Guests have access to the entire home except the attached garage apartment, which we live in part time.

The Guest House and apartment share an entry porch with a separate entrance door divided for privacy by a mudroom (downstairs). Enjoy the beautiful covered front porch and pergola which is yours alone. When we are home, we are happy to give you all the privacy you would like.

The driveway can easily accommodate 3-4 cars, more with some creative parking! The house is located within the village of Chester. You can park your car and walk to everything.

The house is set on a small knoll in town within walking distance of shops, restaurants, grocery, bakery, hiking trails & Black River fishing and swimming holes, yoga studio, and a recreation area with a public pool, tennis courts, playground and skate park. Our region is becoming increasingly known for its organic farms, farm raised beef, farm to table restaurants, craft beer, artisan bread and cheese, and even local winemakers.

Within a short drive you can easily visit working farms and many small historic villages. The nearby towns of Ludlow, Grafton, Weston, Springfield and Bellows Falls are all within 15 minutes' drive from Amare Guesthouse, each with their own personality. Brattleboro, Woodstock and Manchester are within a 45 min drive and offer rich history, more restaurants and entertainment.  The house is on a main road so traffic can be heard.

We can easily be reached by phone, text, email, or a knock on our door if we are home and I would be happy to answer any questions or suggest some fun activities for you and your family to do during your visit.

About Krystina Lankone

We moved to Vermont 15 years ago for its connection to nature, real local food & small town lifestyle. With backgrounds in design and architecture, we have renovated 3 homes in the area and enjoy polishing the gems that are often overlooked by years of neglect. Our intention is to bring a space back to its original simplicity while adding only the necessities for modern comfort. We've been astounded by the craftsmanship that went into this house over the year.

Krystina Lankone purchased this farmhouse in 2016

Why Krystina Lankone chose Chester Depot

We watched this gem sit neglected for too long and took it on as a design/renovation project in the beginning of 2016. After 5 months of nonstop renovations, we have completed the first phase of this project. Our goal with this project is to enjoy the process, hence the name Amare "to do for the love of it". She's been a true pleasure to work on, this house just feels good, and we give thanks to have the opportunity to bring her back to life and now share her with our guests.

What makes this farmhouse unique

This pretty lady sit on a knoll in the village of Chester, and although you'll miss very little when you're sitting on the porches, the back yard offers privacy.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Lovingly restored home with plenty of space. The owners are very responsive and full of good suggestions, but not intrusive in the least. We enjoyed hiking Mt. Ascutney and Lowell Lake, picking up a few things at the farmer's market in Londonderry, poking around the shops in Chester, sitting on the front porch, reading, and having long, leisurely conversations. Our four nights left us refreshed and wanting to return!

Wonderful, warm home with lots of cozy nooks to relax.

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stayed in this home. Walking distance to the village which offer nice restaurant offerings. House is well equipped and has incredibly comfortable beds and pillows. Large kitchen for those who like to cook. The family who owns the house is very nice and makes every effort to make your stay memorable. This rambling old house in a gem and it perfect for couples or families. Just a sweet experience all around.

Clean, cozy, beautifully decorated

  • 5 of 5

Spent four days with my family and despite there being no snow for skiing we were happy to spend lazy days in this cozy house. All the rooms were clean, comfortable, spacious and very tastefully decorated. We cooked, read, the little girls played hide and seek. We were very happy with our temporary home. Krystina was available when we needed her or had questions and was kind enough to look for my lost sunglasses after we left and wrote to inquire if I had found them (I did). I highly recommend a stay here.
