The Amare Guesthouse Restored Victorian Home Steps From Downtown Chester.
About Krystina Lankone
We moved to Vermont 15 years ago for its connection to nature, real local food & small town lifestyle. With backgrounds in design and architecture, we have renovated 3 homes in the area and enjoy polishing the gems that are often overlooked by years of neglect. Our intention is to bring a space back to its original simplicity while adding only the necessities for modern comfort. We've been astounded by the craftsmanship that went into this house over the year.
Krystina Lankone purchased this Farmhouse in 2016
Why Krystina Lankone chose Chester Depot
We watched this gem sit neglected for too long and took it on as a design/renovation project in the beginning of 2016. After 5 months of nonstop renovations, we have completed the first phase of this project. Our goal with this project is to enjoy the process, hence the name Amare "to do for the love of it". She's been a true pleasure to work on, this house just feels good, and we give thanks to have the opportunity to bring her back to life and now share her with our guests.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
This pretty lady sit on a knoll in the village of Chester, and although you'll miss very little when you're sitting on the porches, the back yard offers privacy.

Lovely old house!
We enjoyed our stay in Chester! Beautiful kitchen, comfortable beds, and a wonderful host. Stairs up are a bit steep but we all managed just fine. Great location to use as a hub to visit many surrounding small towns as well as the Green Mountains.
Authentic - But Not Completely Renovated as the Listing Suggested
Location was on the intersection of two major highways. The town of Chester was walkable but offered little amenities. Ended up driving to Ludlow where there many more options for food and fun. Great kitchen, but some of the Interior spaces seemed to be a work in progress. The exterior showed lots of evidence of deferred maintenance. The cot-come-sofa in the TV area was painful to sit on. Some nice furnishings, but some that were offered for sale. That’s a new one. I’d skip Chester and stay in Ludlow next time.
Nice place in an area with out a lot options. We have a lot of family in the area so it worked out perfect for us.
Our Happy Place
Our third stay here and we love it each time. It is charming and comfy at the same time.
I am sure we will return. Definitely 5 stars!
Perfect family getaway in beautiful Chester.
We were a family of six Australians travelling together on a four week vacation in the US. We visited New York City as our first stop and to spend Christmas there and then travelled by minibus up to Vermont. Our plan was to have four nights of relaxation and time together with our adult children. We could not have picked a better place. When we arrived we were delighted to find that the property was even more impressive than in the photos. It is oozing character and beautifully furnished throughout. The kitchen is a cooks dream and we loved using it to make large family dinners. The hosts are fantastic, giving you your own space but always there for advice if needed. The house has several areas to relax in and beautiful outdoor areas. Our family went skiing at Okemo and also visited Springfield and Manchester to go outlet shopping. I would highly recommend Chester Depot for family getaways or for a couples escape.
Personable hosts, Beautiful town
This farmhouse has been lovingly restored with a great modern kitchen, huge island & well equipped cooking facility. This is a very spacious home with room to spread out and several cozy reading areas which lend themselves to relaxation. We slept well in the comfy king size bed, fluffy bed covers/pillows. The location is just a few minutes walk into town, stores, & restaurants. We enjoyed our time here.
The house is set on a small knoll in town within walking distance to shops, restaurants, grocery, bakery, hiking trails & Black River fishing and swimming holes, yoga studio, and a recreation area with a public pool, tennis courts, playground and skate park. Our region is becoming increasingly known for its organic farms, farm raised beef, farm to table restaurants, craft beer, artisan bread and cheese, and even local winemakers.
Within a short drive you can easily access working farms and many small historic villages. The nearby towns of Ludlow, Grafton and Weston are all within 15 minutes' drive from Amare Guesthouse, each with their own history and personality. Brattleboro, Woodstock and Manchester are within a 45 min drive and offer rich history, more restaurants and entertainment.
