'The Loft Down Under' located in the basement facing Pagosa's main street. It’s just a short walk across the street to the World Famous Hot Springs Pool and Hot Tubs. It is a open loft with a king size log bed and queen size hide-a-bed couch that will accommodate 4 comfortably. Enjoy the 50 inch HD DirecTv, comfortable furnishings, and cooking in the retro kitchen with all new LG appliances.
Moving from Texas in the fall of 1985 with our two young sons was out of our comfort zone – leaving most of our family and two grown daughters back in Texas. However, we fell in love with Pagosa Springs and the beauty of the mountains, and have always been happy with our decision. We bought the Metropolitan Hotel in 1988 after it was renovated. It was office space except for one four bedroom loft. After our boys grew up we moved to Denver and just recently we remodeled the loft and now use it as a vacation spot for family and friends and anyone else wishing to visit and enjoy a few days in the mountains.

The loft is located downtown across the street from the world famous Hot Springs and our family as well as visitors enjoy the hot healing waters after a day at the slopes. Speaking of the slopes it is only a short 20 minute ride to Wolf Creek Ski Area. It's a saying around town that this area is the 'Best Kept Secret' in Colorado. Wolf Creek has the most powder in Colorado! It's a snowboarders paradise! Please leave your comments in our journal in our loft and please enjoy!

Pagosa Lumber Company founder A.T. Sullenberger purchased the two-story brick building at this location in 1918 which was previously occupied by Archuleta Merchantile and built by J.M. Archuleta Jr. in the early 1900's. After a fire destroyed the structure in 1919, Sullenberger constructed the Metropolitan Hotel which featured modern rooms, hot baths for guests and a motion picture theatre.
Now, almost one hundred years later, the Loft at the Metropolitan Hotel sits at the top of it all, welcoming guests to its history. Both apartment rentals are just a short walk across the street to the World Famous Hot Springs Pool and Hot Tubs. Everyone will love the short drive to Wolf Creek for a day on the slopes or just stroll around the shops and restaurants close by! Don't forget the Overlook Hot Springs Spa next door or enjoy a movie at the Liberty Theatre! Anyway you look at it, you will enjoy our lofts and Pagosa Springs!
This place was great! We had an amazing time staying here and will be back in the future. We really enjoyed the Loft Down Under!
It was ok. Very warm in the loft all day and night. A/c was not very good. Turn on a very small fan that made way to much noise. Couch stunk. Shower is very small. Every one was giving it 5 stars. Sorry I give 2. But hey on good side. Right across from the river and springs. Next time I will stay there at Springs resort.
We spent three nights at the Loft Down Under. It was spacious for a studio, clean and comfortable with a very well-equipped kitchen and a very comfortable bed. We watched movies on the Blu-Ray player; on the big screen, they were fantastic. The location is perfect, in walking distance of the River Walk, the Pagosa Bakery and the Alley House Grille, and many other local eateries, with the Overlook hot tubs two doors away. The only drawback was the music coming from the gift shop overhead: Native American flutes are beautiful, but three days' worth is a lot!
The Loft Down Under was huge, super clean & close to everything we wanted to do. The kitchen was so fully stocked with dishes, pots, bowls glasses and utensils we could have never left the building. They have their own wi-fi network just for you and the new washer and dryer came in very handy too. It's literally across the street from the hot springs and less than 1/2 and hour to Wolf Creek Ski Area. We are definitely coming back. And if you have a big group the upstairs loft can sleep up to 14!
The huge flat screen TV and extra wide recliner make this place perfect for relaxing after a day on the mountain.
Awesome shower, very comfortable bed, love the Retro/Modern decor.
We loved this place. Easy access to Main Street and the Hot Springs. A cute and quiet little loft. The kitchen had all we needed to enjoy home cooked meals. Bedding and furniture very comfortable.
We had a great stay in the Loft Down Under. The location can't be beat and the loft was spacious, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. We were within easy walking distance of multiple restaurants, shops and, of course, The Springs. We never made it to the movies, but the theater is so close we could smell the popcorn! I would definitely stay here again.
