 1919, Sullenberger constructed the Metropolitan Hotel which featured modern rooms, hot baths for guests and a motion picture theatre. Now, almost one hundred years later, the Loft at the Metropolitan Hotel sits at the top of it all, welcoming guests to its history. Both apartment rentals are just a short walk across the street to the World Famous Hot Springs Pool and Hot Tubs. Everyone will love the short drive to Wolf Creek for a day on the slopes or just stroll around the shops and restaurants close by! Don't forget the Overlook Hot Springs Spa next door or enjoy a movie at the Liberty Theatre! Anyway you look at it, you will enjoy our lofts and Pagosa Springs!
Centrally located and well appointed loft
The loft down under had everything we needed for a comfortable visit. We are three, so the air mattress was needed for our son. The king bed was comfortable & spacious. The kitchen had everything you need from warming to baking. The best part is the location, walking distance to central Pagosa, the San Juan River trail, hot springs, etc. now if only there had been snow!
Christmas Ski Vacation
The Loft Down Under was a great place to stay for our Wolf Creek ski trip. We were able to relax after skiing, fix meals in the kitchen and enjoy a soak in the nearby hot springs. The underground loft was cozy and convenient; we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! I would recommend this place to others.
Warm and smelly.
The bed was comfortable. The kitchen is nice with new appliances and a neat retro theme. The bathroom was nice and new. Some issues that we had were....the place was warm, while it was cool outside at night in August it felt like a heater on in the apartment. There is a swamp cooler in the kitchen that seems to function like it should but it doesn't keep the sleeping area cool. I contacted the owner about it and he was very prompt and had it checked out quickly. Turns out it was doing all it could to keep the place cool. We were able to utilize a fan and set it on a stool so it would aim directly on us and we were ok after that. Another issue we had was the way the place smelled. It could be related to the Hot Springs (you know how they smell) near by but it also could be a sewer gas leak. It was difficult to deal with. Except for the kitchen and bath the place is very dark. Dirt and dust would fall on the furniture from the exposed floor joists. To be honest we would spend as little time there as possible, using it only for showering and sleeping. And that's our honest opinion.
Amazing Downtown Location!
We walked everywhere because of the great location. Lots of room for 2 adults! The full kitchen was awesome and it had a stackable washer/dryer, which was a plus. The king size bed was comfortable. Despite the downtown location it was very quite, which made for a wonderful nights sleep. We would stay in this unit again.
The Loft Down Under is perfect for any getaway!
My wife & I visited Pagosa Springs for the convenient location to get to Wolf Creek ski area! Even know this was our focus we quickly learned how perfect the location was. Close to amazing bakeries and restaurants all within walkable distance. We also got in the hot springs across the street (5 minute walk)!!!
The kitchen is updated and has everything you could possibly need to cook any meal! Bed was comfortable and place has plenty of room! Host is amazing and responded right away every time I reached out! Would highly recommend and will be coming back to the area and stay here again!
Great location. Rose Cafe and Lost Cajun two doors down on both sides. Overlook spa one door down.
Manager accessible and very helpful for any questions. Great stay. Thanks!!
